I had attempted to purchase this late in the evening on the 2nd, and when I didn’t get the email that night I had assumed it was just because it was the weekend and late, but now it is a few days later and I have not received a download link or purchase confirmation email and my bank is still saying the funds are on hold. Have I done something wrong somewhere, or is it just taking longer than usual for some reason?

My Xbox controller behaves strange in some games. It works fine in dishonored with vorpx set to gamepad or m/kB, zero issues in that game.

But the next game I tried was the long dark. The gamepad works but I’m running at what seems double the speed the game allows. The game isn’t running too fast like was an issue with older games, it’s just the inputs seemingly triggering this.

I thought as a workaround I’d try m/kB in vorpx but same issue. Not many games have it but in-game you can disable gamepad support in the long dark. I disabled gamepad support and thought I’d use microx to bind gamepad inputs to kbm. This worked fine flatscreen but the issues I had still persisted in vorpx. I tried as gamepad, kbm and even turning controls off in vorpx but that didn’t work.

I then realized even if I have gamepad off in vorpx it still seems the gamepad. What I mean is you can’t seem to truly disable gamepad support.

I then tried hidhide (a utility to hide devices from apps) but to my surprise vorpx still saw the controller.

I gave up and then tried amnesia the bunker. This too had input issues. It would always run even though in-game run is normally a run button and ever input seems to be inputting twice. For ex is press a button to pull out my gun and the play would draw the weapon but immediately put it away.

I’m usually pretty good at working around quirks but I can’t resolve this.

I also tried gamepad override, partial and off, no difference.

If there’s a way to resolve this great, but I would also like a feature to truly disable gamepad support as in vorpx doesn’t see it at all and I would do keyboard mapping. Ideally things would work in-game, but if vorpx had this ability I could have probably worked around it myself.

Another issue with using a gamepad is the menu binds. Binding these to joystick clicks is game breaking for some games as they need it for click run etc. I would think the solution is to use long press for the vorpx menus and a normal click would behave properly in game.

Also I wish we could do custom bindings. For ex, dishonored as I mentioned works great, but each time you die the fov resets. At first I was doing a direct VR scan each time, but then I realized just a quick fov fix by pressing F8.

Great but I don’t want to go in the menus each death to trigger this. Im no where near my keyboard when I play VR. Being reliant on needing to be near my keyboard is a dealbreaker for me. So I’ll probably use some binding utility to bind f8 to an input, but it would be great if we could do that in vorpx

I might as well mention it here instead of starting another thread but Batman Arkham city, another game that works fine with my gamepad, but I like to play in VR. However in VR mode the right stick up down does not change the camera angle only left right rotation works. I thought for this profile it was defaulting to lock the y axis on right controller but I went in the menu and saw it was already off. If I switch the game to cinema mode the right joystick behaves as expected but not in VR mode.

Sorry for the long post, I haven’t tried vorpx in years but trying it again now I’m liking what I see in a few of the games I tried but the gamepad issues are a problem.

I hope there are workarounds for this but just for flexibility sake I do wish there was a way to truly block vorpx from seeing my gamepad, and then I could have worked around it, obviously ideally it would work properly as a gamepad in game.

    Thanks!

Safe to say that vorpX has grown into something truly unique over the years. Probably hard to fathom the sheer scope and complexity without some basic understanding of 3D/VR programming. That’s the nature of the beast, I guess. Makes it even nicer to get feedback like yours every now and then. :)

Ralf I bought your software a good while back and I got the quest 2 and 3 so.. Been programming my own crap for quite a while too. I want to commend you on your work. I’ve seen people tear down your work or comment very poorly, sadly they are people that don’t understand how this work and the actual insanity of it what you have wrote, the complexity of it must be wild. I’ve got nothing near what you have accomplished but have read enough to know and have tried enough to know what you have done. Props.

There should be no need to tinker with anything FOV related. FOV, including weapon FOV is handled perfectly by DirectVR. Just run the menory scan.

You may have to raise the ‘Headtracking Sensitivity’ value in the menu. If it still doesn’t work afterwards, on your machine something is wrong that isn’t covered by the fix for the issue. Potentially some weird Windows access rights issue that might e.g. be caused by running Windows with separate admin/day-to-day accounts.

Yes, the overheating caused a restart loop which caused the C drive to become corrupted, so I bought a new one – reinstalled Windows with my user license – and began the arduous task of setting things back they way they were. Because I wanted nothing to do with META I had been ‘unplugging’ the internet from the back of the PC when using VR so I didn’t have to deal with their crap at META after they bought Oculus. Heck – my Rift is so old they didn’t make hand controllers yet . . .

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m a bit confused as I did all this on the ‘current’ PC with the new drive/installation.

Perhaps this is something you need to do in house so I’ll just pretend I’m starting new again like I did a few days back.

Obviously, I couldn’t do anything. The previous installed Vorpx had not caused any problems.

I uninstalled whatever files remained for now.

I’ll wait for an official response here before I try anything else.

I think I need to clarify the bug i’m experiencing.
I think the game needs to be launched in Directx9 version to work in vorpx. I suspect that’s what the “legacy” version is. You can enable DirectX9 from within the games settings. Restarting and running the game again launches it in directX9. Vorpx Will attach to it now but one of two things will happen.
1, there will be no option what-so-ever for 3D reconstruction or 2, you will have two Z options but both of them output visual corruption and neither correctly display anything.

previously enabling DirectX9 is what made it work for me back in November of last year. That no longer seems to be the case. Unless i’m horribly mistaken here, it seems to me that Vorpx is just no longer compatible with the Sims 4.

Is that the case? Can anyone else confirm? Or is there some secret .exe for the sims legacy edition i’m just not aware of.

Quest 2 control issues. The vr itself has been working great, but I can’t figure out some of the controls. The 2 biggest ones right now is that in order to enter hack mode I have to press left shift ie left grab, but to actually hack anything I have to press x which disappears when I press shift. Also, I can’t figure out how to select different dialogue options, is there an easy list or something of controls? Also I got the download on the free version so I don’t think it came with any profiles that might fix this thanks.

Hello! With the official profile the game hooks but it starts and stays flat. I can go to in-game Vorpx menu and change a lot of things normally, but the 3D option is unavailable to change and is turned off. Is there some game version that I should use or some configuration prior to using the profile? Thanks!

“when you are seated for example”
I’m speaking about your character in the game, not “you” of course (like in the boat at the beginning). I think full VR always provides a more realistic optical point of view (perfect 3D & immersion requires you to share your eyes with the character, with the exact field of view and distortions he would have), but what I mean is : if you turn your head too far while you are in immersive screen mode, the view/world stop moving with you if you’re character can’t turn his head further so it’s more “realistic” (despite the black border) and you should feel less motion sickness.

I really like this feature in some cases (and the fact VorpX don’t let you see things your character can’t see, but it still feels natural).

Concerning Bioshock Infinite, I played it a few years ago on Reverb G2 and I did something else. It probably works with Quest 3.

I don’t say my guide is better, but it was great on G2. It was my first game with VorpX but I think this method is quite simple and reliable.

It’s really easy to get a great result with this game because you don’t even need the virtual Monitor since you can choose any resolution you want, so you should be able to play this game with any VR headset, and even use it to calibrate the best way to configure VorpX to play another game.

There was a DirectVR scan option to autoconfigure the last time I tried (V21) but if you want to configure manually, as I did, I would recommand to :
adjust the FOV in the .ini files (I used MaxUserFOVOffsetPercent=110 in XUserOptions.ini, but you can probably use a bit more on Quest 3).
    – use a very high 4:3 resolution like 3840×2880 (if you can but it shouldn’t be a problem with most PC). You can probably use even higher resolution if you want but this isn’t a very detailed game so 2880p is probably good enough in most cases.

Don’t use the FOV slider in game (at least if you play in full VR), because it’s limited and you probably would have to change the FOV again with the files.

Concerning resolution, you can either :
    – use the Virtual Monitor with VorpX v23, V24 or V25 to avoid any problem (launch VorpX desktop Viewer instead of VorpX allow you to really play games with the desired resolution, even in fullscreen mode).
or you can simply play Windowed, so you can choose any resolution you want, but you’ll have to navigate in the main menu with keyboard instead of mouse.

Don’t forget to adjust Gamma in VorpX, and to use options to enhance image quality (ClarityFX, Sharpness, Texture enhancements in VorpX ingame menu page 2).

I didn’t try to modify the “G3D shadow” parameter on this game (it was my first game with VorpX) but usually it’s better on “auto” (you can try to change it if you experience differences between Z3D and G3D).

I think I had to replace .ini files every time I launched the game (simply reextract an archive you created once).
I may have checked “Don’t Optimize Game settings” but it’s probably not recommanded if you want to auto-configure (it didn’t seem to be a problem if you configure manually but I don’t really know – once again, it was my first game with VorpX a few years ago). This kind of games probably have a lot of automated features, especially if you want to play in 6dof. My method worked well enough to play seated.

But you can probably just load a level and use the DirectVR scan button every time. With my method, changes are permanent and you never have to change anything (except It’s sometimes great to play in immersive screen mode too).

With this method, the game shouldn’t be pixellated at all (at least on G2, because there is no compression), and you shouldn’t have distortions or other problems. It works very well and it’s quite impressive in VR.

You can (and probably should) change font size in the file XUI.ini. Modify value of MaxResolutionUpScale :
    https://steamcommunity.com/app/8870/discussions/0/828934723974503663/

    I used MaxResolutionUpScale=9.0

Bioshock 1 and especially Bioshock 2 with VorpX are even more beautiful in my opinion :

    Bioshock 2 (Fixed crash)

Mouselook still doesn’t work for me in the Desktop Viewer. Am I doing something incorrectly?
