Most of the people in this world cannot tell the difference whether it is ray-traced. It’s just a huge game played by gpu manufacturers who want your money. Don’t fall for it.
Fallout: New Virtual Reality brings virtual reality motion controls into Fallout: New Vegas and VorpX. With vanilla VorpX and NV, your gun is strapped to your face and you shoot directly where you look. Using this mod, your weapon will follow your hand and shoot in the direction you’re pointing it. You can also point your gun to select NPCs and containers, as well as pick up and move objects. You can also use gestures to open the Pip-Boy, ESC Menu, and select hotkeys. Movement is controller centric rather than HMD centric. Overall, it makes for a more engaging and entertaining New Vegas VR experience.
If I run Elder Scrolls Online with vorpx it gets as far as “next up” in steamvr then the headset goes black (before any splash screens) and it stays off after shutting down ESO. I have to reset steamvr to get the headset working again. I loaded the cloud profile with <vorpx>. Fallout 4 and Oblivion work fine. Since the headset is blank I can’t bring up the DEL console to change anything or do any scans. I can’t even be sure it’s hooking. Game is running in window. I’ve seen the old problem on the forums where it blanked after splash screens. This is not it, and without the DEL console I can’t switch it off just for the splashes.
Of course if you want to use a very high resolution in VR with G3D, you also need a good enough graphic card. I suppose Titanfall 2 isn’t very demanding, but I don’t know.
I don’t know. I don’t have this game anymore, I didn’t try it with VorpX, and I didn’t use DirectVR a lot, but Ralf probably know (and maybe it’s written somewhere).
Do you have the resolution you want ingame ? It must be a very high 4:3 one.
First of all, adjust zoom level and use ClarityFX and sharpness if needed. You can try to adjust FOV (not only resolution).
If I encounter a problem I can’t solve, I usually disable auto settings (checkbox “Don’t Optimize Game Settings”), and choose the resolution and FOV myself (most of the time I have to do it anyway because I play games without DirectVR, and most of the time it doesn’t take long because it’s almost always the same values). But ralf proved me recently it may break other things to disable auto settings with this kind of advanced profiles. You can always try if nothing works. Set a FOV around 112 and the resolution as you would if you weren’t using VorpX (in game options, cfg/ini files, etc.)
When it works, you’ll probably be able to identify what was the problem, and re-enable auto settings if you need to.
PS :
changing Titanfall 2 FOV manually seems to not be very easy, but it seems to be doable.
Please don‘t advise newcomers to disable automatic settings. Maybe you have a reason to do so, whatever that may be, but that breaks essentially everything that makes advanced DirectVR profiles like the Fallout 4 profile great. It may even break profiles entirely if the automatically set options are required to make 3D work for example. So at the very least please never give this advice without calling it a last resort that breaks almost all good stuff an advanced profile may come with. Thanks!
@ Woobisan:
FOV should be set correctly automatically after running the DirectVR scan. if that fails for some reason, 110, or to be totally precise 112, would indeed be the right value here.
Weapons are supposed to be moved out of sight unless you use them, which may only work correctly with FOV being set to the right value. You can disable this feature on the DirectVR page of the menu, but before you do that, please first try with the correct FOV. It’s actually a really awesome feature unless you like running around with a gun glued to your face all the time. :)
I didn’t try Fallout 4, but :
– you may have to adjust Zoom in Full VR settings (unzoom).
– there is a tab “Restore Game settings” in config app if you need it.
– there is also a checkbox “Don’t optimize game settings” if you want to configure manually. In this case, 90 FOV isn’t enough. I usually set it to 105-120 horizontal on my Reverb G2 with a very high 4:3 resolution like 3840×2880 (it depends on your VR headset of course). You could try 110.
90 FOV can be a lot in games which use vertical FOV but I think Fallout 4 FOV is horizontal.
VorpX V24 allow you to use any resolution you want with virtual monitor (launch VorpX Desktop Viewer instead of VorpX, and adjust desktop resolution if needed).
Im new to vorpx, i just got it yesterday and i really like it. So here is my issues The HUD, weapons and arms/hand are not showing up. It was fine until i did a scan and now they are gone. Dont know if it is a profile thing or not, i also in Fallout 4 adjuested my FOV to 90 thinking i have to fix the FOV because of this. If anyone can help please let me know.
This is still an issue. Here’s what i’ve tried so far. I’ve tried using the hook helper, i’ve tried using admin rights, i’ve tried using alternative hook, i’ve disabled anti virus, i’ve disabled every imaginable overlay from steam, EA, Nvidia GeForce and AWCC, i’ve tried running the game vanilla with no mods, I tried SFC /scannow, I tried reinstalling Vorpx and the sims, i’ve tried with only one monitor, i’ve tried turning off discord, i’ve tried even looking in event logger and I cannot figure out why it doesn’t work. And it’s not just The Sims 4. It doesn’t hook to Saints Row 3, Titanfall nor the sims. The only thing that works is the desktop viewer but it doesn’t attach to any games.
And no i’m not running it on a potato. I’m running this on a windows 11, Alienware R16, Aurora 4090. I refuse to believe this kind of performance is acceptable for this hardware.
Both Titanfall 2 and Mirror’s Edge should work from the EA app. You could try to disable the EA ingame menu, although that shouldn’t be necessary.
Resolution isn’t really an issue. Super easily addressable for literally every game out there.
For fully featured DirectVR profiles vorpX has game specific code that lets you set the resolution in the vorpX menu in various steps. If that’s the case vorpX displays an according hint in the top/left corner of the game window and in the headset.
If not, you can always adjust the resolution in the game options yourself, just like you would do when playing on your monitor.
Also make sure to read the ‘Custom Resolutions’ section in the vorpX help. It explains how to add resolutions to your PC that your monoitor can’t display. Alternativly you can use the new virtual monitor in vorpX 24.1.0, which comes with all important resolutions predefined and thus saves you the somewhat tedious process of setting up custom resolutions.
Thabks for your answer, Ralf. I really dont know what happened here.
After Titanfall 2 and Mirror edge, I tried Fallout 3 (wooooow!!! It worked!!!), Deus ex human revolution (bad;psvr 1 like resoulution and distúrbing tiny hands) and Dishobored 1 (good visuals but had to use direct scan sometimes during gameplay because it messes up in game) and all of them hooked first time maybe just changing in hook helpers.
Maybe these games didnt had any issues because were started in Steam, while Mirror and Titan needed Ea play to start? But why then Mass effect original 1 worked with ea play on (and then stopped working) and The Witcher 1 Steam wont start? Well ots a bit frustating but I cant be happier playing these games in VR and very afraid that Rdr2 and Cyberpunk maybe wont hook too if I try. Im very happy with your work and that you still want to improve in future releases.
If you experience issues like that regularly with multiple games that are usually known to work well like e.g. Titanfall 2 and Mirror’s Edge, there almost certainly is something getting in the way that also hooks into games. (Double and triple) check what tools/utilities you may have running in the background. If in doubt, exit it. No matter how unlikely you consider it to potentially cause such an issue.
Also make sure to try installing hook helpers when the ‘Attaching To …’ dialog shows that option after a minute or so. Installing a hook helper to the game folder can often resolve hooking conflicts without having to find the offending app/tool.
Also be aware that some GamePass games may be compiled as UWP (Universal Windows Platform) apps, which run in a sandbox and can’t be hooked. Extremely unlikely though that Titanfall 2 and Mirror’s Edge have been recompiled as UWP apps for GamePass.
I never tried Titanfall 2 with VorpX but I know it works very well from others.
Maybe try to launch it without VorpX, and set it on DirectX11 or DirectX9 (VorpX doesn’t like DX10 and DX12 because it can’t render G3D, so sometimes official profiles only works with DX9 or DX11).
Did you try the hook helper, and alternate hooking ?
Some unofficial profiles requires to create a direct shortcut instead of launching VorpX (right click on VorpX in taskbar > create shortcut).
Sometimes you just have to wait and it works again (auto-update I presume), or use another version of VorpX (but I never had to and I tried a lot of games).
Hi! These games start the loading screen but wont attach and wont start, just load the title of the game, says its attaching and turn off without showijg ay message or open the vorpx hook helper menu. Titanfall 2 from game pass wich starts with the Ea play app, and Witcher 1 with steam.
With Titanfall I tried the Windows 8 compatibility mode and excluding ea apps in the vorpx menu too, like I saw in some forums here.
Played Psychonauts on Steam and it entered just changing the hook helper, and New Vegas with tweaks, both of them started without ahy problem and I did the seme steps fot those other games.
Trying tô play with Quest 3.
Anyone can help with these issues? New Vegas still works after I tried thoso two. Thabks!
The direct 3d seems to be the problem. It was making the game auto zoom in and out from like 30 to 30 seconds out of the proportions and thus maybe naking the hardware work more and freeze the game too.
Had to turn it off, put in game Vorpx settings zoom to 120 because by default there was a black bar below in the headset and go to ini settings ans put 120 fov like you suggested and I was lucky to find this easy step by step guide for dummies like me to change FOV since I would spend 1 week learning mods and not playing
Im using Quest 3 and found other people talking about black bar too with it and Vorpx. Now I can finally start the game again and after that, Fallout 3 too, and I hope that what I learned here from you and experience from using Vorpx carries over to this game and others.
Started NV flat laat year, but then I bought a pc, quest 3 and now I cant go back to flat gaming anymore.
Have a great week, good game!
