Ahh ok, simple fix then.
Thank youWesleypipes77ParticipantIs it possible that the config doesn’t open because I haven’t entered a registration key yet? It’s been awhile since I last installed and I don’t remember if I had registered before using the config app with previous installations. I didn’t want to waste using a key yet because I know from previous experience that I’ll probably be told I can’t have another key because I’ve used one too recently so that’s a scenario I was definitely trying to avoid.
Wesleypipes77ParticipantIgnore that last comment I went to edit it out but it was too late. I missed at first, Geforce experience might only cause issues with the hooking process but I can’t get to that point yet.
Wesleypipes77ParticipantThanks for the reply. Windows Defender was all I had running. I haven’t installed a third party AV yet since reformatting. I’ve been through the reformat & reinstall process quite a few times before and I’m not doing anything differently this time as far as the programs I have installed etc. it’s all setup the same as any time before when Vorpx worked fine and I’ve never ran into this problem before so it seems like the issue might be with Vorpx itself. I could be wrong but that seems to be the most logical explanation, I notice there has been a very recent update to the program do you think there may be an issue with the latest version? That’s really the only thing to my knowledge that is different this time compared to any previous working installations.
**** I checked the pinned post as well & the only thing I saw that may have applied was Geforce Experience. I always had Geforce experience installed before as well and it never caused a problem but I disabled it to confirm but that didn’t help either.****Wesleypipes77ParticipantLol, I just start the desktop viewer then play a movie through VLC or MPC, I haven’t had any issues with hooking in. I have had issues sometimes with MPC & 3D movies with the 2 images being a little offset it’s like you’re watching the movie cross eyed but if that happens I just use VLC and it’s worked fine for me. Sometimes it has become unresponsive as well, but a restart of SteamVR or a reboot of the PC has usually fixed that for me.
Not sure it this may be factor or not but do you have all your codecs up to date? Like Lav filters and the HEVC video extensions from the Microsoft store?
Wesleypipes77ParticipantPerfect, Thanks.
Wesleypipes77ParticipantNow that I’ve found the menu and played around with the settings a bit I rather like the desktop viewer mode. I’ll just use VLC to watch movies instead of MPC at least for now. I just changed the environment from the lounge so that guy on the couch isn’t an issue any longer. The only adjustment I wish there was that I don’t see is to raise the screen higher, but I found a workaround i just stand up and hold the headset above me until the screen is sitting about where I would like it.
Thanks for your help
Wesleypipes77ParticipantI just tried the same with VLC and it works fine there.
Wesleypipes77ParticipantOk thanks I just didn’t know how to get the in game menu, now it’s much better I can change a lot of the things I was wondering about. I did switch the image to SBS and it worked but for some reason the 2 images don’t line up now they are offset it’s like I’m watching the movie cross eyed. I didn’t see anything in the settings to fix that.
Wesleypipes77ParticipantAwesome thanks, I’ll check it out!
I’m trying to watch a 3D movie in desktop viewer but it only plays in split SBS mode showing the two separate images. Is there just some setting I haven’t changed in MPC yet? I don’t see anything that looks appropriate. It did say that it installed the MPC codecs when I installed VorpX and when I run MPC it shows that VorpX is injecting first so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong?
