In reply to: Various games crashing after about 30-60 minutes
nixxonParticipantI didn’t test this solutoin with the vorpX version I had while opening this topic. However, I had another/similar behavior with the newer version 17.2.0: After a while of playing one screen/lense starts flickering. This lasts a view seconds before both screens turn to black, even though the game seems to be running just fine on my regular display.
Anyway, the solution suggested by forlaunchcast helped me to avoid this issue from occuring again. Thanks for that!
Though I would be glad if that would get improved even more with a upcomming version.

RalfKeymasterThis issue is caused by a misconfiguration of your webserver’s DNS records. Our e-mail provider is quite strict about that. To avoid further issues you should make sure that the DNS records mentioned in the error message are correct and standard conform.
The key has been sent to your G-Mail address in the meantime. Let me know if it didn’t reach you.

RalfKeymasterPlease make sure that BOTH LINES look EXACTLY AS SHOWN IN THE KEY E-MAIL.
The name field has to contain your name followed by the mail address in parantheses like in the e-mail.
Use COPY AND PASTE to avoid typos.
The EXAMPLE IMAGE attached to the mail shows how it should look.
If that does not solve your issue, please send a screenshot of the dialog after you pasted in the data to support |at| vorpx com.

nixxonParticipantI’ve just found out that turning off “direct mode asynchron renders” seems to avoid the crash (or increased the time till the same). However, if I disable that setting, the whole VR environment is quaking slightly while moving my head. The game runs great though (no lags and “enough” FPS).
By the way: I shouldn’t have saying that the “game” is crashing in my previous post. Only the VR environment crashes. The game runs just fine on my screen after that crash.
Still looking forward to a solution.

in forum Technical Support
nixxonParticipantHi,
Each game I’ve tried so far crashes after about 30-60 minutes playtime (e.g. Diablo 3). Shortly before those crashes the VR world begins to … “flashing” (My steam VR background fades in and out quickly). This starts very gentle and gets worse within next 1-2 minutes. In the end the VR world crashes (black screen), but the games still runs fine (on my monitor).
Regular Steam VR games and Steam’s cinema mode running just fine. I already tried to lower game settings while using vorpx and set vorpx’s ingame settings to “low” (no 3D emulation, black background, etc.). It didn’t even increase the playtime before it crashes.
Before asking: Yes, I went through the FAQ already (I’ve disabled antivirus, checked further programs, avoided game mods/injections and no nvidia 3D-ish configs activated).
So, does someone have a hint on how I can solve this annoying behaviour?
Thank you in advance.

RalfKeymasterAll three keys are valid. Please make sure that both the name and the key field look EXACTLY like in the key e-mail. The attached example image shows how it should look. Use copy and paste to avoid typos.

sendrrParticipantI didn’t mention …
There was a problem with downloading the file with web installer
because the download link is still in black list of the Kaspersky Internet SecurityI had to open the WebSetup on Linux (my sandbox) with Wine and then I copied the downloaded file to my PC and then everything was fine
so guys … add the vorpx.com website to trusted websites to avoid situations like this
“If” there is a virus your AV software will catch it after it has been downloaded anyway, so don’t worry, add the vorpx.com website to trusted websitesAndrey

RalfKeymasterIf you stick to feature suggestions and similar things, all is perfectly fine and I’m more than willing to answer them as detailed as ever, other things please just accept as being decided for reasons that you do not know.
A product support forum is a product support forum. If forum interaction becomes too personal in a demanding way, something has to be done eventually, which I would very, very gladly avoid as I absolutely like things how they are right now. Your post above was just one too many in recent weeks, don’t take it personally.

RalfKeymasterThe gamepad override should be turned off automatically in case of a successful scan. Could you please report back here if that is not working for you? As soon as the scan succeeds, your gamepad should work natively. Probably would make sense to indicate that in the vorpX ingame menu to avoid potential confusion.
Currently the menu setting would still show “Full”, but it is supposed to be overruled after a successful scan since the override isn’t necessary anymore then. This setting is best left alone for the most part. If the override is set, there usually is a reason for that, e.g. the game not allowing mouse and gamepad to be used together.

RalfKeymasterNo double posts with the same issue please to avoid forum clutter, thanks. I deleted your other thread with the same issue.
Never heard of this issue before, but you can easily work around it by setting a resolution in your SkyrimPrefs.ini instead of using the internal upscaling, which has the same effect in the end.
1. Go to [Documents]\My Games\Skyrim\
2. Open SkyrimPrefs.ini with a text editor
3. Set bFull Screen=0
4. Change iSize W and iSize H to the desired resolutionRecommended resolutions are 1280×1024 for performance, 1600×1200 or 1920×1440 for quality.
If you are unfamilar with editing .ini files, please make a backup before you edit the .ini.

RalfKeymaster@ Marco: try to disable FluidSync. Among other things it caps the frame rate to 45 for the sake of a more consistent frame rate, then one “timewarped” frame is inserted between two real frames. Since this often looks smoother than a fluctuating frame rate between for example 50 and 80, I would suggest to leave it on unless you can reach consistent 90fps in a game. Nothing speaks against experimenting, of course.
A resolution selection for the Game Optimizer is planned for so long that I can’t even remember when I put it on the list… This comes with a couple of potential pitfalls as one wants to avoid that users can set a res that can’t be displayed on their machines, so it’s a bit less straight forward than one may think, but hopefully there will be time for it for the next update.

MarcoParticipantThe small black bars on Vive are on purpose for the sake of a better image quality (higher pixel density). It’s dialed in to provide the same vertical FOV as Rift.
If you prefer the full vertical FOV of your Vive over the higher pixel density, you can easily achieve that by setting the Image Zoom slider in the vorpX ingame menu (image page) to the rightmost position. That will exactly fill the screen vertically on your Vive.
If rotating your head feels slightly off-center, re-center the head tracking, either in the vorpX menu or with Alt+Space, which will solve this.
I’m using 1920×1440 res and i think the new picture format fits the VIVE screen much better. I may be wrong but i think that avoids having big bars on the side instead, with better overall proportions. I didn’t know what this was but i immediately noticed a difference for the better. Thanks for that.
Jan 12, 2017 at 2:29pm #124783In reply to: Sugg: Use Vive wand/Rift touch as mouse pointer
OvoParticipantMy idea was to only activate it when pressing some button like a grip, or even on trackpad touch, which I thought would avoid unwanted movements. Is it what you tested?
> you aren’t able to fake sword swings or wielding a gun anymore
Hm, ok, I don’t do that, but controller movement could be on the secondary hand, letting you fake wielding with your main one; movement is set on the left hand in most games anyway. While for menu navigation there could be a (stand-alone) mouse pointer mode for the main hand, auto activated when in edge peek mode?Jan 9, 2017 at 7:04pm #124682In reply to: I need a response to a second activation "problem"
RalfKeymasterTo avoid delays, please follow the instructions in license dialog and send an e-mail to the mail address mentioned in the dialog.
Do not use the contact form for key requests under normal circumstances!
Contact form messages have to be processed manually and over a weekend or if much is going on general it can take a while to get an answer.
You can avoid that by following the instructions in the license dialog.
Jan 7, 2017 at 12:21pm #124481In reply to: How many days I can have my download link
RalfKeymasterNothing to fear about: you can get a new link at any time: https://www.vorpx.com/request-new-download/
More importantly: we tried to send you e-mails multiple times, unfortunately our e-mail provider refuses to receive mails from and send mails to your e-mail server. All mails sent to you are bounced, and none can be received.
The error message when sending mails is: “Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=cybernet-so.com.tw type=AAAA: Host not found”. This is likely caused by a non standard conform DNS configuration of your e-mail server.
Please use the contact form in the support menu above to resend your key request since we did not receive the one you sent before. I will try to send you the key from a different server then, in the hope that may work, although that is not certain at all.
If possible please tell us another e-mail adress (ideally from a huge mail provider like Gmail, not some self-hosted mail address) to avoid such problems altogether in the future.
