LaserParticipantOut of curiosity: what gameplay changes does the next gen patch bring that could potentially outweigh the fairly substantial DX11 gfx downgrade?
Others have already posted about the features, mainly the new quest/gear and some minor improvements. I wasn´t aware that the next gen version has such big downgrade on DX11, so maybe for VR I´ll try playing the “classic” version if new profile isn´t going to work.
Never finished old version of the game, because when I heard of the new version I decided to wait for it.
LaserParticipantThanks for the reply.
If the changes applied only to graphics I´d be fine playing the old version, its not like I would be using raytracing in vr anyway :) , but there are also many changes related to gameplay/features.
Z-Normal mode for next gen would be great also, but if it is not possible or too much work I understand that too.
LaserParticipantWould be cool to get this working on next gen patch, or if you (Ralf) don´t have any plans to make a working profile it would be nice to know so I can look for alternative method (superdepth3d) for running in vr or just play flat.
LaserParticipantOr are you just using the standalone mod for CP? Then I don´t think theres is an easy way to disable it without uninstalling?
LaserParticipantJust don´t launch vorpx if you want to play flat?
Or “pause the watcher” in vorpx if you don´t want to shut it down.
LaserParticipantI think that the Z-normal version looks pretty good(?), though I have never seen EQ in G3D.
LaserParticipantWorks also in epic version, just needed to change .exe file name and use hook helper.
Thanks for the profile.Jun 24, 2024 at 5:25pm in reply to: Little Nightmares – I don’t see ANY 3D. What am I doing wrong? #219901
LaserParticipantAlso you can run Little Nightmares with UEVR

LaserParticipantI tried the Little Nightmares game… but I don’t see any 3D whatsoever.. I even adjusted the 3D strength to the maximum of 5 and STILL don’t see any 3D.
Just tested Little Nightmares and it works fine for me. Does it show you “geometry” is selected ingame?

LaserParticipantIf you like Inside, Limbo is their previous game, couple of others that quickly come to mind are Ori and the blind forest and Gris.
LaserParticipantShould work fine.
1. Openxr in vorpx settings
2. VDXR in Virtual desktop streamer.
LaserParticipantShould work, but “generic 3d display mode” isn´t officially supported and many game profiles that work fine in vr headsets have issues or won´t work at all in that mode.
LaserParticipantThanks for all the info Boble! I have only played the original one, I have to think about the play order then, maybe I´ll start with Infinite and skip 1.
LaserParticipantAre you playing the original version or remastered one? I played the original version with vorpx years ago and never finished the game, it seemed to be very crash happy with vorpx back then. In the back of my mind I all ways wanted to make a new playthrough.
LaserParticipantWell I wasn´t going to upgrade my G2, but it decided to die unexpectedly. First I looked at Crystal and Big Screen but both have downsides and are quite expensive units, then I thought about Quest3 and almost bought one. But finally I decided to get Pico 4, my thought process was that I needed something that was available immediately and its really cheap unit.
After few days of setting this thing up and testing it in various ways I am positively surprised how good it is. Compared to G2 the resolution is littlelower but the pancake lenses are far better than the fresnel lenses of reverb. I have only used the pico in wireless mode with my pc, its really nice being wire free even when gaming seated. Pico´s own streaming assistant didn´t work at all for me but with virtual desktop I was able to connect instantly. I still need to mess around with my routers and settings to get best possible wifi connection.
Downsides and upsides compared to Reverb G2 V1
-Slightly lower resolution
-Built in audio isn´t great (I plan to use wired phones connected to pico)
-Stock facial interface isn´t that comfortable (I already printed new interfaces to fix this)+pancake lenses offer much wider sweet spot and the image is clear to almost the edges of the screen
+optional wireless mode
+stand alone mode (not sure that I will be using this much though)
+really cheap, I only paid little over 300€ for the 128GB model, that is almost half the price of quest 3)
+colour passthrough mode vs the black and white in G2 (resolution isn´t great but its enough that you can move around in your house without taking the headset off.
+headset/controller tracking is far better, I couldn´t really play beat saber with G2 controllers due to losing controller tracking. -
