well, we are not all sommeliers of virtual reality, I believe that 75% of the “fantastic” judgment refers to the game itself. Then you know, vorpx has its limits. When I use it I don’t look at trifles, such as the imperfect depth of the gun with respect to the floor. Of course it doesn’t perform as well as with Bioshock infinite, but it remains one of the experiences with Vorpx! IMO

haintsParticipantYou can start with bioshock infinite, titanfall 2, bulletstorm full clip, resodent evil 7, resident evil 2 and 3 wot forst person mod.
Titanfall 2?
The official Titanfall 2 Vorpx profile is completely broken. By which I mean there is zero depth perception between your weapon and the background environment. Look at the ground and your weapon is a flat 2D object with the same depth as the ground. I can’t believe anyone would consider this playable, much less recommend it.
Bioshock Infinite, on the other hand, is indeed an excellent representation of what Vorpx can do at its best.

Woeful WraithParticipantGave Bioshock Infinite a go. Have to give it a nope after my first run with the skyhook thing. Just too much. Otherwise pretty great.

moarveerParticipantFingers crossed, thanks Ralf for at least giving it a look.
Quite off topic but talking about performance, I’m almost at the end of Bioshock Infinite with Vorpx using Virtual Desktop and Quest 2, god that game looks incredible in VR, and Asynchronous Spacewarp on VD gives sooo much better performance on Vorpx over Oculus Airlink, I’m running at 4k res in the game and smooth as silk on a 2080ti, and it’s incredibly sharp.

RalfKeymastervorpX sends keystrokes while the controller override is enabled. That’s the point of the override. Since many games can’t handle simultaneous mouse/gamepad input, vorpX comes with a well featured gamepad to mouse/kb emulator to deal with such games. However, as mentioned above, after running the DirectVR scan vorpX no longer needs to emulate a mouse for head tracking and thus the game’s inability to handle simultaneous mouse/gamepad input is not an issue anymore. Hence the gamepad override gets disabled after the DirectVR scan and the gamepad works natively. the same is true for a lot of other games, including Bioshock.
Can’t really explain it any other way, hope it was understandable this way.

OgrescarParticipantWell, at this point I feel like a total idiot. My initial assessment was correct – it was the Oculus Client messing things up, not Vorpx. I realized this after the problem occurred again last night and I tried to repair it with the game console, which failed miserably because it was already gamepad-enabled.
For some reason the Oculus client was hiding the controller and sending keystrokes and mouse inputs (sounds a bit far-fetched on the keystrokes, but I opened up the console, moved the left stick around, and saw it fill up with WASD’s). I checked some other games (Bioshock Infinite for example) and they also had the same problem, while other’s didn’t (Borderlands 3 and Witcher 3). Even some native VR apps had this problem, whereas Virtual Desktop was unscathed.
Anyway, I had to re-install the Oculus software 3 times and re-pair the controller a gazillion times before it took, so I’ll be getting a new hmd soon. If you’ve got any recommendations for anything that doesn’t have Oculus or Facebook written on it…
So…I was really having fun in Skyrim – I’d lost interest in the game before Vorpx, but now I’m back at it again. Vorpx was what I got my headset for, I just didn’t realize it at the time, so thank you very much (I found that with few exceptions that native VR games are {expletive deleted}, IMO).

rustydustyParticipantGot it working finally! It was as simple as just doing a full reinstall of Vorpx, I’m not sure why I didn’t try that earlier. Still weird that the issue only affected BioShock games, but I’m guessing a full reinstall isn’t a bad idea considering how many GPU drivers I’ve updated since the last time I used Vorpx about half a year ago, since it does hook to the driver and use specific directX runtimes.

RalfKeymasterWorks for me with a G2. I recall a similar issue with an earlier version of the WMR OpenXR runtime while developing the OpenXR vorpX support that was related to render target sizes. Maybe that’s back somehow. That should affect any game though.
If you happen to have the WMR OpenXR developer tools installed please make sure to reset everything to default in the developer tools.
The only other thing I could potentially imagine is that there maybe is some tracking calibration issue, although that should also affect any game. Might still be worth a shot to repeat the WMR headset setup.
BTW: The vorpX profiles for the original DX9 Bioshock 1/2 versions provide better DirectVR support incl. positional tracking via DirectVR. IMO that easily beats the slightly higher res textures you get with the remasters.

RalfKeymasterAll good. I believe you that you experienced what you described. like said above I’ll check whether I can replicate your issue somehow.
Thing is the game works perfectly fine under normal circumstances. It’s actually among the 100 best vorpX experiences you can get. I’d say what primarily adds a “whole other depth” to the game is vorpX bringing a flat game like Bioshock Infinite into your VR headset with the best possible DirectVR support imaginable, even including basic roomscale in this case. :)
But, again, of course I will check whether I can replicate your reflection issue.

RalfKeymasterWhere did you encounter missing reflections in Bioshock Infinite? E.g. the water reflections in the start area are perfectly fine. If memory serves right the very first profile version from 2013 used a color sampling trick instead of the original reflections, but that has been changed years ago.

XmetalholicXParticipantI get that you don’t want to release an official profile until you get it working the way you need it to be but is there a work around that we can do to at least try use?
Sidenote I might completely crazy but Mass Effect 1 LE seemed to work way better using the Batman Arkham profile as a base VS the BioShock.May 25, 2021 at 7:33pm #204326In reply to: Bioshock 2 frame huge rate drop at G3D
steph12Participantyou should play bioshock 2 original, not the remastered, original works much better in g3D with vorpx.
and yes, overhead is above 2X i believe but Ralf knows better.May 18, 2021 at 5:30pm #204137In reply to: Mass Effect Legendary Edition (DX11)

Nice !
Do you know if the performance of G3D will be as taxing as the Bioshock infinite profile, or if it should be smoother ?May 17, 2021 at 11:01pm #204113In reply to: Mass Effect Legendary Edition (DX11)
themeroteParticipantThanks, I used the custom launcher mod in the end as the game launcher is pointless so now I can just jump into all 3 games from the desk top. https://www.nexusmods.com/masseffectlegendaryedition/mods/46
All these settings work great, thanks so much, no crashes so far
Cinema mode
Head-tracking MP 0.00
HT Sensitivity 0.00
Geometry 2.00
Fluidsync on
Frameslimit 40-45fps – I used (Oculus Tray tool) for thisIn the Mass Effect in-game options change this settings.
4:3 Resolution
Borderless
Dynamic Shadows off
Blur off
Grain off
AA off
Ambient Occlusion offI also played with the FOV setting with the Bioshock Infinite profile and zoomed the screen all the way in. It looks great with hardly any borders.
It’s a great day to be able to play Mass Effect trilogy in VR, lets hope one day someone like Luke Ross works on a VR mod.
