Unfortunately I had not disabled automatic updates so Steam forced the new 2.3 update for Cyberpunk on me. I did download the new Vorpx Cyberpunk mod from the homepage but unfortunately it appears to be broken. Couldn’t get it to start in OpenXR or SteamVR. I’m using Virtual Desktop with Meta Quest 3. Everything worked fine with OpenXR and Cyberpunk and the Vorpx Mod before version 2.3. Can’t remember whether I had anything configured differently when I started Cyberpunk before the 2.3 update. Is there a known issue with the current Vorpx mod?
I just wanted to chime in that I’m also having issues with this driver and my 5090. It only happens in some games. For me it is with Farming Simulator 22 and 25. One of the issues is that the problem is intermittent. One thing I noticed is that when you change the tracking to “Safe” inside the game, it always replicates the issue, otherwise it’s intermittent for me. Sometimes the game is black, otherwise, it starts to flicker with no movement or action in the headset while the tracking in game often continues to work. Rolling back to 577.0 to see if that helps.
Have a PSVR 2. Installed the free mod to see what this is about.
In settings selected SteamVR since PSVR is using SteamVR app.
Launch game. SteamVR never brings up the game. Can see game if going to desktop mode or theater mode.
While game is open no inputs work. No keyboard inputs, no gamepad inputs, no inputs from my PSVR2 controllers.
I have uninstalled the mod, the game, fresh reboot, installed the game, rebooted, installed the free mod, fresh rebooted again and everything in between. The game will never register inputs. My keyboard does work as I can press Windows Key and get the start menu up to do other things. I can also hit the PS home key to bring up steam interface so I know my buttons work but they are not registering with Cyberpunk itself.
I uninstalled the mod and selected default on every setting inside of cyberpunk 2077 before rebooting and reinstalling the mod just to make sure everything is good. Since there is 0 interface with the free mod the only way I can get the VR selector up (Steam / Meta / Other) is to just reinstall the mod again.
I’ve launched Cyberpunk 2077 letting it open Steam VR and I’ve launched Steam VR and then opened Cyberpunk with no luck.
I went on Steam settings and have enabled steam input override for Cyberpunk 2077. I’ve tried it disabled and enabled same issue both ways.
I’m on an i9900k with a 2080ti with the PSVR2 plugged directly into my 2080ti. I haven’t had issues with other actual VR games/programs but I can’t make this work. Nothing seems to do anything. Delete / left button + right button / and L3 or w/e gamepad is nothing brings up any settings like the mod installer says it does.
Any help would be appreciated cause I feel like I’ve exhausted all the troubleshooting steps I’ve seen on this forum at this point.
Frankly I can’t even really imagine how a driver update could cause such an issue. vorpX captures the game output before it is sent to the driver and sending the final image to the headset later works through the VR APIs (Meta/SteamVR/OpenXR) like in any other VR app. Not a single point in that pipeline touches the graphics driver directly. Very, very weird.
Either way, since for me 580.88 works fine, so that I can’t replicate your issue, all I can recommend is:
- Trying all three VR APIs in the config app, a Quest should work with all of them.
- Using a driver version that is working for you.
- In case this is related to a gaming laptop, try to disable the integrated GPU to ensure that games run on the same GPU that the headset is connected to, which usually is the dedicated GPU in a gaming laptop.
If you want, you can create a trouble shoot archive with log files and system infos in the config app and send it to support at vorpx com. Probably won’t show anything useful, but can’t hurt to look at it.
@Ralf
Is there anything from your end that can be done to fix this or is it purely an Nvidia driver issue?
Hello.
I’ve been using Vorpx for awhile now and it is great to get to play some games in G3D that you could not otherwise. Some technical questions or features that I’ve got in my mind though…
On Virtual Desktop \ Virtual Monitor, is there a way to create any resolution that I want or could this be a feature to maybe add to it? Like now I can create 1:1 aspect ratio resolutions that are something like 2804×2800, so 4 pixels wider and the only other option is the 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions. Would be cool to be able to create any resolution with numbers for width and height. Also using the Virtual Desktop \ Virtual Monitor, is there anyway to alt+tab out of it if my monitor is shut down? Sometimes you need to use something like Cheat Engine to mod a wider FOV in to a game and you need to alt+tab out when the game starts to start the Cheat Engine. Now, I can do this if I am not using Virtual Desktop and my monitor is running, but if I keep my monitor on, I cannot use the Virtual Monitor resolutions with games, only when the monitor is shut down I have access to these Virtual Monitor resolutions within games.
Something that I’ve also noticed and maybe its just me, but I’d love to be able to crank the sharpening higher sometimes. It is very game dependent if the maximum setting is enough or too much. Sharpness is very important, at least to my eyes when playing in VR and the Vorpx sharpening tool leaves me wanting more sometimes. Any recommendations for a way to add more sharpening? Obviously Nvidias own Sharpening filter does not work and I can’t use OpenXR-toolkit anymore since some PimaxPlay updates ago.
Thanks!
Vorpx gives you stereoscopic 3D, so it’s not like native VR, it’s more like using a 3D TV IMHU, but if you think that would be fun, give it a try!
VorpX is like native VR with a lot of games, but usually more beautiful, clearer&sharper with more display options, and most of the time no motion aiming / handling (it would require a mod). Some games even have great 6dof camera.
I don’t know about this game. There is an unofficial profile in the cloud section.
This game seems to allow an high FOV (something required to get proper full VR). You should usually choose a value around 112°.
So if the profile has headtracking & G3D, it’s probably like native (with the right resolution & FOV). It it has only headtracking and Z3D, it’s like native but with a lesser type of 3D.
Considering this is an unofficial profile, it’s hard to say what it does without testing it.
This game seems to use HPL Engine.
According to this website :
https://rjkole.com/gamestuff/engines/index.php?selengine=HPL%20Engine
there is G3D sometimes with this engine (Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Amnesia: The Dark Descent).
If it works, it probably require to play the game in DX11. This game seems recent so I don’t know if shaders will work in G3D without an official profile.
DirectX12 usually only allows Z3D but if there is a profile, it probably works.
I’ll let you know if I ever get it working or pymax works it out, i’d be happy with 1440p but im getting like idk, 200p lol. Regardless of what resolution things say 4k by 4k looks like 200p in vorpx for me, Its a headache to look at so doing it every so often. Il probably just wait till pymax or whoever works it out. It’s a great idea.
Ralf, I have sent a request via an gmail account.
Ive checked the spam and junk folders and have nothing still.
The email provider is also asking for any error screenshots you may of recieved.
So to circumvent this I have snet and email via gmail.
Sounds as if the game switches back to a lower res, which would be super weird. Never heard of anything like that before. Try to add a custom res in the nVidia control panel and then switch your desktop res to that res before launching the game. Some games limit their resolution to the current desktop res. A step-by-step guide for adding custom resolutins can be found in the vorpX help.
Running a game windowed may also help (again provided it doesn’t limit its window size to the desktop res).
If you want to use the full potential of your new Pimax headset you must run games at resolutions at or above 4K, i.e. 2160p or more. Roughly 3000p is what your Pimax Super wants as an input res with default SteamVR settings. Might be too much performance wise in modern games though.
If things still look pixelated when running a game at such high resolutions, there has to be something weird going on after vorpX sends the image to SteamVR, e.g. in the Pimax app or on the headset itself.
Ive tried everything and nothing is working. With the Quest i attach the game and it says theres no headset recognized. Then with PSVR 2 it just launches into the theatre mode. Ive tried different games, I dont know what to do. I just bought it, you would think it would work for 70 $ :(
Doing more testing today I can actually see it happen live, I’m in VorpX in a game, I change the resolution, when it applies its crystal clear looking like what it should be for about 2-3 seconds, it then disappears in the headset and reappears about 50% the res of what it was (Not in setting just in appearence). If you can guide me to what’s breaking or a work around would be huge and likely for a lot of people experiencing this. I’ve tried all the Device Selection Configs it’s all the same result the issue is 100% some interference between pymax and vorpX or something but how I described it is whats happening, I could try film it in through the lens to show you but take my word for it.
I’m reading contradictory things online. I am using a PSVR2 as my headset. Amnesia The Bunker is one of my favorite games of all time and would love to play it in VR if I can.
So does it work?
Thanks.
Please make sure to reset any SteamVR settings to default, same with the Pimax software. In the last “low resolution” post here in the end it turned out that the OP wasn’t able to go beyond 3000p. Even if you want to call that an issue, it’s probably a lot more than you are running your desktop with. So there has to be something else going on with your setup. vorpX captures the desktop at the res it is running at, same for games.
Aside from resetting everything to default: In case Pimax in the meantime has developed an OpenXR driver that doesn’t just use SteamVR’s OpenXR wrapper, switching to OpenXR instead of SteamVR in the vorpX config app might also be worth a shot.
As the title says I get a black screen using desktop viewer, I can still play everything and it still attaches but just can’t use desktop viewer on my laptop? Never once had this issue on my PC before I switched to a laptop.
