I have been using Vorpx a lot lately after getting my Oculus Rift, Absolutely Awesome playing Skyrim on it. However, I got to wanting to try other games and noticed Cloud Profiles as a tab, and learned I could download more. I might be stupid, but are these profiles used somehow like the game settings optimizer? Or do these profiles just add support? I am confused on the function of these. Can someone explain?

the problem i get with my gtx 1080 is that whenever i used vorpx to play a supported game, my gpu is always used between 40% and 70% it is never used at its full power, let alone my i7 5820k @ 4.5 ghz who is barely used.

i dont know why but vorpx dont want to use my full pc power thus i’m getting bad fps on almost every game, for example i have almost the same fps in skyrim on low/medium and high and whatever the resolution i’m using, i mean sure i get better fps on low setting with low resolution but it’s not groundbreaking, maybe 10fps more at best….

    something is wrong.

It was a while before I was finally able to get my hands on the 1080 Ti, but my god, I’m getting nearly 50% better framerates as compared to the 1080. Before I was having to play Skyrim on medium with the shadows turned down, but now I’m able to play it on high @ 1600×1200 with 2x internal resolution, an unbelievable improvement.

By the way Ralf, if you’re seeing this, you should really have vorpx default to fluidsync = OFF for Skyrim, it’s not possible to get good framerates with it enabled. Also, I was having severe issues where vorpx was detecting all dx9 games as having a render area of 1×1 until I completely uninstalled Nvidia 3D Vision. You might want to explicitly include that suggestion somewhere, too, because I think your basic troubleshooting only suggests temporarily disabling the driver or something.

I’m interested in how to get it to work.
If you can publish your (enblocal, skyrim pref ini and nvidia settings)here, as any extra information you deem appropriate, grateful

I didn’t do anything special and it works for me, except that the first time I start Skyrim, it comes up on the monitor instead of VR: I get the ‘TESV.exe is taking a while to start’ message, but VorpX never switches to VR.

The second time, it usually comes up with no problems.

I also run with the ENB Injector, but all ENB graphics options disabled, to get the ENB memory manager to prevent mod crashes.

    Hey Prinyo,

Yep I have SKSE and TESV.exe defaulted to run admin mode. I have tried with both on and off.. though it wont work without SKSE in admin mode.

SKSE is set wit the following for me
    Binary: D:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Skyrim\skse_loader.exe
    Start in: D:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Skyrim

    Any other ideas by chance?

    Cheers,

    Mand

I’m having the exact same issue but in Skyrim. It appears that when I enable direct vr it changes the gamepad settings from the normal in game keybinds to the emulated vorpx keybinds. If I then go back and disable direct vr the gamepad works perfectly normal again.

It’s almost as if there is a bug that is sometimes forcing the override x-box gamepad setting to be forced on as the gamepad works the exact same way it does in direct vr as it does with this setting. As an additional note, this only happened recently since I got the vive controllers so there may be some bug with the gamepad settings that are specific to those conflicted with the other gamepad settings.

Ralf – any idea? As a quick band-aid if you could add an update that allowed the override game pad setting to be changed on and off that might fix it.

EDIT – I was able to fix the problem by changing the override game pad setting to hide. OK & Save, then restarting the game and then re-enabling direct vr.

    Two more things to check.

Are you running SKSE as admin (skse_loader.exe). I run TESV.exe also as admin, but not sure if it is necessary.

Did you fill the “Start in” in MO in the link to start SKSE.
    In my case :
    Binary: E:\steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\skse_loader.exe
    Start in: E:\steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim

    Thanks for responding Prinyo!

I get the error when I try to Run skyrim via MO through SKSE. Both Vorpx and MO in admin mode.

I’ll continue to goof around with it while I play in VR via NMM but i know modding is just not as easy in the way I like to do it without MO.

If you have any ideas on what I can try let me know!

    Cheers

So figured it out! Vorpx and enb working together.
I can open the enb gui ingame and change setings that take effect in the game. If someone is interested on how to get it work i can post my eblocal and skyrim pref ini and the nvidia settings here.

Next step i plan ist to use the dx9.ini settings from helix mods to inject atleast reshade 2.0 because 3.0 wont work with oculus latest sdk…

    peace out!

    New user of vorpx here….

So far I can’t get Skyrim to launch in it, though the very first time it did launch and all I clicked was the DirectVR scan as advised. After closing and relaunching it has never launched again correctly, only with a black screen window on the desktop and the sound from the game.

I’ve tried every setting with Vorpx to reset to default and even loaded a few profiles from the cloud profiles area but nothing has got me past this.

Any ideas where to look/fix this as it did launch the first time but now nothing :(

    Hallo,

I’m having the same issue–Skyrim was working absolutely flawlessly, but it seems that after the latest Oculus driver update that’s no longer the case. Exactly as the OP describes, the DirectVR scan no longer works–instead of showing the overlay with its various status bars, the image will just freeze for a few seconds, and then when it’s moving again, the geometry of the head tracking is still completely skewed like you’re using the z-buffer setting instead of the geometry setting. This is so depressing because as obnoxious as Oculus is, I don’t think there’s any way to roll the driver back, and you aren’t even able to use Oculus home unless you do update. ugh.

Ralf, please update VorpX as soon as you can, I really want to play Skyrim again.
