Yes, that’s the SBS mode vorpX handles.

The way vorpX does it is actually even a bit better than half width SBS normally would be since images are always rendered at full width first and then scaled down to half width when drawing the SBS image, resulting in a 2×1 supersampled image with more preserved detail compared to directly rendering at half width.

So vorpX is actually rendering a full SBS image? Please let us choose to just display that image. Currently, rendering games in 1080p on a 1080p full SBS (3840×1080) monitor results in unreadable text. I need to go to at least 1440p for text to be readable which is very demanding and it sounds unecessary if the image is actually already rendered in full SBS and having to scale it back and forth is what destroys the image quality.

You can use SBS (2:1) + Stretch screen (aspect ratio option) = Normal 3D

Not sure what you mean exactly. My device has a native resolution of 1920×1080 per eye, so the resolution for 3D SBS is 3840×1080. If I set game resolution to this the image gets squished. “Stretch screen (aspect ratio option)” Is this a vorpx setting, I can’t find it. Or is there some other software I can use specifically for the scaling?

Normally I just set the game resolution to 1920×1080 (or 2560×1440 etc) and then vorpx works fine but the image quality is very degraded when I do this, something is messed up with the scaling. Changing nvidia scaling from “GPU” to “Monitor” made it a little bit better but it’s still messed up. I don’t have this issue with geo-11 and full-sbs but in my experience it’s compatible with way fewer games so it only works for a few titles, but the point is I know it’s not supposed to look as degraded as it does and the only reason I can think of is that something is going wrong with the scaling

For example this is how half life 2 looks at 1080p, the text is all messed up. But it’s not just the text or hl2, everything looks way lower res in other games like crysis 3 as well. https://postimg.cc/HrGxjpM7

You could at least use VorpX Desktop Viewer (with Immersive Screen display mode in very high resolution with VorpX Beta and ClarityFX+sharpness it can be very beautiful) but hooking an emulator without a profile may be hard. Maybe you can use SuperDepth3D. With VorpX SBS mode if you want. When I tried with another game, it looked worse than VorpX alone (at least on a displayport VR headset and very high resolution like 3840p), and 3D was worse too, but you would have 3D instead of usual VorpX image quality (it may not make such a difference on a VR headset with compression) .

It would be hard to emulate full VR, but you could try a first person mod :
    https://www.nexusmods.com/bloodborne/mods/11
And something like that to have headtracking :
    https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases
It would be better to be able to increase FOV too with something like that if it’s compatible (and necessary) :
    https://www.nexusmods.com/bloodborne/mods/76

    It’s just ideas…

I have a problem with 24.1vorpX Desktop Viewer. It won’t work. Clicking on “Start vorpX Desktop Viewer” no response. However, 21.35 works fine. This issue occurs on Windows 10 system.
I enjoy playing SBS format games with Start vorpX Desktop Viewer + geo11. However, once I start vorpX Desktop Viewer, the game in full-screen mode will be minimized back to the desktop (it won’t happen in windowed mode). Therefore, I want to upgrade to 24.1.

Hi Ralf, I was wondering if ClarityFX does work with Desktop Viewer “Side By Side” mode. I am testing a 3D solution and it doesn’t seem to be as enhanced as mono.

Given the Desktop Viewer is theorically able to generate any resolution we would need, it may also be useful to have a new option to cut the screen in half to have full horizontal resolution.
For example, we could create a 8:3 resolution in Desktop Viewer (we don’t have this option right now but why not ?) to play in 4:3 SBS with perfect image quality (if the game and/or 3D solution allow this kind of resolution).

I use the free app Bigscreen. You can use it directly on your Headset or on Steam of even Meta Store (if you have a meta). And then, in the settings of the desktop, you can change 2D to 3D (Side by Side, or SBS for mostly all use). I recommand this website to download 3D Movies (FSBS for Full Side by Side or 3840×1080 for better quality. Never take the ISO or Blueray RIP it won’t work.) https://3d-hd.club/

The main purpose of the vorpX desktop viewer is displaying the desktop, e.g. as a launchpad for playing games with vorpX without having to take off the headset in between game sessions. Besides that you can of course use it for any other task you consider it useful for, like watching SBS (and even spherical VR) movies or playing games with built-in SBS 3D support. Although in the latter case for various reasons it makes more sense to create a dedicated profile based on the ‘SBS 3D Base’ profile instead of using the desktop viewer.

    Hope that helps.

Hello, what is the purpose of the Vorpx desktop viewer? What methods are available for playing games in SBS mode?

    Hi,
Mad Max – G3D (Rift) [dellrifter22] and Red Ded Redemption profile don’t work. You can hook but there no depth in the picture on a 3D screen (TV 3D SBS).
Perhabs it is ok in VR but i use TV3D.

I try also dragon age inquisition because it used also Frosbite engine, but i can’t hook in this case.

    @mumblebadger
: i encontered also issues to hook, and uncheck the case “try to block known game overlays”, i also press ctrl alt shift on the overlay vorpx message and it works, but unfortunately, no 3D !!!… the image is sadly flat…

We will have to wait profiles…

Note : I try also Reshade with superdepth but the game crash. I have normally very good results with reshade (3D is very good in hodward legacy, assassin’s creed, ghost of tsuschima…)…
    Wait and see…

Playing Black Mesa with a ‘normal’ monitor FOV currently messes up the image due the DirectVR weapon handling, which moves the weapon out of sight in VR mode. At lower-than-VR-FOV it currently totally messes up the image though. Has been taken care of for the next build already, for now please switch to ‘Generic HMD’ temporarily and turn off automatic weapon handling on the DirectVR page of the menu. Then switch back to ‘Generic 3D Display’.

    That aside:

Like the message that gets displayed on each launch in SBS3D mode says, vorpX is made for VR primarily. SBS 3D was added on request and is not officially supoprted. Any potential expert settings are purely VR related, there aren’t any expert settingd for SBS 3D mode.

    Hi,
I started to use Viture One glasses with the “Generic Display” mode of Vorpx.
I started “Black Mesa” and selected a 4:3 resolution and had G3D, but the FOV is far too wide and after a couple of seconds the picture kind of zoomed in and stayed that way… weird! (I didn’t do anything to zoom in!)
Then I went into the in-game settings of Vorpx and whenever I change a setting, the picture zooms out again, until I close the settings menu – a couple seconds later the weird zoom kicks in again.
Also, I enabled the checkbox “Expert settings” in the config app, but in-game there are no expert settings in the menu! What?? Are they disabled for “Generic Display”??
Now I’m stuck, because the game is unplayable like that.
Anybody using Side-by-Side glasses who can help me?
    Help please!

If the glasses can handle standard SBS 3D, they should work with vorpX.
