Do we still need this mod with the latest update to VorpX?Jan 25, 2018 at 6:26am in reply to: Which GTA V Graphic Options Can I Lower to Balance FPS/Visuals? #170340
I was thinking of trying some texture replacement mods. What would you recommend?
Head tracking (sometimes with full positional tracking depending on the game) and a fullscreen image–i.e. all you see is the game world as opposed to Cinema mode where you are playing the game on a virtual screen.
It works great with games like GTA V but it requires a beast of a system to run smoothly.
Haven’t tried with VorpX yet but it does run well with Tridef 3D (not sure if it is okay to mention that software here?) and Virtual Desktop. BUT … I gave up playing it because you can’t turn any of the stupid hand-holding HUD options off and in the end I just found them too annoying. Really destroys any sense of immersion to have a giant red X superimposed on enemies when you kill them, etc etc.
Thanks Ralf. I guess I’ll leave it as is, though there’s something odd that happens … after a while of playing with the 360 game pad, when I push backwords on the joystick I go forward instead, or kind of jerk back and forth. It’s like it is reading backwards on the joystick as both backwards AND forwards. It only seems to happen with GTAV. Maybe I’ll try an xbox one gamepad or the rift controller and see if this fixes my issue.
I want to say I really appreciate how much time you are putting in around here and the fact that I can always count on you for a response. As you may or may not know I was a harsh critic of VorpX for a while but the software has completely won me over. Now when I post about it on the Oculus forum I rave about it so much someone always accuses me of being the developer! I am actually having more fun playing games with VorpX on my Rift than I am playing actual Rift games, and I’ve played a ton of them. You could say that’s because games like GTA V, etc are just more fully realized than almost any VR game, and that’s true, but I would never go back to playing them on a flat screen without VorpX, because VorpX really makes them come alive.
Anyway–thanks again and if there is anything I can do to help get the word out, let me know!
>I can’t get the normal controller features to work right. I only want some adjustments with the right stick, but it seams like override all buttons too. A on my Xbox360 controller always starts recording clips,
Yeah, exact same problem here. Frustrating that it works so well but then basic things don’t work with the xbox gamepad, when the game itself is clearly meant to be played with one ….
Forgot to mention that VorpX disables Ironsites or at least prevents you from aiming this way by clicking in the right thumbstick. How do I get this option back?
GTA V has DirectVR FOV handling, no need for a FOV mod, which would probably cause a conflict even if it worked. You can apply a +/-20° offset on the DirectVR page of the vorpX ingame menu.
Be aware though that doing so will cause image distortion, the FOV computed by vorpX is objectively the correct FOV.
Yes, I see what you mean, Ralf. I tried adjusting the settings you specified and ended up going back to the defaults. Thanks for the information!Jan 16, 2018 at 9:14pm in reply to: Far Cry 4 looks GREAT in Cinema Mode. But Too Zoomed in with Full VR. #170172
Oh, I definitely wouldn’t dismiss it. I playing Hellblade like that and it is one of my favorite gaming experiences ever.Jan 13, 2018 at 1:12am in reply to: What Should I Upgrade to Improve Performance with VorpX and Hellblade, etc? #170034
I actually did end up setting most things to low but I’m still getting pretty bad framerates.
Okay–found the setting to curve the screen. Looks perfect now!
Thanks Ralf–great work with the new update!!!
It’s my impression that “Immersive Screen Mode” curves and “cinema mode” does not?
Can I change that?
What I’m looking for is “Immersive Screen Mode,” which looks awesome, but with a black background instead of ambient …Oct 19, 2017 at 10:20pm in reply to: How to Make Games Look More Focused and Less Blurry? #167708
Thank you both for your suggestions! I will try all of them.Oct 10, 2017 at 8:52pm in reply to: Resident Evil 7 + VorpX 17.2.1 = Transparent Shadow on Weapons/Hands #167580
No, it IS that bad. Your solution is to play the game without using weapons? That’s ridiculous.
I really wish we could have a fix for this. I was shocked the first time I saw my hands and realized there was a double image where the extra hands seems to erase whatever is in front of it. Looks very strange and is definitely distracting.
Yes, shadows/lighting are broken. This game has excellent 3D with Tridef.
