Same thoughts I had when running Trine 2 in Immersive mode for the first time. I will give Ori a try also. Inside also works but that is a minimalist graphical game, still better in 3D mode though. I would also like Rochard and Bionic Commando Rearmed to work they are also 3D backgrounds but sideways-movements platformers.
I think it’s called immersive, but not the Full VR immersive mode.
It is jaw dropping…I look forward to using the Pimax 8K for even better clarity and much less SDE.
Also with Trine use 2560x1440p or at least 1920×1080 for 16:9 mode. Don’t use the smaller Cinema 3D mode, use the bigger one that you have to move your head from side to side to see it fully. Trine 2 is amazing.
Hellblade, Ori, INSIDE, Witcher 3(only in Z-3D as G3D is to buggy), ABZU, Trine 1 and 2 all work great.. about to re-test Outlast and installing Slender right now
Ralf ,no need for extra work .
I use for Trine and Trine 2 and for this one specific movie big screen beta ,where you can switch to side by side.
everything is ok now :-)
But i have to say ,this games and movies were far better in 3dvision from nvidia years ago ,better image quality,no lensflare,no screendooreffect.I had much more bigger expectations about the rift cv1 :-(
it didn´t work out with flipping the sides …but anyway it is just in one movie the case .so i can handle it .
Please tell me,if you have a solution for Trine as i heard it is the one of the games for showcasing as nonoriginal 3dgame for the rift.
Any suggestions for other games maybe in your list .i heard any 3dvisionready games work good with vorpx ?!
Keep up the good work :-)
Hi Ralf ,danke für die Antwort erstmal
The Thing is ,the double images what i see and am talking about ,they are caused by this displaymodes sbs or over and under.;-) The 3d is not full syncronized ,it looks like if somebody is crosseyed
With an alternative videoplayer like “deovr” i have sometimes the same double images but in their menu is an option to setoff the 3dimage and reset it and then the double images are syncronized correctly
In trine ,i tried every 3doption ,the bug is every time there ,maybe caused by an update gameswise?
For watching 3D movies, you need to set the 3d display mode (SBD/Over under) in the vorpX menu (image page).
Not sure about the Trine error, sorry, haven’t looked at them for a long time, but I will check that. Just a guess: if you have the native S3D mode enabled in Trine, try to disable to check whether that makes a difference
Hi experts ,
i get in every 3d movie be it top bottom ,or side by side double images ,in the menu is no option to syncronize
the second problem is in Trine and Trine 2 ,the games are crashing on start up with an error message “unhandled exception ..” .Disabling minidump causes weird artefacts
Any suggestions ?
hi! i’ve just register after read you’re comment on cinema mod. you made me so close to buy vorpx cause everythings i’ve see on the net is a mix bag of happy and disappointed people. so basically , u use cinema to play in 3-d the game like sbs ( trine ) and it’s great. say yes , and i’ll be a vorpx user. i just want to play mirror’s edge in vr and lot of game in 3-d ( witcher 2 , crysis 2-3 ) with my rift cv-1 and i want to know if it’s hard to configure . anyway thx for reading and my bad for my english ;)
Yep. Side-on games such as Trine and Woolf are particularly effective in Cinema mode.
Is there anyway to get nvidia 3D vision games to display in a virtual 3D desktop mode on the Rift?
What about games such as Trine 3 that even seems to offer native stereoscopic 3D options, including SBS? But which I can’t seem to get working in 3D using virutal desktop, bigscreen, envelop, or any of the others…
I’ve had nvidia 3D vision for years, but there didn’t seem to be anyway to get the games working on the Rift, which is what led me here. Unfortunately as pointed out here, many games require specific fixes to even work in desktop 3D mode…
I was hoping that the Rift would be a perfect display for all of my 3D vision games, but that dream was dashed very early… It’s just a pain to turn on the 3D projector, close all the curtains, and put on my 3D glasses just to play a game for a couple minutes…
i thougth the same when i’ve got the vive, but the quality you get on a monitor with 3dvision is too far from what you get on the current hmd, imho if your goal is only play 3d i would stick with monitor/projector at least until next hmd that hopefully will have doubled resolution..
By the way nvidia is moving on vr too, let’s see what will happen..

I agree with OP.
The list is *very* misleading.
As there is no way to test VorpX before buying like with TriDef for example, all you have is this list and some internet chatter.
After buying VorpX it was like a kick in the nuts. Even a game is on the list the VorpX driver itself shows me on the rift that this game is not supported and all I get is a 2D “experience”. If you call that supported… no thank you.
But yes, it has to do something with my steam, steam overlay, ShadowPlay, Virus Scan, (insert random name here) and so on.
Selling the software as “beta” doesn’t help at all, well maybe the author as an excuse.
Some games like Amnesia are unplayable as the refresh rate is tied to your monitor. So if it’s 60 Hz you’ll get a 30 FPS “experience” in VR. *slowclap*
Some games’ physics is tied to 60 Hz refresh rate and here again it’s pretty much useless.
And even the game which run pretty well still have glitches with shadows or reflections.
I tried TriDef and it works and much better for games like Guild Wars 2, Tera, Life is Strange, Trine, Bioshock Infinite and so on. No headtracking, but playing first person VR with VorpX and not being do decouple head movement from mouse movement makes me wanna hit something really hard. The latter not being an issue of VorpX, it’s just the way it is and for me it sucks big time.
The most enjoyable way is really to play on a virtual screen in stereoscopic 3D and for that TriDef is far superior to VorpX.
(Alien, Skyrim, Trine, Portal 2, theHunter …)
For me, Vorpx is not an expense for a game, but a tool to adjust the VR on all 3D games
All these games are supported except theHunter, Vorpx hooked .dll
but for all, remains add manuelement setting, and even with online profiles, it did not help.
What I have seen is a feeling of being too close, too zoomed. And when I move the head, a kind of mismatch between the geometry of perspective and apparent motion. maybe due to lag, FPS, or even not optimum parameters.
Portal 2 for example, the Game Setting Optimization seems to fail (no path found), W Key appears to do nothing
I can change FoV 120 with consol, but it will not be saved
and make changes in the game is pretty exhausting because you have to read the small text too often, or too close, even with the Vorpx Ingame Menu. If one reduces the zoom, this shifts the mouse cursor postion in the game menu buttons
Ralf, have you some tips on how to establish a good base ? (I already rule my resolution to 1280×1024 the game, off Vsync, quality min, 4/3) but I do not know if the beta version still has some problems or if I lack settings.
To your second question: Unfortunately for almost all games some individual adjustments have to be made to make them in work in stereoscopic 3D, that’s why unsupported games ‘only’ work without stereoscopy.
Making 3d activatable for all games and exposing whatever settings you use to make the individual adjustments is imho the single most important thing that’s missing from VorpX and would increase its value by orders of magnitude.
The chances of you buying and configuring all the games I want to use in VorpX are tiny, the chances of you doing this for all the games the community want is zero. This is particularly frustrating for those games which already have excellent 3D when using nvidia’s 3D Vision but none using VorpX (e.g. the Trine series, Street Fighter X Tekken etc).
Cheers,
DD
