ParticipantJust booted it up and it looks great, but … like a lot of VorpX modified FPS games, the FOV is set so that you can barely see the weapon in your hand. For instance, you start the game holding a wrench, and playing in 2D the wrench is clearly visible, where as in Vorpx only the very tip of the wrench is visible.
I know Ralf sets it that way to get the correct FOV in FullVR but it doesn’t feel correct to me personally if I can’t really see what I’m holding in my hand. Curious to know if anyone has tweaked the FOV settings for Prey to make your weapons more visible? I’m going to experiment with various settings to see what I can come up with.
EDIT: I was surprised to find, given its age, that there were several mods available for the original Prey. Link for anyone who wants to check them out.

ParticipantI second luka’s recommendation.
First, this is just a great, underappreciated game! I greatly prefer it to the “remake” and it’s terrific in 3D. Hard to believe it is now abandonware, but anyone who hasn’t played it should absolutely give it a shot and I’m going to play it again myself.

Participant@ haints: There was a vorpX update earlier this year that addresses the weapon issue directly, and Titanfall 2 was among the first 5 games to get the new features.
Okay, that makes sense. I figured it had to be something like that, because having your weapon be the same depth as the ground beneath it in a FPS just seems so obviously a terrible idea. I’ll have to try Titanfall 2 again and see how it looks now. Thanks for the info!

ParticipantHaving tried both versions, I actually prefer the original Observer to Observer “Redux.” The Vorpx profile for the original has an excellent sense of depth and I would recommend just sticking with that.
I also played the original in its VR mode without Vorpx and the HUD/UI is invisible, making the game rather difficult to play. The first Vorpx implementation is the best way to play this game in our headsets, IMO.

ParticipantJust gave Titanfall 2 a run and that is awesome.
Again, I don’t understand this. Unless this profile was fixed since I last tried it, I’m baffled by the praise it is receiving. Are you not seeing what I’m seeing? If you look down at the weapon in your hand, isn’t it at the exact same depth as the ground beneath it? In other words, it just appears as a flat 2D object? How is that “awesome?”
What am I missing here?

ParticipantYou can start with bioshock infinite, titanfall 2, bulletstorm full clip, resodent evil 7, resident evil 2 and 3 wot forst person mod.
Titanfall 2?
The official Titanfall 2 Vorpx profile is completely broken. By which I mean there is zero depth perception between your weapon and the background environment. Look at the ground and your weapon is a flat 2D object with the same depth as the ground. I can’t believe anyone would consider this playable, much less recommend it.
Bioshock Infinite, on the other hand, is indeed an excellent representation of what Vorpx can do at its best.

ParticipantThanks for responding, Ralf!
I’ll boot it up and see how she plays.

ParticipantI’ll third this request. Kingpin is one of my all time favorite games, and it hurts to learn it was working perfectly with Vorpx before I got a chance to play it, and now it doesn’t work?
Ralf, what happened? Can we get an answer here?

ParticipantJust tried this myself and it is pretty bad. The claims that Doom works in G3D with Vorpx are false.

ParticipantIs the “split hand” issue fixed in RE 7 now?

ParticipantIf you have an nvidia card, you can run it in SBS 3D while waiting for the vorpx profile …

ParticipantAs far as I know Rage 2 runs on an OpenGL engine which doesn’t play well with vorpx.

ParticipantPlayed this with the Redux mod (best mod ever made) back in the day and it remains one of my favorite all time gaming experiences.

ParticipantJust in case anyone else wants to play this–there is a working profile for 3D Vision if you have an Nvidia card …

ParticipantYes, vorpX is the last survivor. I just got into 3D Vision since with migoto it now supports SBS 3D meaning I can use it on my Rift. It’s really good–the best 3D I’ve seen. Not VR though, but sometimes I prefer just playing on a virtual screen anyway. I’m going to keep to the older Nvidia drivers rather than give up 3D Vision.
