Pretty odd issue. I assume you are the one who wrote a mail about that a fews days ago? I’m still not sure what causes this issue, the crash on start occurs in the nVidia driver and it happens even with older vorpX versions that worked perfectly fine before with the Trine games, so ATM I’m a bit at a loss regarding this issue.
No promises, but I’ll take a closer look shortly. Fingers crossed that I can find a workaround, but since it also happens with older versions that worked before I might end up having to remove the games from the officially supported games list.
Edit: Found a way to work around the nVidia driver start crash. Something must have changed in recent nVidia drivers that triggered this issue since it occurs even with ages old vorpX versions that worked perfectly fine before. Anyway, the workaround will be included in the next vorpX.
I’m having a few problems with the Trine games. All three of these games cause an error on startup. I can tab over to the error window and close the error for Trine 1 & 2 to start. The game will then play for a few minutes but ultimately crashes. If I manually save every time the mid level checkpoints occur, I can put off the crash for longer, but it still inevitably happens. Trine 3 will post the error on startup, but if I can get into the game there aren’t any crashes. The problem here is that if the error appears on or after the title screen, then tabbing over and closing the error crashes the game. If it appears prior to the title screen, I can close it and play in Trine 3 without issue. I’m unsure if the problems are related, but I have played other games without issue. I have all of these games through steam, and have disabled all overlays, and followed the advise in the Basic Troubleshooting thread as well- the errors and crashing persist. Any help is appreciated. Thank you –
Dark Matter (G3D)
Another game thats been published as “2.5D” but turns out to be a nice sidescroller like Trine in 3D.
– Use same resolution for monitor and game
– Optimized for cinema modes
– Full Vr Mode not recommended
– Profile available at the cloud

Ralph, I ran the Vorpx Web Setup manually and installed and I can’t thank you enough for your quick fix…now both grip buttons engage at about 95% but not requiring the exact 100% (or felt like 100-101% before) which is absolutely perfect! You are definitely one of my personal saviors and for many of us VR enthusiasts allowing us to play many favorite games in 3D cinema like Sonic Racing and Trine and Inside and Unravel, you are doing God’s work making us happier than we would have otherwise been without you! As a token of my gratitude for *your* talents, I share with you some of mine tinyurl.com/Victories-for-Jacob like everything else take what you find beneficial, ignore whatever isn’t. Looking forward to the eventual Swap B and Y OFF working after your restful weekend.
Why is it I’ve added the Trine Launcher to the exception list and VorpX is continuing to bring up the error message “unable to hook into Trine Launcher”.
Black The Fall (G3D)
Kind of a SciFi Trine like Sidescroller, nice 3D.
– Optimized for Cinema Modes
– Dont turn OFF certain Shadows, some are required for proper gameplay
– For higher resolutions eg. 3200×1800 monitor and game setting must match
– Profile available at the cloud

Shadow Puppeteer (G3D)
Cute toon like Jump n Run game, reminding on Trine somehow.
– Keep shadows = OFF
– Optimized for Cinema Modes
– Profile available at the cloud

You can safely ignore this message. Steam normally launches non-VR games in a (rather crude and slow) 2D theater if a VR headset is present. That’s what this message is about. vorpX diables the Steam theater though. In addition to that you can disable the VR theater either globally in the Steam options or per game on the game properties page. Shouldn’t be necessary though.
Trine 2 and Darksiders both are DX9, FO4 is DX11, so maybe you have some background program that interferes with DX11.
Just in case: I probably won’t reply to further posts anymore today (Saturday, 10PM). Will check back tomorrow.
Under normal circumstances the game should just hook fine by launching it from Steam. Not much else I can suggest anyway.
Thanks Ralf,
This is a bit weird. Ive tried one or two other games like Trine2 and Darksiders and they both hook right away. No matter which way i start them they always hook. ( either through the steam client or directly ).
Perhaps i am doing something wrong because i am new to steam.
(steamVR is already running befor i start a game, but is deosnt seem to make a difference if not)
One thing ive notice is that when starting a game through the steam client i get that grey box saying “this game doesnt support vr and will be displayed on desktop” (is that supposed to happen ?).
When starting the two other games directly the message does not appear, but when starting fallout 4 directly the message comes up too. The VorpX window “Attaching” is in the background but nothing happens. Perhaps another windoes 7 issue ? Ill keep trying out though. :-/
Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone (G3D)
Hack n slay, RPG reminding somehow on “Trine” with its 3 Characters. Game is a bit hard to control because of lacking in playfield overview during fights but looking quite nice in VR.
– Optimized for Cinema Modes
– Profile available at the cloud

Tell us what games made you go insane with the VIVE PRO.
Ill start with TRINE. The game already looks so good with the Vive 1. Unbelievable how that game looks with the Pro. You want to pick the ferns off the ground and eat them
I am playing Trine at the moment, Ralf: Very nicely adjusted profile !
but there was a small issue,
Ive installed Trine from a german magazine DVD. The exe name is Trine.exe but the profiles exe is trine1_32bit.exe. Perhaps adding “trine.exe” to the official profile too would make sense ?

Tough to choose five, but I guess my favorites are:
– Fallout 3
– Enderal (Skyrim total conversion)
– Kingdom Come Deliverance
– Bioshock Infinite
– Thief (the remake from a few years ago)
Honorary mentions for Ori and the Blind Forest and Trine in cinema mode. So much better than on a monitor.
If you turn off your lighthouses your Vive will not work.
That connection is needed for head tracking and the Vive requires at least one to be on. Your controllers, if not in use, will auto power off.
By the way, Mass Effect looks great on a virtual cinema screen in 3d.
Often some of the best Vorpx experiences are with such a screen.
Trine and other similar platformers are great while seated.
I tried Ori definitive edition…but I prefer Trine 2 much more…both gameplay needs more skill and graphics are much, much better and more colorful. If you like Ori, you’re bound to love Trine 2. It does give an error initially with Vorpx, but you just alt-tab to the error window (on your real monitor), press enter, then use mouse to select the T2 icon on your taskbar to continue.
