    Update 2018/12/15

vorpX 18.3.2.2 has been released. This (hopefully) concludes the series of fixes related to issues with the most recent SteamVR version.

    Changes/Fixes:

    • Improvements for WMR headsets related to issues with most recent SteamVR.
    • Fallout 76: FOV did not work since the game got official FOV change support.
    • OpenVR updated to 1.1.3b

    Update 2018/12/09

vorpX 18.3.2.1 has been released. This hotfix addresses the SteamVR head tracking swim/latency introduced with yesterday’s update. No other changes.

    Update 2018/12/08

vorpX 18.3.2 has been released. This is a maintenance release mainly addressing frequent frame judder in SteamVR mode after the latest SteamVR update.

In addition to that some related changes originally intended for vorpX 19.1.0 have been backported to 18.3.2, most notably support for Motion Smoothing (SteamVR), respectively Asynchronous Space Warp (Oculus). vorpX 19.1.0 is still on track for a pre-Christmas release.

    Changes/Fixes:

    • SteamVR: Fix for frequent judder below 90fps with recent SteamVR versions.
    • SteamVR/Oculus: Motion Smoothing/Asynchronous Space Warp support.
    • SteamVR: Supersampling <1.0 is now taken into account (only important for Pimax 5k/8k).
    • Oculus: Crystal Image setting takes user set super sampling into account.
    • D3D11: several multithreading fixes and improvements
    • The Witcher: better Geometry 3D profile, Z3D parameters tweaked
    • The Witcher 2: G3D did not work anymore, Z3D parameters tweaked
    • GTA V: scalable HUD added

    Update 2018/11/15

vorpX 18.3.1 has been released. This is a maintenance release that mainly adds support for Fallout 76. The profile is a fully featured DirectVR profile with everything DirectVR can do in the best case including automatic resolution, FOV (two methods) and basic roomscale.

Additionally minor issues with the program itself and other profiles have been fixed.

In case anyone wonders: the Frostbite engine G3D support that sparked a bit of interest recently is still in development and will be made available with the next larger update 19.1.0 before the end of the year.

    New profiles:

    • Fallout 76: G3D/Z3D, full VR, DirectVR: head tracking, resolution, FOV, tweaks

    Changes/Fixes

    • Effects that look bad in VR (e.g. DOF blur) can also be disabled with Z3D.
    • DirectVR scanner could time out with large scans in low memory situations.
    • DirectVR menu page didn’t behave correctly if both memory scan FOV and .ini edit FOV are available.
    • FOV scan was run despite .ini edit FOV being selected if both are available.
    • Fixed an occasional G3D crash in Fallout 76 (and maybe other DX11 games).
    • Arma III: DirectVR FOV was slightly too high.
    • The Witcher 3: some objects were rendered at wrong depth.
    • Crysis 3: reflections fixed, effect fixes.
    • Fallout 4: minor gun decals and fire glitches fixed.

    Update 2018/10/25

vorpX 18.3.0.1 has been released. This is a hotfix that addresses the issue below. No other changes.

    • Black textures with Z3D in some D3D11 games (18.3.0 regression)

    vorpX 18.3.0 released

After four maintenance releases for the 18.2 branch it’s finally time for a slightly bigger release with a bit of feature refinement and also more and enhanced game profiles. Most notable additions are: Dark Souls Remastered, Monster Hunter World, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

Experienced users can now create much better custom profiles by defining HUD/shadow etc. shaders.

It appears Dark Souls 2 DX9 is broken on VorpX. I just bought the DX11 version SOTFS and it loads fine and G3D works great.

Playing through the souls games in G3D, zoomed out Diablo style, makes VorpX well worth the price.

I do see where I mistyped above. It should read “I have no problems with Dark Souls 1 and 3.”

There are two releases of Dark Souls 2. DX11 2015 and DX9 2014. I have the DX9 version, which is the one that supports G3D in vorpX.

The game will not start for me with Vorpx. It starts fine without VorpX. I am trying to figure out if this is a bug, or if anyone else is able to play this version using VorpX.

    i do not understand.

you say you can run darksouls 2 just fine, but not darksouls 2 in DX9 mode , why do you run ds2 in dx9 ? the game is not supposed to run on dx10 or something newer ?

I can’t get Dark Souls II (older version DX9) to load, I get a white screen. I have no problems with Dark Souls I and II. Is Dark Souls II loading OK for everyone else?

    Hello,
Thanks again for your great work,
Since the new update, dark souls doesn’t work anymore with vorpx on my pc.
When i lauch it , vorpx hooks in it , then i’ve got a white frozen screen.
I’ve tried too reset the vorpx setup but with no luck.
Does it work on your pc?

Dark Souls 3 plays incredibly well, in both 1st person (with a mod from Nexus) or I found it works best for me in a zoomed out, almost to a Diablo 3 level. However, all forms of head tracking work great so I just lean in to zoom tight, and push off to zoom way out. I’ve been bouncing back and forth between the touch controllers and mouse keyboard. Both work well and offer very different game experiences.

There can be some graphical glitches if you push it, but I’m about 2/3rd’s of the way through and couldn’t imagine how I played it the first time without. It feels like an entirely different game. Good Luck, let me know if anyone wants my Vorpx profile.

    hello,

i tried dark souls 3 with this new update and at first it was working great, G3D is amazing, but when restarting the game and loading a save the game shut down and i get back to desktop.

i tried to reset dark souls 3 profile to default settings, and it’s still happens, i tried to restart both vorpx and steam VR and it still happens.

weirdly enough, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, if i try to play the game without vr my save loads just fine.

any help would be greatly appreciated !

I went through the supported games list, and didn’t see much of anything.

There’s Nier Automata, which sounds pretty great. Not much else other than that, though. There’s also Dark Souls, but I’d prefer something a little closer to a traditional JRPG. It’d definitely be worth a shot for the spoopy atmosphere if I got it. And in the way of MMOs, not much else besides World of Warcraft, if anything?

I’d love to play Final Fantasy XIV, XI, Tera, Blade & Soul, Black Desert, Bless Online, even ArcheAge. But not World of Warcraft or Elder Scrolls Online.

And I would love to play some of my JRPG library on Steam. But the only JRPG I see is Nier, and Dark Souls if that counts.

Any very Asian games I can hope to play that aren’t listed on the Supported page?

I hope this topic can help some people so no body accuse me of being a necromancer. I just got Vorpx today :) and am a satisfied customer. I agree with naida133 and Ralf. A simple rendered image without post processing eg AA,DOF etc.. is a good starting place and 1080 horizontal lines are way too few to get a decent image 1440 looks amazing. I have a 4k telly that accepts a 1440p signal natively. The only thing not said so far is there is a setting called crystal image which has off, normal or extreme. A real difference can be seen between the modes. What this setting is doing is changing the ‘supersampling’ or ‘pixel per display’. Normal multiplies the current value by 1.5 and Extreme by 2 ( from 1.4 set in the debug tool i ended up with 2.8!! which is ott). A very strange bit of coding and even stranger name. At first glance I thought this setting must be some sort of horrible post processing and turned it off. It is in fact a very lovely setting that allows me to set a goldilocks ‘pixel per display’ multiple of 2 without opening the Oculus debug tool. thanks for a great software Vorpx keep up the good work. With all of the above dark souls 3 is soooo good and much better than without stereoscopic 3D.

Ok maybe I’m retarded, but some games don’t have that. (dark souls for instance). And pretty sure I’ve seen others without that too.
