    Hello Everyone,

I know there are a few posts out there around Mod Organiser and from what limited info there is its not very promising on getting it to work with VORPX easily. Curious to see if anyone has been successful in using Mod Organiser and getting it to hook when you Launch SKSE.

Personally I get a failure message if I run both programs in admin (Launching “\steamapps\common\Skyrim\\TESV.exe” failed (5).) If I dont run with admin mod the game runs but doesnt hook at all.

Curious to see if anyone else has had any luck and if so any tips on how I can get it to hook properly!

I know NMM works and I am using that currently as a result. However, my personal preference would be to use MO vs NMM if there is a solution on how to get it to hook properly.

Until then I’ll Skyrim in VR Through NMM :)

One day I’ll figure out how to get the ENB Injector version and VORPX to work properly but first MO!

Thanks Ralf for all the hard work. Vorpx has been a great way to experience VR and worth every penny!

Thanks also to any who can give me tips on how to get MO to work also :)

    Cheers,

I’m sure you got some weird configuration with the custom resolution, set to regular lowest resolution and your monitor to regular resolution if don’t work uninstall completely skyrim and redownload unless you know where the ini is and you can replace it. checking integrity of files isn’t enough at your point.
heh glad you got the problem solved

since you changed to a custom resolution did you try reinstalling NVidia drivers. I have a r9 fury and cv1 and running skyrim se perfectly here with no custom resolution.. well text reading isn’t best but didn’t want to change anything in my amd settings, or maybe you can check windows update to see if it was updated lately while you didn’t know? I would doubt its anything other than that since you were just playing it.

Closing all unnecessary background programs was one of the first things I tried and that didn’t work.
The first time I started VorpX, I launched it in Administrator so that I could launch SKSE and it worked fine then. I’ve tried deleting the VorpX optimized settings ini from Documents/MyGames/Skyrim and that didn’t work either.

Im currently reading about Texture pack mods causing a problem since they increase GPU memory usage and so does VorpX. I’ll see if that works.

well I am a new user of vorpx myself and have had a few hours of problems before I could load it properly. first would be to reboot by first doing a msconfig and close all unwanted start up programs and then start vorpx in administrator before loading skyrim.
maybe try to reset the settings in vorpx by load preset for skyrim anyways as well. that worked for me.
I’m not sure if you remove the vorpx program if it keeps some data for next install on your computer.

I was able to set up my settings and play the game in Direct VR and play for several hours without any problems. I turned on my PC earlier today and tried starting Skyrim only to have it crash right after the Bethesda logo. Thought it was just a load issue so i tried again, again, and again with no success. Have already verified Integrity of Game Files and even reinstalled Skyrim. Also did a Factory Reset of VorpX.

To check if the issue was with Skyrim or VorpX i started up both Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3, both work fine without any problems.

Ive beeen looking around for a few hours now and havent found a solution that works for me. Anyone have any ideas or know why its crashing?

    Skyrim Game Settings:
    Windowed: 1280×1024
    Antialiasing: Off
    Anistropic Filtering: 16
    Texture Quality: High
    Radial Blur: Medium
    Shadows: Medium
    Decals: High
    FXAA: ON
    Water Options: All ON

-These are the same options when i originally set up VorpX for Skyrim.

    My PC Specs:
    Ryzen 7 1800x
    EVGA GTX 1070
    500GB SSD
    3TB HDD 7200rpm
    32GB DDR4 3200

so i am back, yesterday i had some succsess atleast a bit. I fired up the enbinjector and started skse after tabout three to four times the game started and i got the enb boost notice on the skyrim loading screen. But thats all because the game froze and i got the loading screen and sound .
(Somtimes waiting for two or three minutes the game will start )
Today ill try some more setting in enb boost and skyrim pres.ini. I noticed changes in ipresentinterval and some other changes were resulting in different effects . I will keep on trying to get this to work, since i loved it playing with the DK2 and all the reshade and enb features….
    keep u updated.

Direct VR scanning for New Vegas, Skyrim, etc gives a very near native VR feeling experience. I’m having a blast playing New Vegas at the moment.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for responding. I get this error with Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, Mirror’s Edge and Alien Isolation. I got the same missing dll error as well. The workaround isn’t that great because most of the time I’m not quick enough to resume the watcher in time for it to properly hook. The Steam games that still work are Skyrim, The Forest, Borderlands 2 and Fallout 4. Thanks for the info about the log. I’ll let you know if I figure anything out.

    Peace \/

Ok, looking for information on my old hard drives,I found this information about “patching” big hands on Skyrim, which I mentioned earlier, with Ralf’s response included.

    Ralf comments:
In regard to the big hands:
    1. Open [Documents]\My Games\Skyrim\Skyrim.ini with a text editor
    2. Set the fDefault1stPersonFov value to 120. If it doesn’t exist, add it under [Display]
    3. Save and run Skyrim. You may need to swap between third and first person or even open the quad (star) menu and from there the map to apply the new value for some reason. After doing this once it will stick.

    —————————————————————————-
    Additionally Grumdark comments:
I am sure that applying step 2 and 3 was completely necessary in my case to fix the problem.
In addition to these steps, I increase a little value by default, for the (3dscale) option in vorpx menu,to get a slightly better result yet.
Final results were much better, after applying these changes.

Take a look though, to make sure that any possible value in the enhanced camera mod file could interfere with, overwrite or prevent result.

I suspect a clean Win 10 Install may. by virtue of removing everything, fix the issue. However its a very large undertaking with currently nothing to suggest it will solve the issue. It could well be that in re-setting the computer back up the same “conflict” will arise. I must also ponder on why other users with almost identical specs and software do not have the same issue. Although this is a dedicated gaming machine there is a lot of software I would have to re-download, which is very time consuming on satellite internet.

I would create a new topic but I don’t want to overly-spam Ralf with this issue. I have sent in the logs to support via e-mail and tried to make contact in a variety of ways but heard nothing back for a month now. Considering he is active on the forum I must assume he knows of my issue, although I currently can’t guess as to why I have had no response at all. Until I hear something “official” back I will just have to give up my Skyrim play through and general VorpX use. Hopefully either 17.2.2 will come out and magically fix the issue, or I’ll get some response.

Thanks for the thoughts and help though. Its been a frustrating issue and I really do appreciate people trying to help :-)

I’d be looking at isolating some issue with the VorpX install from 17.1 -> 17.2. I don’t say it lightly but a fresh install of Win10 would most likely work. The unidentified issue would remain unidentified but you’d be enjoying Skyrim in VR.

If that’s not an option then I’d start a new post with the title ‘17.2.1 no DirectVR option’ describing this phenomenon… hopefully the author will give his opinion (if he hasn’t already).

The lines at the top of your log file (“INF: CHECK: HOORAY!”) are not present in my log file but maybe they were present for earlier builds… this could be evidence that your VorpX install is stuck at an earlier (non-DirectVR) build. Again, difficult to troubleshoot and adequate reason to re-install.

    Thanks for the response!

A month with a 1080ti and no VR Skyrim! That’s torture.

    Indeed it is!

Your summary is almost right… everything works as intended apart from the scan. It is worth pointing out that the problem is in all games, not just Skyrim so that should rule out issues with SKSE, etc (although I am running vanilla Skyrim). I use Fallout 4 as a good example as this is a fresh install and the scan worked for me previously there. So at worst I can play with head tracking as mouse emulation.

I assume you’ve got the three necessary apps running… Oculus Client, VorpX (v17.2.1 running in the taskbar with ‘Device Selection’ set as ‘Oculus Rift’) and you’re starting Skyrim via Steam. Because you’re having trouble you’re running no mods whatsoever (so no SKSE).

    Correct

I also assume that non-VorpX VR titles are working without issue.

    Correct

Launch Skyrim from Steam. From ‘Options’ set as ‘Aspect Ratio (4:3 or 5:4)’ to ‘1280×1024’) and ‘Windowed Mode’, then ‘Play’. The monitor should show a black window with the VorpX logo bottom middle and the app starts in the Rift.

    It does, yes.

On or before the Skyrim main menu did you see a message window that says ‘DirectVR supported. Partially cached’ and ‘Recenter tracking if it feels odd in any way’?

I get the ‘Recenter tracking…’ message. I don’t get “DirectVR supported, Partially cached” in any games (Bioshock 2, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Dishonored, Deus Ex)

Still in the Skyrim main menu (before selecting ‘Continue’ to start game) can you press ‘Del’ on the keyboard to bring up the VorpX in-game panel? In ‘Main Settings’ there’s a bunch of options starting with ‘Virtual Cinema Mode’ which should have a ‘Direct VR scan Alt+L’ option below. Is this there and can you left-click it if it is?

When I press the Delete key the menu pops up with, as you say, the Virtual Cinema option at the top. The only buttons I get are “Alter FOV” (this just attempts to open the Skyrim console and enter “fov 110” – I only have this button in certain games and “Recenter Tracking (Alt + Space)”. There is no ‘Direct VR scan Alt+L’ button. It is worth pointing out I used to have this as of Vorpx version 17.1. As of 17.2.1 it has disappeared…

Hi. It sounds like you can get VorpX to display Skyrim in the Rift but there’s no DirectVR functionality… is that right? The game loads up in the HMD and you can play even though head-tracking is all over the place. From your posts you seem to say that there’s no Direct Scan option in the VorpX in-game config panel and Alt+L isn’t doing anything.

I agree with Wildan, you probably just have Virtual Cinema mode on. It should be all around you not just in a screen in front of you. Virtual Cinema is great for some situations, like 3rd person games. I promise once you get something working like it’s supposed to you will understand. Skyrim, Fallouts, BioShocks, RE7, and even Half Lifes are game you will probably never play flat again once you see it in it’s full glory.
