Awesome, how is your fallout 3 set up? This is the main game I’d like to play with vorpx but I can’t get it to hook (posted a thread in general asking for tips).

Do you have the steam version of the game? Mods? Resolution that works?

    Thanks!

Fallout 3 is listed as a supported game, but I don’t seem to be able to get it to hook. I renamed d3d9.dll and tried various permutations of setting up the DK2 as direct to rift, extended as primary and extended as secondary and nothing worked. Game resolution is set to 1920 x 1080. I tried using my rift user profile and also not using the profile and entering IPD manually. I have the steam GOTY version of fallout 3 and a dozen or so mods and use nexus mod manager.

Can anyone confirm vorpx works with fallout 3 on 64-bit windows 7 with the dk2?

If so, I may try a fresh install of the game w/out mods, then add back a few of the mods that people seem to report as working OK with vorpx.

    Thanks!

    I changed settings in data\menus\prefabs\DUIF3Setting.xml
Maybe an important note: screenshots and settings are from Fallout 3.
Almost forgot – this is the only HUD mod I’ve tried so far.

OK I’ll check that out moving those would be great. I noticed it was Moriarty’s after looking closer :) I think a lot of the mods I listed probably have a Fallout 3 equivalent. You got a lot of adjustment from just editing the file. In NV you can use the mod menu to move them around with arrow keys. The only thing is that it doesn’t have all the HUD, like item/text boxes.

This mod is a life saver too. It lets you adjust the FOV of Iron sights. I set my in game FOV to 120 with the FOV slider mod. Then in this mod you set the iron sights all to 120 FOV. Now when you raise up it doesn’t zoom or anything your just on your own with your wits and your sights. I love it, Its challenging in all the good ways.

They are all really great mods. When used together you can get some really good results.

    Will check them out, thanks.

Have you found a mod that lets you adjust where the activate(talk/pickup) text appears and things like that? Also being able to adjust the size of the HUD element would be great. Found any that do that?

If you mean that red “coffee mug” message in the screenshot, then yes, you can move it around. Actually all HUD elements in screenshots can be moved around in Darnified. But i couldn’t find a way to change the size of stuff.

I also tried a bit more permanent solution: Darnified UI allows to setup all HUD elements manually,

I set up most of my HUD with a few mods and It’s now a lot better. The only thing is there are still some HUD elements that you can’t move. Have you found a mod that lets you adjust where the activate(talk/pickup) text appears and things like that? Also being able to adjust the size of the HUD element would be great. Found any that do that? There is a great mod for Skyrim that lets you adjust basically everything(size, location, angle) its crazy. Would be great to have one that does all that for Fallout.

ok,I have information here, possibly useful…

I will try out this tweak thanks

Apparently the mod enhanced camera, could solve any of these problems.

In a external forum user ghettocat2007 says:
You need to make a small change to the NVSE_EnhancedCamera ini file (located in Data, NVSE, Plugins,)
    You will see the below
Can be set to a high value (e.g. 15.0) to disable zooming in during dialog
Unlike the fDlgFocus setting in Fallout.ini, this does not affect VATS
    fDlgFocusOverride=1.0
    Change the value to 16.0
    ta da no more zooming

PD:The message seems to be a fallout new vegas addressed, but I think it was a good idea to test.

    sorry my English,greetings.

Is there any way you could make scaling an option? If toggling the scaling will make it function more like this pip-boy:

Then I would be all about that. Its an old video of some guy messing around in Fallout VR and the Pip-Boy screen “stays” with the in game pip-boy. Might be easier to navigate at least for this game. The adjustment of the UI is great for games that don’t have a modding community dont get me wrong, I love the feature. Fallout/Skyrim have a bunch of crazies modding them all the time and UI/HUD mods aplenty, so in this instance maybe the scaling isn’t as critical? The pip boy thing is about the last thing for Fallout then Id say it’s perfect for a VR experience.

Oh, didn’t know about that alt+mousewheel hotkey, thanks Ralf!
I also tried a bit more permanent solution: Darnified UI allows to setup all HUD elements manually, so in Vorpx settings UI scale and Image zoom are set to 1.00 and after all manipulations game HUD looks like this
    Fallout 3 screenshot
    fallout screenshot zoomed out

EDIT: it seems i failed to attach screenshots properly, so if anyone interested, i can send direct links.

Never noticed that, most Fallout work was done in FO3. Probably a side effect of the HUD handling. I’ll take a look at it, but this may not be solvable without sacrificing the HUD scaling.

I’m not sure if the HUD handling that vorpX uses for Fallout would allow that currently, might or might not be the case. Shoot me a mail sometime next week, and I’ll check whether that would at least be theoretically possible.

    Hi,
Can you make an option to where the HUD layer also “tilts” diagonally with the head tracking? Essentially “unlocking” the HUD layer.

I am working on a mod for a mod. The mod is Project Nevada. If you don’t know about it, it’s an extensive mod for Fallout NV that adds a lot of cool stuff and game play changes. One of them is a visor overlay for different helmets such as power armor. The ones it comes with are much too large for when in a VR environment. I have figured the sizing part out and I have it “shrunk” down so you can use it in the Rift. It’s really cool how much it makes you feel like your in a set of power armor.

The problem is that when you tilt your head diagonally the visor overlay is part of the HUD layer (I think) so it doesn’t tilt with your head. I know its not a priority but it mite be a cool option for other games too, and it would make this twice as cool.

I have the same problem, both with Fallout 3 and New Vegas. If I change UI settings in vorpx, i can’t use pip boy. If don’t change UI – I can’t see HUD.
Is this a common problem with Fallout games?

I have been tuning Fallout NV in with the new updates features and I noticed something. I’m wondering is everyone’s Pip-Boy screen locked in the upper left hand part of the screen? I have an insane amount of mods on so who knows if its from that.

So it basically only renders the view it thinks your facing so decoupling would in a way “confuse” it and sometimes not work?

What about highly modifiable games like Fallout or Skyrim? Would that be more of a user made type mod?

On games it works with it would be cool to have the option even if isn’t that many. Is it a fairly varied process that depends on how each game works, thus requiring a lot of effort to even test to see if it works? Anyway good to know, thanks.

Hi, besides having some problems with getting vorpex to work with the rift (
    viero worked instantly)
    I got it run finally.
But now there is a problem. 3d is working fine the vr key menue, too.
But despite all adjustments i made i have somehow double pictures.
For example if you look at a ball it will be like two merged with a little skew .
Mouse , hud and even the virtuel mouse is looking fine.
Nvidia 970 gtx, latest driver, i5.
    Rift as primary.
As well i cant see the rift image on my Second screen Samsung 55 inch screen.
    any ideas
