I have tried on my own for a while to fix this problem, but cant seem to find a solution myself or on the internet.
Everything in VorpX works fine (thanks Ralf for everything), but every game I load is super zoomed in. I tried to mess with some of the FOV settings, but got nothing. If I move the “image zoom” slider on the in game vorpx settings down, the games look better perspective wise, but now I have a very small FOV.
Any help on why all the games seem to be really zoomed in? Thanks.

Aug 24, 2014 at 11:11am #16458RalfKeymasterFOV is the correct keyword here. The ingame FOV has to be set to a value higher than normal to get a natural looking image.
In Geometry 3D you can also change the FOV by using the 3D FOV Enhancement setting in vorpX.
The various methods how to do this are covered in the “How to get the most out of vorpX guide” in the documentation.
Aug 24, 2014 at 9:17pm #16534ShpinxisParticipantI have tried following the instructions in the VorpX guide and setting FOV to 120 (like in Skyrim) and it still seems very zoomed in. Maybe this is how the game looks? I also tried Dear Esther in which VorpX tells you to set the FOV slider all the way and so I did, but the game is still really zoomed in.
Aug 24, 2014 at 10:08pm #16537barstowParticipantYeah I’m having this problem to. Used the 3d fov enhancement on outlast. Seemed to help a little, but still felt zoomedcompared to how I’ve had it running before.
It’s really zoomed on slender the arrival as well.Aug 24, 2014 at 10:22pm #16540RalfKeymasterPlease check the “How to get the most out of vorpX guide” in the documentation.
It contains several strategies how to deal with FOV. In the best case you can set the FOV ingame or via an .ini tweak. The second best option would be to use vorpX’s FOV function. The last option would be to switch to another aspect ratio mode.
Aug 24, 2014 at 11:04pm #16541barstowParticipantYeah managed to tweak it in skyrim and worked really good after playing with the settings a bit. Realised that I wasn’t pressing OK SAVE so nothing was changing. Looks good now. Though in some games its impossible to keep the [del] menu open and the mouse cursor does not work so cant navigates vorpxs in game menus. Are there any fixes for that?
Aug 24, 2014 at 11:34pm #16542RalfKeymasterYou can also navigate and use the ingame menu with the cursor keys and [ENTER].

Aug 24, 2014 at 11:59pm #16548RalfKeymasterYou can restore the old behaviour by using the logarithmic aspect ratio mode (formerly known as “smart”) on the display page of the ingame menu. This was the default before but isn’t anymore.
Please note that this introduces additional image distortion (just like before).
Setting the FOV higher is the better solution in regard to a more natural image. Take the time to read the “How to get the most out of vorpX” guide in the documentation. It’s worth it.
Aug 25, 2014 at 7:06am #16568TresusParticipantWell guys, there was a problem I was having with HL2 before I realized it was stuttering and it started making me sick. Seemed zoomed in.
The problem wasn’t the FoV settings or anything. It was the fact that, for some reason, I was actually sitting too close to the camera so I was constantly leaning in in the FPS view.
I don’t exactly have five feet of room to even move if I want to reach my keyboard, so I’m stuck with it. Hope you all can make use of my theory, however.
Aug 25, 2014 at 3:34pm #16580homer2123ParticipantI also have this zoomed in Problem .
I tryed Battlefield 4 and i was so close to the soldier that i only saw a half weapon.
Also i installed bioshock 1 again and wanted to try but its also zoomed in extremly.
i tryed to use the optimized settings but nothing changes if i press F11 ingame . this doesnt change the fov .
Positional tracking doesnt even work on these 2 games and so that doesnt matter how far you sitting from the camera i tryed it by myself
Aug 25, 2014 at 3:53pm #16581RalfKeymasterPositional tracking is Skyrim only currrently. More games to follow.
Regarding FOV please refer the the “How to get the most out of vorpX guide” in the documentation. There are several strategies how to deal with this.
For Bioshock vorpX offers a pretty easy one by using the ‘Game settings optimizer’ in the config app. If the optimized settings are not applied for some reason in your case, you can also use the built in “3D FOV Enhancement” or edit the according .ini manually. You can usually find short tutorials for many games by googling for “FOV + gamename”.

HL2 has native support for the Rift.
Aug 29, 2014 at 5:35pm #16906sidniParticipantwhen I play the head tracking works when i look left and right but nothing happens when i look up and down. would anyone know why? and the game is zoomed in too much and everything is too big and makes me dizzy. When I was in game i pressed delete and the menu came up and I messed about with the 3D fov enhancement, that just made it look even more zoomed in. also in the config app it says press ‘~’ that key is not next to my number one key. I pressed it anyway then typed ‘fov 120’ nothing happens. Can anyone help please? Im dying here :(
