If by chance Sea of Thieves is structured the same as other Unreal 4 games, you could try adding the below for an FOV increase:
Open (or create if does not exist) Engine.ini found in C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\(Sea of Thieves)\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Add at the bottom and save:
[/Script/Engine.LocalPlayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV

Try Borderlands 3, Conan exile, Darksiders 3, Halo master chief collection ,Remnant and Star Wars Jedi Fallon Order.
To the best of my knowledge all the games above are Unreal 4 engine which is the same as Sea of Thieves.
Bioshock Infinite runs on the older Unreal 3, Sea of Thieves looks to run on Unreal 4.
Try a few other profiles based on Unreal 4, like Hellblade or Conarium.
Check RJK’s handy engine list here for a more complete list.
I’m glad to hear you can at least hook the game with vorpX. I’ve added it now to my wish list. Let us know if you find a working 3D. Thanks, and keep up the great work with your channel – my go to for vr tech.
SOT is now available on steam, so it means so more weird microsoft store protection :P it runs on Unreal engine, anyone had any luck? I’m installing it right now
I’ve figured out how to properly use cinema mode and switch it into full vr mode so I’ve been playing sea of thieves in that lately.
I’ve been trying to see if this would work with another UWP store app game as well ‘Sea of Thieves’ but I haven’t been able to get any profiles to hook into the game properly yet. They all seem to fail with no info, game doesn’t crash or anything.
Wait, are you playing from the Microsoft Store? If so that might be your problem. See thread about Sea of Thieves, mentioning store protection blocking vorpX.
I noticed Astroneer was part of Xbox PC game pass so I signed up for $1 to try it out, but I guess my older 1803 windows version won’t let me install this and some other games.
So I installed Ori Definitive instead to test. VorpX wouldn’t even attempt to attach until I acquired rights to the WindowsApps folder to find it’s own version of Ori’s exe. Once I added that to vorpX, it now attempts to attach, but ultimately fails. Now I’m uncertain if it’s a dx12 issue (I don’t know how to check or change with the Store luancher), or if the store DRM is preventing the hook.
Perhaps Ralf can chime in to let us know if any further testing has been done with recent Microsoft Store, or if it is still a no go for vorpX – in which case I would need to cancel my game pass immediately ;) .
I noticed several vorpX games listed on the pass already. Might be a worthwhile investment if it does work with vorpX.
I’ve been led to believe the windows store includes some active DRM that might block vorpX, though I’ve never installed anything from the store to try. I’m curious if anyone has had success with any windows game.
Seems like people were trying for Sea of Thieves (another windows exclusive), but didn’t have luck with vorpX.
The Forza games do seem like they would be pretty cool in VR. If it were on steam I’d probably have it by now.
It’s interesting that the developers said that they used VorpX to try VR out to see if it native VR would work: https://www.techradar.com/news/no-virtual-reality-on-the-horizon-for-sea-of-thieves
Its unreal engine but the Microsoft store security and permissions on the executable are so convoluted i haven’t been able to try any of the usual unreal profiles. Anyone else with success?
It is essentially a a beautiful first person sailing simulator with pvp pirates and treasure hunting so it might be great in vr.
