I play Skyrim original – (not SE) – as it looks nearly identical to SE in vorpx.
No FOV failures for me during Direct X VR scan.
The original Skyrim vorpx also has a rarely mentioned feature called internal resolution which allows to keep the 4:3 ratio but bump up the resolution. I use a bit of it (1.10 or so) but if i put it too high it makes it look too much like a game and kills the magic a bit :)

I’m playing throught Skyrim in Vorpx and enjoying it alot – here are some optimization tips:

    – Once Vorpx strips the unsupported elements from the special editions it doesn’t look much different than original Skyrim – I recommended playing the original for a slight speed boost.
    – Use the vorpx configure tool to set the resolution to 1280×1024 – you can then use the in-skyrim vorpx menu to boost up the ‘internal resolution’ (original skyrim only) without using a ‘wasteful’ widescreen setting. I don’t go much past 1.2 as it starts to look too ‘gamey’ :)
    – you don’t really need antialiasing pass 2…or maybe 1?
    – The detail falloff menu in skyrim is your friend – I’ve gotten nice fps gains by turning object detail fade on and adjusting the lod setting down.

Keep in mind bethesda games run a little slower in vr than you might expect but it’s still pretty incredibly immersive.

Thank you for the explanation- that’s definitely better than my original fix!

Fix Found (For Me) : Under In-Game VorpX > Display Settings >
Turn ‘Direct Mode Async Render’ to Off

Testing notes: while trying to figure out the issue I noticed the farther away from the ideal FOV the more the stuttering diminished. (It was gone at Fov 50 and Fov 200)

Time to get back to into Skyrim.

I can confirm the ‘same’ issue.
I built a new machine and skyrim (Original version) was running wonderfully under vorpx for a few days of play. The next day i have Head Tracking stutter and it won’t go away. No new drivers installed (although i can’t account for what Windows 10 does under the hood.) The other game i’ve played in Vorpx So far (GTAV) did not experience the issue. When the headtrack is disabled in skyrim itself but on inside the 3d lounge room it’s smooth as expected … It’s something to do with mouse input + skyrim + vorpx. I did install a 3d Vision mod but it’s been disabled – it’s the only mod I applied and was disabled before beginning vorpx play.

As the OP mentioned the issue is gone at resolutions under 1024×768.

I’ve changed the bMouseAcceleration=0 in skyrimprefs.

    Spec:
Mouse: logitech g600 (the issue remained after unplugging the mouse in-game)
    6 core i7
    windows 10
    16gb ram
    geforce 1070
