I’m having similair issue’s but only with a few games,
These games work for me :
    Fallout New Vegas
    FarCry 3 & Blood Dragon
    Mirrors Edge(but not steam version)
    Garry’s Mod
    DayZ
Stalker Call of Pripyat(but shows a blackscreen can hear sounds tough)
    Battlefield 3
    Crysis 3
F.E.A.R – wich launches with vorpx but runs on my normal screen not the rift even tough the rift is primary display.

Games that do not seem to trigger vorpx:
Bioshock Infinite – the game launches but is not running via vorpx
F.E.A.R 2 – Crashes at startup but briefly triggers vorpx.

    Hi Ralf!

I am building a DIY VR setup (to play COD and Battlefield) to see if I like the concept before buying the CV Rift when it comes out.

I built an HMD with a 1200×800 screen, and it works great!

I’m currently using a gyroscopic mouse for rotational tracking, (thinking of upgrading to Edtracker arduino joystick emulator for less drift)

I would love to use VorpX as your youtube videos played through my HMD are fantastic for my lens setup. Perfect field of view.

BUT, I am a little confused as to the quote on the main page
“vorpX is a 3D-driver for virtual reality headsets like the Oculus Rift.”

‘Headsets’ being the operative word. Not just one manufacturer!!
Then you go onto say ..”But actually you need an Oculus Rift!”

Why do you need to have an OR Dev Kit? Is it not possible to release a version that includes the warping shader/wrapper for all the Google Cardboard and DIY’s out there?

Let us worry about rotational tracking (mouse, wiimotes, kinect, etc..)
Maybe you can release a ‘simplified version’ for DIYers.

I am positive you would increase sales dramatically!

Please Ralf, is this possible? I would much rather use this for my HMD than the alternatives.

    Thanks

Make sure you are running the game in Direct3D 11 NOT mantle.
Create a Shortcut to BF4 using VorpX
In VorpX config Force Game to start on the Oculus
Make sure you have the latest SDK & Firmware for the Rift
If you are using a Catalyst Card, use 14.7Beta drivers

    Hi,
I am currently playing an old FPS : Battlefield 3 using DK2 and VorpX. I enjoy my session but as I am not an experimented Vorpx user, I’m pretty sure that I am missing things that may improve my gaming feelings.
My two main concerns are :
    – The view is linked to the crosshair. I find it very difficult to target with the DK2. Can we use something (via VorpX options or other apps like “opentrack”) to play with the following config : view using DK2 and targeting using the mouse ?
    – I have the feeling that I am very close to my hands and gun on the DK2 screen. I’m not sure it’s related to the FOV (it s set on 90 using Battlefield option). The gun can’t be so big, no ? What am I missing there ?

    Thanks for your help.

(was meant to post here, accidently posted prev in wrong thread)

For Separate Gun and Head Tracking, like when playing VR in Team Fortress 2, is it possible to use ‘VorpX’ and ‘Opentrack’ at the same time?

I just got VorpX and have used it for COD Ghosts, and Battlefield 4. Its great! the only thing that is missing is separate Headtracking to Gun Tracking.

I saw this video of some guy playing Arma 3 with Separate tracking using ‘Opentrack’ and ‘VorpX’ what do you think??? BTW I have never used Opentrack.

    Hi kosmo,

Instaead of disabling head tracking completely, set the Head Tracking Sensitivity to 0.0. This way you can disable the tracking, but EdgePeek stays functional.

Scaling the scene can be achieved by raising the Eye Separation in vorpX (main page of the in-game menu). BF4 only only supports Z-Buffer 3D currently, so the effect is somewhat limited though.

Another thing that affects the perceived scale is the field of view set in a game. Please make sure to set it to something like 95-100 in the game options. Unfortunately this works only in multiplayer, in the campaign this value is ignored. The reason for this is only known to DICE…

Looking at another thread about the delete key not working, it would appear there is an issue at current between vorpX and Battlefield’s rendering engine that is being looked into and possibly going to be fixed, but as to when the fix is available, unknown.

Until the China Rising expansion update, I had played on the Test Range in BF4 trying out my Rift and the controller I’m developing specifically for FPS games. Now that the update came out, I have NO Rift capability in BF, just in other games like FEAR1/2/3, Halflife series and a few other games I’ve been trying lately.

    Guys,

Before you do something like that you might want to wait a few days. BF4 works just fine with the current dev build, including (Z-Buffer) 3D.

A lot of effort in the last weeks went into resolving semi random arcane DRM issues. There are a few things to be done until the update is ready for release, it will available soon.

I think the problem is that the game is still running in 64 bit regardless of the exe used to launch it. When I double click bf4_x86.exe it opens the launcher in my web browser, not the game. Then, I start the game from the web launcher and there’s no vorpx menu when I hit delete or anything.

I tried renaming bf4.exe to see if it would help, but then it errors out when I double-click bf4_x86.exe, saying, “Error Launching Game – The game Battlefield 4 Digital Deluxe does not appear to be installed. Please install it or try relaunching the game.”

Aiekillu, are you running a 32 bit OS which would force the game to run in 32 bit? If not, are you doing anything else special that would force 32 bit? Anybody have any other ideas for how to force 32 bit? I googled a bit and looked at compatibility settings, but have yet to find anything that works.

Oculus Prime, The correct exe is the bf4_x86 (not the bf4.exe)
It’s 32bit and it works perfectly with Vorpx, at least, for me.

The final version has 32 bit support, I don’t have it here to test it, but I read it has 32 bit support in the final version, was the beta the one that only had 64 bit support.

Hi there might be another Problem.

BF4 Beta was 64 Bit only, i don’t know if there is a 32 bit version.

If not there is no way to use VorpX atm.

VorpX supports 32 Bit only (at its current state)
