I’m not sure if this feature is available, but would it be possible to get a hotkey that we can press to switch between each 3D modes when in game.
I’m playing Fallout 4 and I switch between Geographic and Z-Adaptive depending on performance. It’s a little tedious to have to press Delete, and then scroll through the options.
    Thanks

I’ve got Fallout 4 working in geometry 3D almost perfect now, however there seems to be a weird glitch around people and some objects.
It’s almost like large pixels around them.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks

    Heya,

I bought VorpX a few weeks ago and am having a ball in my Vive with it playing Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Now my problem is in the Virtual Cinema mode. I am using VLC with my Vive and it works great for most movies. But I can’t change any Virtual Cinema settings. For example I want to change the background in the Virtual Cinema to no Background, but I can’t find the settings to do so! In games, I press the DEL key and I can change all the settings I want, but in Virtual Cinema mode, I can only change the volume. And when I press the DEL key, nothing happens!

I also want to watch SBS 3D movies in VLC. When I play them through the VorpX Virtual Cinema, the movie plays, but it’s in 2 side by side windows, not interleaved as one. Again, pressing the DEL key does nothing. What am I missing here? I haven’t found any info in the VorpeX configs about what key to use in the Virtual Cinema mode to change anything.

    Help!

Fallout MODS (Using Nexus Mod Manager)

    • Ultimate Engine by Extark
    • Interiors Enhanced – Darker Ambient Light and Fog by fadingsignal
    • Bullet Time – Slow Time by registrator2000
    • Lower Weapons (for more screen space)
    • FO4 Hotkeys by registrator2000 (override VATS with BulletTime, also override “Xenon_Select” to not change FOV and press Insert for edge peek from controller)
    • Fallout 4 – Texture Optimization Project by torcher (for speed)

I also use JoyToKey to make the “select” button on the joypad trigger “EdgePeek”. This is quite a bit of setup, but the effects are pretty fantastic.

Are there any other settings out there that others have tried?

I’ve been working towards a good Fallout 4 configuration and wanted to find out if anyone has tips on what’s worked for them. I’ve tinkered with mods, settings, and utilities to get the best experience. Here is the setup I am running with thus far:

    VorpX

    • Z-Normal
    • Separation 1.2
    • Use Direct Head Tracking (Must be run in every game session). Sometimes this must be run multiple times. If the arrow pad doesn’t do the quick swtich, running it again sometimes corrects it.
    • Disable mouse acceleration

Thanks alot for the tip Hannes.
I tried using the war hammer profile as you suggested and imported the ESO.exe, it gives me the geometry option, but my right eye is black when i use it. The HUD shows but none of the actual in game environment. Please let me know if there is any way I can fix that. However the Z3D options work and do provide a slight 3D effect, so it will do for the time being I suppose. I really wish they would add the full 3D back to ESO, I never even got to experience it :(

Can any one tell me how is the Fallout 4 vorpx experience. Im looking forward to playing that full in VR as well. I’m just loving Skyrim in VR after I got all the proper mods and settings right. Unfortunately I only get 30 fps with a GTX 970. A few more frames would be nice, but I haven’t tried to go below ultra setting yet. Gonna be playing all the good Location Quest mods in VR, any recommendations?

Thanks Ralf. So it’s a performance problem. You’re right about Z-Buffer, it is convincing and light, but Fallout 4 in Geometry is really amazing: I will try to reduce some graphic options, even because until now I tried with all almost to the maximum, apart from the effects disabled by your excellent VorpX. I play with a a single 980Ti, and it’s still smooth at Ultra details with Z-Buffer 3D.

Most PCs are not fast enough for Geometry 3D to work with Fallout 4 on Vive. The OpenVR runtime doesn’t handle low frame rates very well, you have to make sure to run games with 45fps+ on Vive. Normally you should see a warning in this regard.

For Fallout 4 that means that Z-Buffer 3D is the right choice. Especially if your are playing with Vive. The Oculus runtime is more forgiving in this regard.

Last night I saw this thing potentially interesting (but I’m not a programmer). Fallout 4 did not work with the lastest VorpX and HTC Vive, but he did it when I put the 3D Vision fix taken by Helix Blog, despite reporting a conflict error with a dll. The result, though, is that the game work very well with all options except Geometry, that works but with annoying flickering on the lenses, perhaps for synchronization errors. I heard that some of you have problems with HTC Vive, and maybe can give it a try.

Blizzard would have to program it into the game tho.
Their own version with checks and balances inside the walls.

Because if you notice when playing a game like Fallout 4 on VorpX.
You can move your head around on the Vive and even peek through walls.
I assume the same goes with Oculus.
Essentially making the HMDs into a type of wall hack for multiplayer games like CSGO, TF2, and Overwatch.

    Someone want to verify this?
Into your own private match of course.

    Edit:
Actually just read head tracking is only enabled in Fallout 4 at the moment.

    vorpX 16.2.0 has been released.

    -CPU: i7-6700k (OC @4.5 ghz)
-GPU: GTX 1080 Hybrid (Will Overclock to ~2GHz; ~10% gain)
    -Mobo: ASUS Z170-A
    -PSU: Corsair AX860i
-RAM: CORSAIR 16GB DDR4 2400, CAS 10 (read Fallout 4 did better with fast ram cas/frequency)
    -Storage: 950 pro
    -Liquid Cooling: Corsair H80i
    -Case: Corsair 760T

I did my research and this setup is what I decided on because it will deliver, I think, very good VR performance with Vorpx. I’m waiting on the 1080 hybrid so haven’t been able to test it with the CV1 with Vorpx yet but I was curious what does anyone think the performance/fps will be for these games (Fallout NV, Fallout 4, Skyrim, and GTA 5). Thanks.

Everytime I try to open a game, say fallout, it instantly crashes, the same goes for all steam games.I try Star Citizen and nothing happens to my Vive, but the game opens on the desktop.

Do not tweak too much. While there are many options available, the only two things that absolutely must be addressed are field of view (FOV) to get a natural image and head tracking sensitivity for proper 1:1 tracking.

Popular games that are usually considered working well are for example: Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, Fallout 4 (G3D probably too slow on most PCs though), Borderlands 1 + 2, Portal 2.

In general you should be able to get almost any first person game working to a satisfactory level by adjusting FOV and head tracking sensitivity.

The vorpX help also has a short guide describing a quick and dirty setup that works with almost everything very quick (“The 1-2-3 Game Setup”). It usually doesn’t provide the best possible result, but gets everything to a playable state.
