Hello, I haven’t purchased this program yet but I probably will in the near future when my CV1 arrives in a few weeks.
I signed up for this specifically because VorpX appear to be a must purchase with the Oculus Rift. I am planning to buy the CV1 but won’t have a delivery until July or perhaps by end of summer 2016. Can we assume that Vorpx will evolve and support the consumer version of the Oculus Rift? The Rift + VorpX looks like the deciding factor for me in terms of which way to go as far as experimenting with VR technology.
I am an avid Nvidia 3D Vision user using a 120 Inch projector setup for some real immersive gaming experiences. I have been active in the Nvidia 3D Vision forums and the work that the community has done on game fixes and tweaks for 3D Stereoscopic is mind blowing. Dead Space series in 3D Vision on a 120 Inch screen is just amazing and has to be experienced to appreciate. I’ve seen a user inject the 3D Vision fix with Far Cry Primal along with VorpX to obtain good results.
Far Cry Primal + VorpX + 3D Vision Fix
Question for anyone here, can these fixes be useful with VorpX? The 3D Vision fixes has ini files that can be set to inject or chain DLL’s. You have to visit the two links that I included in the body of this post. The scope of all that has been done in the last several years is a must look for those that are interested in real immersive gaming for the PC.

VR appears to be steps forward in immersive gaming and based on some Youtube videos of users using VorpX with the Rift, this seems like the right fit for me. Room scaling for the Vive seems half baked to me and while it has glowing reviews, I cannot justify the extra cost for this especially for the first time I am spending any money on VR technology. I suspect I should get several hours of enjoyment with VorpX and the Rift even though it’s not fully refined. Anyone who has this kind of setup, please give me your thoughts and comments for the amount of enjoyment, if any that you’ve had. I realize this cost will be more experimental into VR gaming until the industry matures.
Cheers all!
Either that or you can play in Virtual Cinema mode (can be activated in the vorpX ingame menu). Once you activated that you can lock the head tracking so that the game camera isn’t controlled by head tracking anymore.
For third person games like Dead Space many people find that preferable.
In Virtual Cinema mode you can also change the background scene and adjust the screen distance for better immersion. I like the “Ambience” scene and the screen moved a bit closer for third person games.
Ahh i get you sorry, i was looking in the actual dead space menu, my bad.
In game, when I look left, right etc, the camera follows my movements so i can’t look behind me like in most oculus rift games/experiences. Is this how it’s supposed to be on these game?
Thanks for your quick reply. I have looked in the in game menu (Dead space 3) but can’t see any option called direct mode show original?
Hi guys, I’ve just recently purchased vortx so excuse me but I am a bit of a noob with it :-)
The first problem i have is I’ve tried dead space 2-3 and outlast and each game is zoomed in too much so i can hardly see anything. It’s a little better once the game starts, but in the menus I cant see hardly anything. When i look around the screen follows my field of view therefore i can’t look left and right to see the menus properly. Is their any way to fix this? I managed to set screen size to the smallest, 1024 x 768 (or something like that) which is slightly better but still…..can’t see much.
Second thing is when i start the games, it shows up on my oculus rift but not on my monitor. I have my PC hooked up to my 55″ TV so when mates come round we take it in turns with the Oculus but it sucks if nobody else can see what’s going on on the screen. Can i enable the screen as well as the oculus? Thanks
Update: When i opened zombiu the game would open on my main monitor and not hook, after yanking out the positional tracker cables and restarting the game the game hooks fine, now it hooks even with the positonal tracker connected.
Dead space 3 now hooks, but Necrovision does not hook.
After every time i use vorpx to play gta \ battlefield \ left4dead etc. al my games from oculusd developers crashes ( cyberspace, UE4rollercoaster) To fix this problem i need to shut down vorpx . Including oculus games in vorpx doesn’t help. Sorry for my terrifying english
Did you read the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help? Both topics are generally covered there.
Head tracking has to be adjusted once per game according to the mouse sensitivity.
The field of view (zoomed in) also has to be dealt with, either by setting it to something higher in the game or by using one of the workarounds that vorpX provides in case that isn’t possible. For some games that can be done automatically with the Game Optimizer in the config app, for others you have to do it manually. The options you have in this regard are listed in the Essential Game Hints from best to worst.
Regarding Dead Space 3 specifically: I would recommend to play the game in Virtual Cinema Mode. For third person games that’s often the better choice compared to full VR. With the “Ambience” scene and the virtual screen moved a bit closer it feels almost as immersive as full VR, but is better suited for third person games which have the camera rotating around the player model.
There is no way to edit the Optimizer profiles, but they seldomly rely on the install location. In case of Dead Space 3 the Game Optimizer expects the following file to exist: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\EA Games\Dead Space 3\system.txt .
It may be required to start the game at least once before using the Optimizer to let the game create the settings file.
Hi, i run into a problem with Dead Space3. The game setting optimizer says game not installed.
But it is a origin based one.
Is there a file one could edit , or where can you change the path that voppx optimezer will find the .exe
THX
I use keyboard and mouse. I’ve moved the snap view key to one of my side mouse buttons. Getting the right mouse/rift/game sensitivity settings doesnt take me very long at all, and fov 100-110 seems to work great for everything. So far with vorpx I’ve played f1 2012(logitech d-force pro), far cry 3, bioshock, bio infinite, fallout 3, bf4, ghosts, flight sim x(logitech x3d), and dead space 3. They all work fantastic. I havent configured vorpx for bf4 where i can fly the helicopters very well, but right now fallout 3 is pretty hard to tear myself away from. I haven’t played single player video games in YEARS and now i can’t seem stop. I just dont prefer to use gamepads. On some of the simpler unity demos I do use it, but for anything FPS it feels more natural for me to just use m-kboard.
