dellrifter22ParticipantDon’t know what your PC spec are, but even high end computers will struggle to play RDR2 with high settings. So don’t expect very high frame-rates until Rockstar optimizes better. I’m playing at 35fps on a 2080ti.
The higher resolution you set in game, the better it will look in your headset. But the higher the resolution, the greater the performance cost. So you’ll have to be the judge of which is most important to you: frame-rate or visual clarity. For me that target balance is 35fps at 3200×2880 on Reverb.
I was not able to get 1:1 aspect to show in RDR2, but 10:9 seems to work, with minimal cutoff of some reading texts. You could try 2400×2160 and see how better that looks in your Vive Pro. It may perform similar to your current setting if your lucky, but look less blurry.
In case you missed it, here is a post about settings I use with the mod:
Red Dead Redemption 2 FullVR with FOV modIf you are struggling to keep an acceptable frame-rate though, I would recommend using the default profile in immersive screen mode. That will have less performance impact and look clearer on low resolutions due to the smaller screen surface area.

dellrifter22ParticipantIf you are getting crashes after RDR2’s November 14th update, re-download the new 3.2 version for the FOV mod from PCGamingWiki.
If you are getting choppy motion, toggling off vorpX Direct Mode Async may help. This setting is found on the Display Settings page of the delete key menu.
The new patch seems to help with performance, but if you still have additional stuttering, you might enable async compute in RDR2’s system.xml. Not sure if this only applies to Vulkan, but it has helped some gamers.
C:\Users\(user)\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings… system.xml
<asyncComputeEnabled value=”true” />
Another possibly useful patch note that I haven’t tried yet:
*Added an additional launch argument (-cpuLoadRebalancing) to rebalance workload on the CPU cores and avoid hitting an edge-case in certain NVIDIA graphics card drivers that causes significant stalls on 4-core and 6-core CPUs.Hope everyone has been able to resolve their launch issues and are now enjoying the game. I am for sure.

DaveParticipantIn my case the game works well without vorpx.
With Vorpx it hooks well, but if i start the story i will get a loading screen loop.I bought the rockstar launcher version,
i did a factory reset to vorpx,
set dx12, 3200×2880 window resolutionWhat should i try ?

dborosevParticipantLooks like a new update is releasing today to fix the stuttering:

forlaunchcastParticipantDoubt it’s related to vorpx, but who knows. There is a lot of internet chatter about this stuttering with the theory being that RDR2 is pushing the CPU too hard. No idea if this is the case, but you can read more about it here :https://www.pcgamer.com/red-dead-redemption-2-stuttering-fix/
My problem is trying to get more fps. Despite the “internet” saying textures don’t make a huge difference, I found going from ultra to high really seemed to smooth things out for me in vorpx, but could be my imagination.

dellrifter22ParticipantI was able to solve the boxed in cursor by setting my monitor to the same resolution as the game first in Windows Display Settings. I still need to run the game in Windowed Boarderless to prevent squishing, but things look and work as intended now.
I’ve found 10:9 ratio 3200×2880 to be the perfect size to fill FullVR (zoom 0.90) in my HP Reverb without waste. It looks nearly HD monitor sharp while maintaining above 35fps with a mix of high and Ultra settings. It’s coming together nicely and making my investment toward 2080ti/Reverb worth it.
I know there are a few other Reverbers in here, so I’ve posted my setup here and on the cloud for anyone to try. Soon I’ll be ready to start playing for real, just gotta get it best it can be first 😎.
@ nieda : Did you get it to work? Are you able to load the game without vorpX? What are your system specs. Hopefully it’s not running out of ram or something.
@ testgrounds : The game doesn’t seem to have selectable aspect ratios, but you can create your own custom ones in Nvidia Control Panel and they will show up to choose from in game – if your TV supports them that is. If you want to play in a 4:3, you might try 1920×1440 for example. As mentioned above, try setting your TV to the same resolution or higher than the one you use in game, and it should solve your cursor problem.
@ matteo : Seems like it. With modest settings at least:

zig11727Participant@Ralf
The game was working fine on my Index I received to updates one for VorpX and Rockstar launcher. When entering the mission Old friends I get the following error Red Dead Redemption 2 exited unexpectedly.
Vorpx version 19.3.0.2
Rockstar Launcher version v305926 1.0.12.172 2.0.37Without running Vorpx I don’t get the error.
I will try the game on my HP Reverb and Oculus Rift S and update my finding.

RalfKeymasterLooks good so far. Time for a little teaser, I guess. The new vorpX version that can handle the game will be out tomorrow.
For those who didn’t follow the discussion: the game runs exclusively on D3D12 and Vulkan, which vorpX both did not support until now. The vorpX update tomorrow will provide basic D3D12 support, currently limited to Z3D though. Given it’s an open world game with large scale outdoor scenery Z3D works fairly well in this case.

dborosevParticipantI know it doesn’t mean much coming from one site, but this site lists dx11 as minimum requirement for RDR2 in the bottom section.

jjenssonParticipantCounting the days for it myself. Apart from perhaps the new Jedi game, this is the only game I’m looking forward to anymore this holiday. Almost as excited as I was for Witcher 3.
Haha, we seem to have the same taste in games. I can’t wait to play Jedi: Fallen Order, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is also on my list of the best games of 2019.
It would be a tragedy if those two games don’t work in VorpX, because there is almost nothing new worthwhile to play these days.
That said, there is guy (i think his name is Luke Ross) on Reddit who just published a VR mod for GTA5 that works without VorpX. He also said that it should be theoretically possible to do the same thing for RDR2. Don’t nail me on the details, but those infos are quite fresh and can be found on the Oculus and VirtualReality reddits.

dellrifter22ParticipantWhile an odd site here or there adds windows 8 (not dx12 capable) to the compatible list, the official requirements only mention 7 and 10 (same as Modern Warfare).
This makes me a little nervous, though I’m trying to be optimistic about the Rockstar official requirements page leading with the phrase “Red Dead Redemption 2 has been specifically developed to perform on a wide range of machines”.
There are info rumors derived from data mining that reference both dx11 and dx12 support, including ultra settings and features. I have no doubt there will indeed be support for 12, I just hope the 11 part is true also.
Counting the days for it myself. Apart from perhaps the new Jedi game, this is the only game I’m looking forward to anymore this holiday. Almost as excited as I was for Witcher 3. It’s too late Ralf ;) . Would be pretty awesome if it can work in vorpX!
