StreetPreacherParticipant
I’m having no problems hooking, however with the Rift I seem to be getting a letterboxed image with the resolution set to 1280×960? The image fills my fov horizontally, but vertically I can see black bands above and below the image in-game using the rift.
Anyone else seeing the same thing, or is this just me? :)
And yes, with a gtx970 the image looks pretty jaggy at 1280×960 with 1.3x scaling (in game option).
to the Vive guy, how high can you push the scaling with a 1080ti?
StreetPreacherParticipantCome on Ralf! The wait is killing me! Probably nearly as much as RE in VR will! Give us some sugar
Lol, I guess that means there has been no update on the update. Guess I’ll just keep refreshing the forum hoping for some news :)
StreetPreacherParticipantNext Friday or Saturday. I had it scheduled for this week originally, but there are still a few things left that need to done, so I have to postpone it one week.
I assume there will be a post here in the forums as soon as the update goes live? Looking forward to checking out all your hard work on DirectVR implementation!
StreetPreacherParticipantBut I still have this annoying issue
– After Direct VR activation
I see flickering/ shakeing sometimes
The whole scene, like 0.2 second duration and after that, is the Portal gun only. Then it stabilizes but the cycle can resume 5-10 seconds laterIn the state it is too disruptive to make the game playable
I just started playing Portal and have been noticing the same issue. It’s an odd flicker every few seconds. I thought maybe it was another of my system specific problems with Source engine stuff, but I guess not :(
Too bad, Portal is the only Source game I’ve managed to get working, and they’re supposed to be some of the first to be supported and should work for everyone lol!
I’ll have to try the cloud profiles instead.
StreetPreacherParticipantHalf-Life 2 is supported for so long, I’m sure there would have been quite a few reports in case of a general issue thus severe.
Yes, that’s the frustrating part! It seems I’m the only person to have encountered any issues lol.
EDIT: I just tested again and it seems that it’s the Geometry 3D setting that causes the problem. If I switch to z nomral or adapative or turn off 3d then all the textures are normal, but they get messed up again as soon as I switch back to geometry 3d…. I’m also failing the FOV scan, if that means anything…
StreetPreacherParticipantIs there a specific build of Half Life 2 that is supported? I’m using the ‘complete edition’ and everything is normal until I try loading it with Vorpx, and then a bunch of textures show up white, black, or transparent… Also episode 1 & 2 don’t even seem to launch with vorpx active…
just frustrating since it seems this is a system specific problem on my side :(

StreetPreacherParticipantweird, thanks. it’s some odd rendering issue. the character models teeth and eyes are also being displayed what appears to be about a foot in front of their faces… More troubleshooting I guess :)
StreetPreacherParticipantAnd since I have your attention, I’ve been searching the forums, but I can’t seem to find any info on why Half Life 2 seems to have messed up textures when I play with Vorpx?
I’ve searched through 20 pages of threads looking for a Half Life 2 thread but haven’t found it yet, so was just wondering if there’s a quick fix for the floor texture just turning black or white, and the walls disappearing so that I can see the city, etc….
I’ll keep searching the forums, but is this a common problem?
StreetPreacherParticipantThanks Ralf, guess I’ll just hang out in Skyrim until the next update goes live ;)
StreetPreacherParticipantDoesn’t Bioshock Infinite crash in every cutscene now?
I just started playing Infinite with Vorpx DirectVR, and the game seemed to stall when I got to the bit where you’re supposed to throw the baseball. I had to disable vorpx and play through that bit normally, and then started up with Vorpx at the next autosave point.
My only issue now is that the game is constantly crashing during gameplay. I’m currently in the gun fight just after the baseball throwing bit, and the game is crashing at different points during the battle… Not sure if it’s Vorpx causing the crashes, planning to try playing through this bit without vorpx today to see if it still crashes…
Anyone else having issues with random crashes during hectic fights while using vorpx?
And I actually like aiming with my face, I’ve been making headshots like a pro, so hopefully this will make the battles go faster and I can concentrate on enjoying the story and environment ;)

Doesn’t Vorpx only watch for games that it has .exe files listed for?
StreetPreacherParticipantI just wanted to post a THANK YOU! Whatevr this DirectVR voodoo is doing, I like it! Skyrim is nearly perfect in VR now. I spent a long time yesterday just wandering around aimlessly, getting ambushed and having unexpected encounters, and marvelling that I finally feel like I’m present in the game world!
The only thing missing is decoupled weapon movement which I assume isn’t possible. I just hope Bethesda is paying attention and gives us proper locomotion in their version of VR games, because this along with free weapon handling (like in the Doom 3 VR mod) would make this just unbelievable!
Oh, and I need a faster video card… where are those 1080Ti cards anyway?!?!?!
StreetPreacherParticipantincrease or change resolution in desktop or in vorpx??
Change the resolution in the game, either in the game’s settings, or by editing the associated .ini file.
Thanks for the tip on using Nvidia AA, I’ll give that a try. I ended up turning off the in game AA Skyrim/fallout as they just make the image look more blurry in VR… Although trees and fences suffer without the AA, it’s still better overall.
hopefully the nvidia forced AA will be the solution!
StreetPreacherParticipantIncrease resolution!
