    Hey Guys

Firstly, can i say great job Vorpx with the program looks so damn interesting, looking into using your program and vorpx in Project Reality 2. But im having difficulty setting the oculus and vorpx up.

Im using Battlefield 3 as my testing platform for the time been, however ive looked at the other threads but i seem to be missing steps or something. Ive connected the oculus rift up to my pc, installed Vorpx, ive made a bf3 vorpx shortcut.

It should also be mentioned, when i do the configuration screen the config is perfect, the picture lines up perfectly, but after i leave the screen it looks all weird and not aligned. Is there something that im missing here? Should i also completely disable my main screen and just use the oculus rift or am i not setting it up correctly.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

I had some problems with this but following Ralf’s advice works.. sometimes.
I’ve found that when it doesn’t work, I have to set it to windowed mode and then it’ll work just fine without crashing.

If I start the game in fullscreen it crashes most of the time, and starting the game from battlelog makes VorpX not recognize it sometimes.

So basically follow Ralf’s advice, set a shortcut for the game, set the game to windowed mode (start it without VorpX to change settings, or change the settings file manually) then maximize it (it looks fine you see no bars or anything) and with that it worked every time so far for me.

PS: The jet mission if amazing in the rift. Highly recommended.

I just see that it´s just working in the jeep. I know that I could look around with mouse. Tank or any airplane is not working (although rolling works in Heli and Jet Cockpit…)
How do I get the game to use Rift Headtracking for Freelook?
When not in a vehicle Headtracking works but it affects the Crosshair (which is not visible) to 100% so its never real free looking, it is bound to the crosshair. Can I change this too?
    Thanks for any help!

    Hello again,

so I just bought and tested, its working for now.
But Im having another problem concerning Freelook in Jet or Helicopter.
It doesn´t work for me, almost sure it´s a bf3 key configuration thing but can´t figure it out…
Had it bound to Cooliehat on Joystick so I unbound all Freelook Keys in the Configuration without success.

    Anyone has it working?

    Thanks!

You´re certainly right regarding the advantage/disadvantage playing with the rift but I would love to try as Heli Gunner or in a jet… :-)

So far we didn’t receive any reports of vorpX being detected as cheat, neither during the closed beta, nor after the public beta release. I can’t fully guarantee this though, so basically you do this on your risk at the moment.

Now that vorpX is out we will contact Punkbuster, Steam etc. again to get vorpX officially whitelisted, which wasn’t possible until now. Until that happens, the above answer unfortunately is the best I can give you.

Generally I’d say that there are so many image enhancement and other DX-hooks out there that aren’t actually cheats that Punkbuster and others would have a hard time if they classified all of these as cheating. But as said above, no guarantees.

Using a Rift in BF3 multiplayer is more a handicap than a cheat btw.. That at least is my experience based on a short test. ;)

Will I be able to play Multiplayer over Internet too?
Is VorpX detected as a possible cheat by punkbuster?

I’ve been able to play online since i downloaded vorpx. The only issue I’ve been having is that sometimes the head tracking doesn’t work, if that happens i restart and im good.

When it loads and you see the Vorpx logo try alt-tabbing in and out. Its usually a black screen for me too when i first load. However it doesn’t crash.

    good luck man!

Thanks for all the information Ralf.
the game still won’t work. I’ve tried many methods of opening the game and I’ve tried disabling my anti-virus program.
all I get is the vorpx logo at the bottom of the game screen that’s it. I can hear the game sound but no visual and when I try to click anywhere on the game. the game simply crashes.
could the settings of having the oculus rift as secondary screen be a problem?
whether to choose to duplicate the screens or extend them or show on of them?

    keep up the good work!

If you have trouble to get vorpX to hook in Battlefield 3, this might help (singleplayer campaign only):

    1. Create a vorpX desktop shortcut to bf3.exe (“Create Desktop Shortcut”) from the vorpX tray right click menu. These shortcuts usually hook more reliably than the automatic detection, but due to EAs Battlelog this does not work in BF3 normally.

    2. In Origin, click the “Origin” menu and go offline. This will disable all online modes of BF3, but also will allow BF3 to start without Battlelog.

    3. Use the vorpX shortcut created in step 1 to start BF3, this will take you straigt to the single player campaign. You may see a black screen for a while, until BF3 is loaded.

If you experience double injection (unlikely but possible), pause the vorpX Watcher when using shortcuts.

    Hi Abdulal,

please no support requests here, use the General section of the forum instead. Thank you.

    To answer your question:

Battlefield 3 is one of those games that might take several times to hook up. For me the latest vorpX version works almost every time now when starting the campaign through battlelog, but obviously that’s not the case for you. Just try a few times, eventually it should work.

You might also want to exclude bf3.exe, vorpControl.exe and vorpX.dll from your virus scanner. The way some scanners monitor memory might interfere with vorpX.

Also: please take a look at the trouble shooting sticky in the general section of the forum, maybe there is something useful.

    Hi people

I’ve tried to run battlefield 3 with vorpx but it looks like it doesn’t work at all. all I hear is loading screen music and I can see the vorpx logo that’s it. nothing more. after that the game crashes.
Is there any method I should do or any solutions for this problem?

I cant get it to work on BF3. Sometimes it starts to attempt to load as the vorpx logo appears but then the screen goes blank and comes back as full screen.

It’s about a 50% hit rate for starting BF3 for me at the moment.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

    Working scenarios:
Sometimes it starts immediately and I will get the VorpX splash screen until
BF3 loads up, other times it sort of stutters between the splash screen and the BF3 loading splash, other times there will be no splash screen and it does the usual BF3 thing of waiting in Battlelog until the game is ready and then goes into game. All of those scenarios work with the Rift.

    Non working scenarios:
The times when it does not work it simply just does nothing, no splash, no stuttering. BF3 loads up without VorpX support.

In saying that I’ve had plenty of time in game already, took me about 30 mins to get a set up which had a good feeling of immersion. Do not attempt to fly anything though as you will crash extremely quickly because of head tracking controlling the flight as well as joystick/mouse. It can be done but you need really good focus in not moving your head one bit.

Infantry/tank combat is excellent, I cant wait for BF4 support as I have been playing the beta.

It should just hook up when you start the campaign from the battlelog. Normally there shouldn’t be anything special to consider.
