Black Ops 1 runs very well now, like your improved World at War Profile.
It has now correct Hands/Weapon Sizes/3D Effects, i tried the Zombie Maps and 6 Singleplayer Missions, of course with the FOV Changer, its great now.
This is real G3D :)

And now i can play Killing Floor 2 without the Steamless Option with the Bioshock Infinite Profile.

Yes, i agree that, for example Killing Floor 2 is in perfect G3D playable via the Bioshock Infinite Profile. But i had to use an special exe to get the Game runninh without Steam that you can rename the Exe. Then you can use an “custom” Bioshock Infinte Profile with it.

The best option would be:
To create an Expert Option, that you are able to remove offical profiles.
If something go wrong, you can just Full Factory Reset. So the offical Profile will then restored in Vorpx.
Maybe its not so easy as i think :), but maybe this could be possible.

Found something else that doesn’t seem right. I have been playing lots of different games with vorpx recently and went back to black mesa this morning. I had the profile set up to change resolution to 1920p and an AHK script to change my desktop to 1920p before launching bms (since you can’t change resolution in game). This seemed to work fine for a while. Something got screwed up and bms would crash upon launching. So I figured I would start over, so I reset the profile, reset settings under troubleshooting reset computer and started again. This time bms did load up and I was in VR mode, but when I pulled up the profile settings, I see that 1920p was still selected. I thought it would go back to 1280p (I thought that was the default). Am I doing something wrong.

I also saw in some other threads (bioshock) that positional tracking was not working right. I too see that sometimes, meaning when I move my head nothing really happens in the vr world. I then turn off posiitonal tracking and strangly the world seems to move when I move my head. Isn’t that the opposite of what is suppose to happen. Thanks

I’m so glad you posted this ralf. I have play 2 or 3 hours so far of Alyx and have enjoyed it mostly. I started out playing on a brand new Index that I was lucky enough to pick up when it went on sale last time, but I really hate the controllers. I really don’t like how to grab and crush things with force, I really prefer the Oculus Touch controller and their grab button. I also hate the touch pad area on the Index Controllers for switching weapons (well I guess its alright).
I rebuilt a PC just for this release and ran into all sorts of issues and I’m a super computer nerd with over 40 computers in my house (3 VR stations even). After having issues with Oculus Home loading up because of HMD not detected, I uninstalled Oculus software and reinstalled everything (took like 12 hours). Played 1 hour with the Index and then switched to the Rift-S. The visuals are truely amazing and the best that I have ever seen, but looks is not everything as I still play old 1980’s arcade games :)
I too have thought that I really did prefer VorpX games like Half-Life 2, Black Mesa (awesome), Bioshock, Borderlands, etc. I like to sit down on a swivel chair and it just works sooo well now.
Thanks Ralf for your incredible product and can’t wait for the next release. Hope that Doom Eternal could be possible at some point in the future.

Half-Life 2: Please empty the scanner cache on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu and re-run the scanner. For HL2 the scanner needs to find several memory locations to work corerectly. If not all are found, it would still signal success, but not work fully. If that does not help, please disable DirectVR positional tracking on the DirectVR page. Default positional tracking will still be available.

Bioshock Infinite: In this game DirectVR gets disabled below a certain draw call threshold to avoid crashes during loading screens etc. So if the issue only occurs while you for example look into the sky or at the ground, it’s probably what is to be expected. However, during normal gameplay this shouldn’t really occur. If it still does, please also disable DirectVR positional tracking on the DirectVR page. Default positional tracking will still be available.

I agree that G3D is usually the best rendition but do not underestimate a proper Z3D implementation!

As everyone else, since my early 3D days using Tridef for flatscreens I would always prefer G3D and get a bit bummed out if it didn’t work well or at all.

However, I have noticed that a few z3D (Z-normal mostly) profiles actually look pretty damn good! And not only that, the performance gains, the correct shadow alignment and far-near controls makes Z3D a worthy contender.

The only issue that could be a deal breaker is the ghosting or outlined blur for near plane objects. However this can mitigated but scaling down the main 3D slider.

In any case, here is my best performance G3D so far:

The original version with DX9 (-dx9 added to the game’s launch options in Steam). Same for Bioshock 2. Better performance and the original versions have better DirectVR support.

In my opinion two of the best games to play with vorpX. Full DirectVR, 6DOF tracking, and an atmosphere that is perfect for VR. Not to be missed.

One caveat: If you happen to have antialiasing forced in your GPU control panel, make sure to disable that. Forced AA tanks Bioshock’s framerate with vorpX for unknown reasons.

No worries.. honestly the program is amazing but you need to work WITH it to get the most out of it – my recommendation, for now – would be to start with one of the “fully supported” games on the Vorpx list here:

Supported Games

ok, so ANY game you want to play on Vorpx – Launch it ON IT OWN first, many games do not ‘create’ their configuration files until after they are launched, like when you install a game on steam, it installs 99.99% of the files for the game except for the configuration files, those get ‘created’ when the game is launched the first time (for the most part, this isnt 100%, but just follow these instructions to make your life easier)

So, launch any newly downloaded games WITHOUT Vorpx first. Let it get into its menu screen and exit out. Start Vorpx, Launch it again with Vorpx, then Vorpx will be able to access the config files for that game and make its necessary adjustments to them (its doing alot of work in the background with field of view and stuff that youll have no clue its doing)

Now the games on the list i sent you should, i believe, in the Vorpx In Game Menu – in your headset, default key to access it is DEL; or on your controllers itll usually be “click in left stick” or right stick to access the Vorpx in game menu, again, the Vorpx in game menu will be IN your headset only, the vorpx program for the profiles and stuff will be on your PC… but in the Vorpx game menu should be an option for “DirectVR Scan” or it might just be called DirectVR. 9/10 this will successfully run and change all settings in those games to make them look good in Vorpx and adopt true “3d”.

Now if youre having trouble with performance, Vorpx has three 3d modes. the most significant and “closest to real vr” one is Geometry 3d. Geometry 3d essentially renders the game twice and most the time gives you full ability to lean forward/back/left/right/up/down, like a “REAL” VR game. This comes at some performance cost tho cause- yeah, youre basically running the game ‘twice’ to get this effect.

For you tho – since it sounds like you just want to turn the headtracking stuff off entirely, theres two other 3d modes that do not have nearly the performance hit – you will still ‘see things in the distance/arrows look like theyre coming AT you’, but doesnt have the full movement of a VR game with your head, those are called ZAdaptive and ZNormal.. for you, these will get you the best performance and results for your buck and arent EXTREMELY taxing on hardware by any means, like geometry 3d can be for certain games. this will be an option in the vorpx in game menu as well.

But, while we are on the topic, most of the profiles link the Vorpx Menu button to to the left stick click, this is sometimes a problem for games, when you get into the Vorpx in game menu, scroll thru the settings til you find the page that lists like stuff about Xbox controllers, there should be an option there for “switching” the Vorpx menu buttons to your Start/Select buttons. Basically itll make it so if you TAP Select/Start, itll do the Vorpx action of bringing up the Vorpx in game menu and if you HOLD the button in, itll bring up your typical ‘pause’ screen.

Sorry for the rant, but really, if you get set up later and wanna get on mic on steam and ask me to help you out, ill jump into a vorpx game and go thru the settings with you over Steam mic chat to give you a quick rundown and get you up and running with a game youll enjoy.

for the ‘first go’ – id really recommend picking a game on that list, just to make things easier and so you can see what the program CAN do, when optimized properly.

My biggest suggestion, from the real list, if you want a good first person game would probably be dishonored 1 or 2 or the bioshock games. If you want something third person, Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, Darksiders 3 and the Surge all work great. Its an amazing program, there are so many haters out there on it but they just didnt take the time to actually understand the program. I wish it was SUPER SIMPLE, which DirectVR does make it pretty close to super simple, but, you still need to know what buttons to press and menus to go into before you get up and running – Vorpx has an explanation on all this in the actual program that will be on your PC.. but it can be daunting. If you wanted to talk to me and me just walk you thru it, we can totally do that.

So take a look at that list and see if theres a particular game on there youre interested in trying as a ‘first go’ and im down for helping if you need it, just add me on steam

no, it can literally be connected to any .exe file on your computer. What happens is like this – when you first get the program youre going to have a list of games under “Local Profile” (itll be a setting on the program on your pc, not in your headset); these Local Profiles are already made and ready to go and will attach to any .exe that launches on the computer that matches the .exe in the profile. So like Bioshock or Dishonored are already ready to start, on steam or off GoG, wherever you like.

As far as supported games, the ‘unofficial list’ has like 700 games on it i think, but in your local profiles will be 100 or so, i think. If you want to find a game not in the local profiles, youll see an option for “cloud profiles”, go there and type like “Call of Cthulu” and any profiles users have made will pop up on the list, you select it and hit “import file” on the right side and then hit apply and vorpx will just be waiting for you to launch “call of Cthulu” or “bioshock”, just waiting to see the .exes get used and then it jumps in and does its thing.

If you have any problems with programs and need to launch without Vorpx, but still have it ‘on’, on the bottom right corner of your start bar will be the Vorpx icon, right click it and click “pause watcher” – thatll effectively make vorpx go into hibernation and not look for .exes being launched, right click it again and click “resume watcher” to make vorpx start looking for .exes being launched again.

You shouldn’t have to adjust the FOV manually for Bioshok (or any other game in the beginner’s list). vorpX does that automatically for Bioshock and about 150 more games.

For the original version the FOV is adjusted by the DirectVR memory scanner. For the remaster by auto editing the game’s ini file.

Reset the profile to default in the config app and afterwards make sure to follow any instructions that vorpX might display when you start the game.

BTW: The best way to play Bioshock with vorpX is the original version using DX9.

BTW2: Always read all messages that vorpX displays in the headset and the top left corner of the game window! These messages usually contain vital information, e.g. the above hint regarding the memory scanner if supported for a game.

I wanted to add, the reason for my previous post trying to encourage you to keep the program isnt just because it does work when you find the rights settings.. but ive put it thru absurd scearios and the part that always works is vorpx.

I played Dark Souls 3 with a First person cheatengine mod with Geometry3d.

I played Mass Effect Andromeda with a first person mod with vorpx and geometry 3d.

I am currently in a first person mod playthru, with vorpx, in Sekiro.

This program can make games play in a way you never thought possible, coupled with the proper mods and stuff. Sekiro in first person VR is intense and amazing, Mass effect gets a bad rap but man, just gameplay wise in first person with that games insane combat system was an absolute blast.

I didnt mean to sound demeaning toward you in the previous post, i apologize, i just wanted to emphasize what this program CAN DO when you just work with it a little bit.. its totally up to you to ask for a refund, im not sure of those policies and like i said, i have nothing to do with the staff or company or anything, just a user… but this program has changed games i never thought would be fun to return to (like deus ex) or games into entirely new experiences like Sekiro modded out.

If you already got your refund and are done with it, all good.. just wanted you to know, this program has potential for incredible gaming experiences if youre willing to put the time into getting your settings right.. it sucks that the settings arent an easy across the board thing, but, it really just depends on each computer and their setup and preferences for how they want to play… what may seem like too complicated of options right now for you are going to be exactly the options you want once you learn the program a little bit. My best bet would maybe look around youtube for vorpx tutorials to maybe get your feet wet on the fundamental stuff..

but really man.. it made mass effect andromeda not suck. :P hooray for vorpx, they saved the mass effect franchise for me :) lol

You purchased a product that requires some ‘work’ from the user because it is doing something that was simply never intended – turning 2d games into VR experiences. Your computer, resolution, game settings and vorpx settings ALL play into this.

the games you have complained about i have made run very well and enjoyed even on an old card, im using a gtx 780.

I am not the creator of vorpx… but as a long time user, i can tell you that your complaints are 100% rectifieable, by you, if youre willing to put the time in and just fiddle with settings for a few minutes. Its literally impossible to make a perfect profile for every PC and headset – you need to use your game settings and the vorpx in game menu to get the games looking as theyre ‘supposed to’, unless theyre one of the directVR officially scanned games. Crysis not launching is 99% chance a driver issue or something and not vorpx’s fault. If you want to totally refresh your drivers and see if that rectifies your launching problems, there is a program called DDU, google it, itll basically reset all your drivers/directx info and set you up with a ‘fresh’ graphics card and that may fix your crysis problem… i really doubt its related to vorpx unless something else is fundamentally broken in your system
