Your issues sound as if you are using Virtual Desktop together with vorpX. Don’t. Really, just don’t!

Exit the VD Streamer on your PC. Set your headset type to ‘Meta Quest Link’ in the vorpX config app and enjoy vorpX like intended. Will feel like upgrading a 10 year old PC to something recent. Prefer wired Link for the best exprience. VD might work well in other cases, but with vorpX it produces performance issues, micro stutter and lag/latency even on fast WiFi that are beyond bad.

Is the game running at the same resolution in both cases?

I’m asking because a recent Windows 11 update seems to have broken vorpX’s fast capture method for (rare) 64-bit DX9 games (only Outlast and Crysis as far as supported games are concerned). At high resolutions that leads to a severe FPS drop. Might be the actual cause of your problem if you run the game with higher resolutions on the virtual monitor than on your actual monitor.

Unless MS changed something fundamental, I should be able to address that for the next maintenance update.

Maybe it’s something related to VorpX Virtual Monitor feature enabled

My biggest problem with that is it completely deactivates my keyboard and gamepad. I’m not sure if there’s something I’m doing wrong, but even if I try to click on the window looking at my computer monitor rather than looking at the VR, keyboard presses don’t do anything. And it says RT or right trigger to cycle through the tabs and none of the buttons on my vr, gamepad, or keyboard actually cycle through anything. Then I tried desktop viewer last night and I got desktop viewer to do the full VR mode that I wanted and was excited I might have figured it out but it completely disabled my desktop monitor and I wasn’t able to use task manager to shut anything down nor was able to use the Windows key to shut anything down so I had to physically shut my computer down to exit desktop viewer. Again, it could just be something I’m doing wrong, but I might just have to wait until the next update to see if it’ll work then. Because aside from being able to press delete to get the menu to pop up, I can’t use Edge peak, and I can’t use any other device to bring up the menu. I do appreciate all of the assistance with this, and thank you guys for telling me that is the new home room and is the default place I will be going from now on.

I’m no longer getting the open XR instance creation failed message anymore but vorpx still doesn’t seem to want to hook into the game. And I don’t know if the home screen you’re talking about has recently become the default, but I’ve never had to go to that space before. The game always started up with just a blurred background and I can’t get that to happen anymore. And with the home screen, the game is not the center screen it’s a very small screen off to the left. The center screen which is fairly large is just a man with a VR with a question mark. I only use one VR controller to click on things and I don’t really have the ability to use both VR controllers. When the game starts with that screen I can press delete on the keyboard and the menu will pop up, but none of my buttons will work for the game and I can’t even get off of the start screen from the game because the controller and the keyboard become inactive as soon as I enter that space. I really only use vorpx as an aiming assistance for things like Call of Duty and so mostly I just need the head tracking capability. But when I enter that gridded room there doesn’t seem to be any sort of head tracking. I don’t even know how to get that big gray box with the man in the VR to go away and how to get the game to Center.

I used to be able to play Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 in full VR mode using a meta Quest 2, virtual desktop, and running it as open XR. Now for whatever reason anytime I try to run a game it says open XR creation instance failed. So I’ve tried other methods like steamvr or running the meta Quest link runtime and what that does is brings me into a space like when loading into steamvr. Then it shows a man with a VR headset on and a question mark and the game window is very small on the bottom left. I’ve tried disabling a bunch of different overlays, turning off and on Hags, checking antivirus and everything. I’ve been having this issue for about a month or two now. But I had vorpex for almost a year prior to this issue and was able to play all of my games with no problems. If I could get any insight as to what’s causing this or what I’m doing wrong I would appreciate it!

What’s the best way to optimize my game for pc build? What settings should I tweak? Also, does the licensed vorpx inject the cyberpunk 2077 from the free version of the mod? I’m just trying to make sure I’m running the latest version from vorpx. I’m up to date. I updated CET and I can get in and run the vr. I’d like to fix the black bars that I see around my screen, do i need dial up my screen resolution in game? It’s also very choppy when I play so I know i have to tweak some things back in my settings. Does Vorpx allow dlss or no? Thank you for any assistance that you can provide me.

    Hi!

I am running the original Pimax Crystal headset and I’ve noticed that only the PimaxPlay version 1.40.1 or earlier works like it should with Vorpx. I tried the latest update, nothing shows up on the HMD, no Virtual Desktop, no game, just the Pimax star background image, so I rolled back to 1.40.1 (you can find the installer for 1.40.1 if you google it).

Hello dear Ralf and VorpX Team.
I have a core issue with vorpx:
virtual monitor is not enabled by default when i put on headset and i cannot enable it manually. Just nothing happens. That means desktop viewer is not working also.
I was able to see virtual monitor only once after installation of fresh Vorpx. (i did try 24 and 25 latest versions). After fresh installation the screen was flickering, but i was able to see extra monitor in steam VR, so i successfully turn off my real screen. After reboot, however, no virtual monitor and i cannot enable it. (when i click on button enable virtual monitor – nothing happens).

I have next specs: RTX4080, Pimax Crystal Light, Samsung Odyssey G8 (120Hz mode, 10bit, HDR on), latest Nvidia drivers, Windows 11 Pro, no AV installed.
Can you please help to troubleshoot issue? Can it be Nvidia drivers or settings? (i also sent troubleshooting info from vorpx to your support email)

    Hi!

Any info on why the 2013 Tomb Raider doesn’t work? I am running the GOTY edition from Epic Games, tried with the Epic launcher, tried straight through the .exe file (with and without the -nolauncher command line), nothing. If Vorpx is running the game doesn’t start at all, if I close Vorpx, then it works just fine. Can’t figure this one out, maybe the Epic GOTY version is some new updated version that breaks something???

EDIT : Rise of the Tomb Raider works just fine and looks great, so go figure, had the idea to play through the trilogy, but now I am doing the ROTTR coz can’t get the first one to work.

The reason for wanting custom resolutions for the virtual monitor is, that you cannot always configure the resolution through the games .ini \ .cfg files or whatever, so you are left with what ever resolution you can create through the Vorpx configuration tool. Sometimes with different games I need strange resolutions like 3000×2880 or something like that to have the best image. Sometimes 4:3 or 1:1 resolutions introduce warping or something like that to the perspective, sometimes the image is too zoomed in (and if one cannot configure the FOV, fiddling with the resolution is the only way) and sometimes you get other problems (black bars on top and bottom of the image with 1:1 resolution, 4:3 is too zoomed in and the perspective does the warping thingy). My problem is mostly that I can create some strange resolutions through Nvidia Control Panel, but probably because of my monitor (and I’d rather use the virtual desktop and virtual monitor always anyway) I can’t go higher that certain resolution (the aforementioned 3000×2880). So, I think there are good uses for this functionality, maybe it is just me with my Pimax setup, but I tend to need those finely tuned resolutions from time to time depending on the game I am trying to run through Vorpx.

Not tried, but if it can process side-by-side 3D (SBS3D), which is quite likely, then yes.

BTW: I changed your display name since you probably didn’t intend your mail address to be displayed. You can change it to something else by clicking ‘Edit Profile’ in the user menu above if you want.

Nothing really, except that something like KAT VR is probably the perfect platform for playing with gesture controls, so don’t skip the gesture tutorial on launch. And graphics settings wise depending on your PC aim for a high resolution over raytracing.

Something else must be going on, vorpX deosn’t load any shaders except for its own. Maybe you have some other app running that also hooks into DirectX. Either way: happy testing!
