In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantthe fact also that you cant even bother to proide any more blog post updates on your progress on this site but instead post it on other sites shows that you really dont give a crap about us … too. i mean i KNOW your not working on the thin 24/7 ……at the very least as i have requested quite a few times….you could give us a updated list of the “80 games” that work with it or something. the fact that you didnt even mention world of warcraft works with the beta even though a german site showed it off.
i mean seriously you want to make a product show a little respect to the people who want to be a part of it….ugh……dont even know why you have this site up honestly just deleate this whole thing and then make a simple page that says “vorpx will come out when I say it comes out and i coudnt give a crap about you ”
lol……..well whatever. least i have unity hopefully by the time my trial ends in 4 months vorpx will be out
yeah right. should have came out 4 months ago.

MrGeddingsParticipantseriously just release the damn thing already this is ridiculous im starting to wonder if this thing will EVER get released i mean we all have DEV KITS it DOESNT HAVE TO BE FREAKING PERFECT! dont understand for the life of me why a guy has to take FOREVER to release a software for a DEVELOPMENT KIT! i mean its not like the first version has to be retail quality you know, its just insane that we desprietly need more content for the rift for those of us who have the rift and arnt entirely game devs (though i am giving the 4 month unity trial a shot and will come out with a demo or two using some sort assets) still..vorpx will add a very nice selection of more games to work with the Rift which is what we need right now. we dont CARE if its bet awe dont CARE if there is some issues. WE ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT ANYWAYS NOW! why the HELL are you dragging your feet on this thing? you TOLD US months ago “vorpx will come out around when dev kits start shipping”
YEAH ARIGHT!
come ON already…….what gets me is WE ARE WILLING TO PAY YOU. your not making any money right now until you open it up to buy (from it) why give it out free to a few people when a lot more people are willing to PAY you to get it!
crazy…..well im sorry but my first reply when this thing “does” come out is about damn time.
just what we need for this project a profectionest who doesnt give a crap about what his audience really wants now nor care about actually making any money from it ..apparently any time soon.
“sighs”.

Susu986ParticipantThe torrent might be a little harsh, but otherwise I have to completely agree with MrGeddings. The fact that Ralf is not releasing any updates, nor there is any communication whatsoever is distasteful. Why would it be so hard to release a daily update of a few words like ‘Today is was optimizing the code for Flight Simulator X’, etc. Hell, we don’t even no if the project is still a go, or not… As someone pointed out Ralf could be even dead by now, it wouldn’t make a difference.
And even though I don’t have my Rift yet, this complete lack of communication is really pissing me off.
I also don’t see the point why VorpX is not relased yet. As we could all see, it already works with many games, and besides, no one ever heard of software update??? Vorpx will need to updated nevertheless when the consumer verison comes out, to support 6 DOF tracking. Or at least I guess so. So, if software update will be necessary than what harm would be done by releasing it now, even strictly as a work-in-progress version? Look at Arma 3! The guys released the Alpha version on Steam, and thousands of people bought it already. The game is in Beta stage now, and all Alpha users updated to Beta, as they will be updated for the final version as well, when time comes. Meanwhile they are releasing DAILY updates in a few sentences, so people now what’s going on. And yeah, they already have a ton of money from it, and the gamers are happy, despite the fact that they have paid for and using a yet unfinished product.
The situation with VorpX is really disappointing, and I don’t know if we can count on it, or it will never be developed. I don’t know, because the only thing I get is complete silence.Jul 11, 2013 at 10:02pm #1977In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantOk Im sorry a lot of us are getting pretty frustrated here. I call for a petition that you release the beta already. IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE PERFECT!
this is a DEV KIT anyways we DONT EXPECT it to be perfect, you dont need to polish it so much that it has to be a “consumer level product” looks like what you have now is still way better then the Perception drivers. it really is frustrating. you give out a few free betas to a few people but the real people who want it most who are willing to PAY to have it even in beta stage you just ignore.
and honestly its also poor that you stopped doing ANY updates whatsoever on your website it makes us feel like you really dont care about us and that your just locked in your little world and you’ll only release it when you “decide” its ready.
The Oculus Rift has VERY FEW actual games to really play on it right now..and yeah its a dev kit but a lot of us arnt game devs we are just passionate about the idea so we supported it. Having an instant selection of 80 games to work with the RIft would be a huge plus, even if it wasnt perfect.
and as i said many times at the Very LEAST could you at least update the games list with the 80 games so far you have planned to work with it?
your commication is even worse then Oculus was at times and i just dont understand why we are pretty much begging you to release it even in beta form and we are willing to PAY you to do so……why you refuse.
and at leas for Gods sake give us a release date estimate you TOLD us that it would come out shortly after rifts started shipping, its been MONTHS.. and you only had a beta preview over at ReadtoVR a mmonth ago but nothing else since.
PLEEASE RELEASE IT already!!!!!! because otherwise whenever you “decide” to come out with it my first comment would be
freaking christ its about damn time!
either that or someone who has the beta should leak it to a torrent if you ask me since this guy is not going to bother to let us have acesss to the beta even if were willing to pay for it then i dont mind paying for the full thing once you “decide” to actually come out with it.
redilicous ..and it sucks for YOU too because you are not making any money right now…if you released the beta now you could be making an actual profit from it.,
so the ONLy logical reason i can get is for you not to release it simply because you are just a super perfectionist who WILL NOT release anything uless you think its”perfect”
just great…..just who we needed to develop this thing……..release the damn thing already. this is ridiculous.

Susu986ParticipantHi Ralf!
How much the new Oculus SDK will affect development?
Did you have any prior plans to include a home-made ipd configurator, which plans you can cancel now? Thanks,

velurianParticipantWith all the latest Rift news being focused on the upcoming 1080p upgrade I thought it might be worth asking if this will affect vorpx to any extent?

wolf5ParticipantThe program might be usable and a few “trusted” people get to try it out.
But to give it out to the rest of the world raises an issue when money is involved.
I bet the program does not have any kind of anti-theft created yet, which means once this program gets out as it is, it will go wild. So some kind of clever way to prevent piracy of the program has to be made or bought and implemented into the software before it can be released.
my 2 cents

AnonymousInactiveValez, complaining about it is just about the only thing we can do to change Ralf’s mind about releasing it. Holding out at this point I feel is self-destructive on Ralf’s part. Timing is everything, but even Ralf should know that now is the time to cash in on the Rift. Anyone who is making money in the “Rift economy” right now will surely be making much more come consumer-time. Regardless, all we can do is keep voicing our frustration on Vorpx.com until he figures this out. Ralf, release it and get the reputation you deserve.

AnonymousInactivePerfect timing to release VorpX Ralf. Customs just cleared, more people than ever either have their rift or will have it next week, you have the momentum, excitement, and still the only driver on the block capable of doing what it does. Are you saying you think VorpX is so revolutionary that you’d rather hold out longer?
Jun 25, 2013 at 4:05pm #1909In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantSeriously you had the rift for what over two months now? youve let several people try out the beta (free i bet) yet you wont open it up for people to buy yet? Just really frustrating as the perception drivers doenst work the best has glitches seems to crash when i try to select the rift head tracker (dont have rift yet but..) will get it today. Please please were begging you release VorpX already. i am perfectly sure it will be just fine releasing it as it is now and just label it beta….the only news you keep giving us is “no idea when its ready” :-(. Please release vorpx soon! so frustrating! about as frustrating (not quite though) as the customs holdup for uS people because its just the fact that we have no news or indication whatsoever when you are planning to release it. maybe it would be good for yourself to create a deadline the problem with not having a deadline sometimes is it can tempt you to go on and on and on trying to make it “perfect” and the months go by and all.. this is a despritely needed product right now as there are only a very small few games that actually work on the Rift.. :-(. Just dont understand why when we are pratically begging you to release the drivers you wont do it. and we will pay you! thats the crazy thing!
Sighs.. you said to us.. your words were that orginally you would release Vorpx “soon after” the dev kits started shipping. well its been two months since then. dont you think its time to let the cat out of the bag?
:-(
Jun 18, 2013 at 6:10pm #1881In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantI agree. But then again considering the whole customs hold up and not sure how long till i get my rift. VorpX actually might be released by the time i get mine lol. But seriously the problem is seems like the guy is a protectionist he rather not release the product even as a beta because hed be too afraid of the public saying ooh it has issues blah blah blah. When it seems to me its perfectly useable as it is right now even more so then the other drivers that alone to me seems worth it. at the very least would be nice if he at least release the names of the 80 games it now support and the fact that he rather share info on Road to VR instead of bothering to update this website at all (i mean come on if your going to have a blog of updates and then you just stop updating the blog …that really isnt very nice).
The fact that we have to go to another website to learn infomation about the drivers.
Please we are begging you and i dont understand why…release the drivers you said 3 months ago when the Rift started shipping you would release VorpX not long after the rifts started shipping and you got your kit……you got your kit near two months ago i really dont understand what the hold up is. Why not go ahead and let people pay for the beta? whats the harm in that? and it seems silly to not even do that because then at least you can start getting money in from your hard work…
“sighs”. always frustrating to wait for something like this when the person has “no idea” when it will be released. We’ll see…..

stevetbParticipantMrGeddings:
I feel your pain and yes, if a Beta was offered today my money would be transferred as soon as I knew about it.
However, this is Ralf’s creation and company and he gets to call the rules on how things are played out. It may not be how you or I would do things but it is what it is and I can respect that. I think we owe it to Ralf to gripe less and encourage more.
The best we can really do now is to just use the tools that are available and wait for the day when this is finally released…….even though the wait is killing me too :)
Take care bud, I am sure a release is closer than you could imagine.

I ordered mine on September 27th, 2012 (#20207). Just received an email from Oculus VR, saying my order status will change to “processing” in the next 48 hours
Schmeltzer a few weeks longer than me. I think both my children were quicker than this… Fingers crossed this is not just because of any announcement to be made at E3….

t3foundationParticipantThis is probably the most anticipated piece of software for me in the next few months. I’m really looking forward to replaying portal 1/2, bioshock infinite and skyrim on it. I actually re-bought skyrim on steam (had in on xbox 360) just because of this driver and the omni. There are probably a handful of gamers such as myself that would pay a premium for early access to the driver :)
