Aled BParticipant
Thanks Ralf, sorted!
Aled BParticipantI’m experiencing similar issues and I’m certain that it’s an older version of vorpx that I can’t update. I think I need a new installer/key? I emailed support on Saturday, how long does a response usually take? Many thanks
Aled BParticipantThanks for this update Ralf, it seems to have fixed most if not all of my problems! Was well worth waiting for.
Aled BParticipantI’ll call it the “Hector Salamanca Bug”.
Well played! ;)
Aled BParticipantI’m using Microsoft Security Essentials. Tried disabling it but to no avail.
Also disabled Steam overlay – no change.
Frustrating as all hell but I’m sure we’ll get there as it seems like such a ‘calm’ crash to desktop, if you know what I mean!
Aled BParticipantFirst off, thanks for everyone’s help/suggestions.
Unfortunately, having tried everything that’s been suggested several times, and having made sure there are no potentially conflicting processes present, I am still having no luck whatsoever with vorpx. I am absoloutely certain that the problem lies with vorpx; not my rift, my tracker, or my rig.
There seem to be more and more people experiencing the same issue as me with Bioshock Infinite – game crashes to desktop after 60 seconds without a crash dump or notice. Have a look at the Reddit Oculus threads, it’s developing into a common complaint.
Even when vorpx actually lasts into the game proper, I have severe headtracker issues. In 6 months of rifting, I’ve never had head movements translate into actual player character movement, but this happens constantly with vorpx. Again, I’m not alone in experiencing this.
Aliens CM still works like a charm though, so go figure!
Aled BParticipantThat might be so, but was trying Dear Esther again now (still no head tracking), and head movements caused player character movements again, just like Bioshock 1.
Something’s defnitely a little weird there.
For the record, both my pad and my rift have performed without a hitch in tandem for the past 6 months or more, and continue to do so unless vorpx is involved.
Please don’t think this is an attack, just trying to figure this out!
Aled BParticipantI’ve had “Handle Gamepads internally” set to “on”.
Back to the drawing board but I’m sure I’ll get there, thanks for all suggestions so far!
Aled BParticipantDon’t think so, tried cloning/extended/single display options in both nvidia & vorpx control panel.
Just tried Bioshock 1 now and it seems to be mostly fine. I say mostly because sometimes tilting my head backwards makes my character walk backwards, same with rolling head and strafing movements. Config screens in game and in vorpx suggest everything’s set up for that not to happen, so could there be an issue with the gamepad emulator that’s built into vorpx?
Aled BParticipantAzuretruth – yes to all, apart from reinstalling any actual games – they run just fine with Vorpx ‘paused’ so I’m confident they’re not the problem.
There must be some seemingly inconsequential conflict going on somewhere, but why this doesn’t stop ALiens:CM from running flawlessly I’ve no idea. That’s the most frustrating thing – I can see how good a job Ralf has done, but only when it’s running one of the worst games that was released this year!
Aled BParticipantTried all of your suggestions, everything I’ve seen suggested elsewhere and absoloutely everything I can think of by now, but still no joy.
Such a shame, been looking forward to this for so long but looks like I’ll be taking Ralf up on his kind offer of a refund.
Just wish I could figure out why Aliens:CM of all games works yet nothing else does (for me).
Aled BParticipantCan’t say that emailing support was much help whatsoever. Customer service a bit lacking for a £30 product. I’ll hope the community can provide a fix in the next few days…
Aled BParticipantHope so, although it would seem we’re on our own!
I’ve never installed opentrack and I’ve never encountered any previous problems with the Rift, so I’m at a loss.
Aled BParticipantShould headtracking just work out the box?
Apparently so, but on the rare occasion that a game has loaded successfully for me (Portal, Dear Esther, L4D2) I’ve not had any head tracking despite what the configuration tool and the in game menu tell me.
Aled BParticipantI mentioned above that I did get Aliens CM working flawlessly. It’s just that nothing else seems to work. Yes, really. Believe me I wouldn’t be wasting my time here otherwise!
Have sent an email to support, hope this gets resolved.
