Guys I am using “unreal engine 3” profile which gives you z-normal at least. It’s not g3d which sucks bc that’s how I played outlast 1 and dlc but atleast it’s something.

    Here’s how change the fov
    C:\Users\yourcunt\Documents\My Games\Outlast2\OLGame\Config
    ->Olgame.ini
Change baseFOV to your value. I picked 130
Reduce a bit the image zoom with vorpx
And here you go your game is ready

It uses UE3, same as outlast and outlast dlc. Will it work in geometry 3d just using the outlast 1 profile?

    Hi!
I am having trouble getting Vorpx to hook into a non-steam version of Outlast 2 using my HTC vive.

I can get Vorpx to run fine with Outlast 1 and Portal 2 when launched through steam, but any non-steam game doesnt seem to work.

What might I be doing wrong?
I have SteamVR open and I have even tried to create a desktop shortcut through Vorpx, but every time I open the game (shortcut or not) it just launches normally on my main monitor? (sound in the HTC vive headset though – dont know if that means anything).

I have tried unplugging monitors so I only have 1 and my htc vive, but it doesnt work. It seems it is only non-steam games I have a problem with.

Hope you can help! Please ask if there is any more information you need to give an educated guess as to what might be going wrong.

    Best,
    Thomas T

I was finally able to find the vorpX icon that the guide was talking about. I could not see it until I restarted my computer. I even thought that the guide was for an old version of vorpX and that the new one did not have that icon anymore. I paused vorpX and Oculus Home works just fine now. Thank you so much for all of your answers.

Outlast runs beautifully now, just make sure not to use 3D FOV Enhancement, zoom all the way out so that the game does not look grainy and distorted, activate Virtual 3D Cinema Mode and uncheck Lock Head Tracking.

I would love to be able to play it outside Virtual 3D Cinema Mode, but I don’t seem to find the right settings that will allow me to watch Outlast in fullscreen without showing the black background outside the screen. I tried changing the resolution of the game, setting zoom to 1.00, changing aspect ratios, and also using 3D FOV Enhancement (This last setting makes the game extremely buggy).

Is it normal not to be able to look at the edges of the screen? The guide even shows a shortcut that helps you move through different sections of the screen in order to look at your health bar and other items. This makes me think that when watching the game in fullscreen you will always lose some details at the edges. If somebody knows about this, I would really appreciate your help.

    Thank you so much!

I just finished installing Outlast and played it with my CV1 and I did not really like the experience. I used the profile for this game and the setting optimizer and everything looked really zoomed in. I changed the FOV and the Zoom setting and that “Fixed the problem”. However, I’m still not able to look a the whole screen without having the need to zoom out until I can see the edges, or by using Virtual 3D Cinema Mode.

That was just the first problem. As soon as I started playing Outlast I realized two things:

    1. Textures constantly disappear. Walls, pictures, objects, lights, keep disappearing as I walk.

    2. There are some ghosty looking yellow lights constantly appearing. They usually look just like other random objects, but they are yellow and with low opacity.

I decided to stop playing Outlast, and went to Oculus Home to find out that now I can’t play any of my Oficial Oculus games because they are not supported by vorpX.

Is there a way to turn off vorpX without having to uninstall it? Also, are these problems with the textures normal? I just watched a few videos and it looks like there are more people with the problem of textures disappearing. Overall, I found it to be really buggy. I am using a CV1, GeForce GTX 1070.

    Thank you

    Hi guys.

I´m a noob at VR and 2 weeks ago I got my first VR device, Oculus DK2.
So main reason to get VR is to play old games: farcry 3/4, Soma, Mirror´s Edge, Outlast and some newer titles.
With this post I want to encourage Ralph to continue your magnificent work with VorpX, I know it´s hard and people get frustrated very fast.

Many talk BS about VorpX but with time and effort when using Vorpx, you can get decent in game immersion, if you want to argue about that, use your flat TV and compare…
Of course there are bugs, but think really about that immersion, Ralph is making it all happend.
No railshooting, technology demos etc. BS, f*c* those job simulators.
Just pure games with some time real geometric 3d, let the bullets fly and blood will splash.
I love VorpX and I was suprised how well everything has worked.
I know it´s not easy to adjust games for some random casual player, but use time, use that 30 min for adjusting, read forums before you even start real gaming.
And there are many games what aren´t support but with 1-2-3 you get them work!
I think it´s not difficult to add native VR support to 3d shooters and drive games(Project Cars GOTY, wow) but big companies won´t do it, because there are too few VR users and many indie games are pure shiat.
We have to wait at least PSVR and maybe 2-3 years to CV2 and VIVE2 to get VR to the mainstream.
I´m just glad that the hardware has gone forward and sky will be the limit!
Christmas gift to my self will be CV1 :)
My All best to you Ralph and I hope Gabe Newell and some another bigshot will contact to you and give some help so you can take this to the next level.
I know there are lots of people who think like I do.
Btw, this is not a payed advertisement to Ralph, I´m only full of people who complain for not doing adjustments right!

I agree it works like a charm, especially with Pascal. I am getting 90FPS with detail on medium or high, Geometry, and super sampled resolution. Head tracking and positional tracking on. I am talking about the best Vorpx games like Dishonored, Shadow Warrior, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Bioshock Infinite, Outlast, Dead Space 3. To me, they run about perfect now apart from minor glitches. To be honest i also like Z3D in games like Alan Wake, but of course Geometry is the best mode because of the positional tracking. I suggest to further improve the interface of the software and the documentation about each option to make it just a bit more user friendly.

    All right thanks,

Another thing about zoomed in issue which i have been trying to solve it for so long.

So far, Game menu is still extremely zoomed-in with full vr mode (Non-virtual cinema mode).

But During gameplay, it seems to work fine such as far cry 3, outlast and l4d2( not supported but able to tweak fov by console).

Other few multiplayer games such as battlefield 4 doesn’t seems to work when i set it in game setting optimizer. I don’t know about rift users, they seems to work judging from their youtube videos.

Really at the end of choices. Could use some help thanks. If all fails, i might consider reformatting. But again, that could be pointless, if nothing could change at all.

Sorry i meant Game Main Menu is extremely zoomed in. Gameplay seems to work fine for me in outlast. But can’t say for other games such as battlefield 4

the zoomed in problem is due to low FOV. You have to set it in game setting optimizer. But the problem is, there’s no effect at all. I’m using htc vive and playing bf4, glad i’m not the only one with this problem.

The only game i got it working is outlast. But only during the gameplay. In-Game menu is extremely zoomed in, so i don’t know whether is it intentional or a bug. That is if you are talking about non-virtual cinema mode.

Virtual cinema mode works fine for me.
