Two years ago someone made a head tracking mod for use on WoW private servers.
With a good bit of effort, I was able to get it working! But his suggestion of using Tridef for 3d effect makes the game judder when turning your head.

Using Vorpx instead of Tridef solves the judder issue. Unfortunately I can’t find a profile that also adds 3d. It needs to work with version 1.12.1 of the game and the current WoW vorpx profiles don’t hook with this older version. (I’ve been using a skyrim profile which hooks but without any 3d effect.)

So my question is, does anyone have or know of a profile that will add 3d to WoW 1.12.1?

i have a htc vive gen 1 and 2 lighthouses, i’ll try to set them up differently, thank you for this advice :)

my issue with positional tracking is in all games now, black mesa, skyrim, i think there is something in my setup broken or not set up right, i’ll try to fix it.

i also ordered a valve index but i wont have it anytime soon specially in that corona period :/

i noticed since months that one of my light house makes weird noise, still solid green light tho but i’m not sure if it’s working 100%.

i did a fresh w10 install with zero extra softwares, no antivirus, msi afterburner etc installed, and it still happens, but yeah i’ll just disable positional tracking for now.

it’s weird because before it was working great, i mean, months ago, i’ll have to see if i can get it working with skyrim ^^ for that game i’m 100% sure i had everything working great including positional tracking.

I think it would be great if you somehow implement ReShade within the vorpX interface. Nothing, and I mean nothing, would be as useful for fixing games. Take games with poor AA options (looking at you Fallout 4) – you can fix that in a matter of minutes with virtually zero performance loss using ReShade. It’s also helpful for fixing games coded by dingbats that think “HDR” means crushed blacks and blown out whites (looking at you Skyrim) when HDR actually means the opposite (proper HDR lets you see more detail in both the darkest and brightest portions of scenes). Then add the plethora of fantastic filters that let you correct unusual aesthetic decisions, like the overly colorful and soft “this is a video game!” look of FO4 (use ReShade to decrease the saturation and add film grain, glorious!) There is thread or two over at the Pimax forums trying to get Pimax to implement a way to force ReShade to work on their HMDs, which has gotten quite a bit of attention.

Almost certainly means Imaginator. It changes colour, contrast, saturation, applies tones etc.

Games not on the “list” may still work, using another profile from the vorpX cloud. A lot of times, its just trial and error. But There are already tons of games that people have uploaded profiles for, that aren’t on the official “list”. I play them all the time. As for specific ones, best to do a forum search to see if anyone has tried it.
I play Cinema mode games all the time in VorpX. In fact, its my favorite way to play games in 3D, even for first person games. Skyrim SE works, RE2 works. They are all great. Do a search here to see what games you are interested in.

Oculus Rift-S user.
Thanks for developing and providing this excellent forum website.

My question pertains to games not on the official or unofficial or inofficial lists. I was told that Vorpx can be used with Final Fantasy XIV and other games not on the lists.

If Vorpx will display those games, in support of 3rd person gaming, as the same as just watching a movie (cinema or theater mode), then count me in. I’m not sure what the correct terminology is.

Skyrim-SE is another. Yes, I have the Skyrim-VR and got severe motion sickness; so I believe if I can play Skyrim-SE in 3rd person in (cinema or theater mode), then Vorpx will be well worth it, and I wont get motion sickness. Other games, like Resident Evil -2-remake and Resident Evil 7 would probably be fun in Vorpx.

Unfortunately i only played kingdom come with regular mods and vorpx, i wasnt aware of any motion control stuff going on with that one. If you got info on that, im 100% interested cause that game could be awesome if you were actually prepping the swings.

I really recommend tho – having been messing with VR since DK2.. Walking Dead Saints and Sinners is the best implementation of VR into an actual “GAME” that ive seen yet. I really would recommend you refund skyrim and fallout and get that if youre short on cash. Skyrim and Fallout are great – but they are very much so “vr tacked on” – it works, its fun, just like games in Vorpx are fun even tho they arent 100% VR…

But if youre really looking for the most legitimate “oh shit, this is what you CAN do with VR”… i think Walking Dead makes the strongest argument for VR that ive seen in all these years since DK2 first got out into the wild.

And i did try Dark messiah of Might and Magic and it just didnt hold up for me well enough to get past like the first hour or so.. might be exactly your type of game, so might have a blast with it.

My best vorpx experiences have been Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro with first person mods. Mass Effect andromeda with first person mod… and others but my brain cant think of em all right now, lol. i got evil within 2 running in vorpx at one point, i think i used a dishonored profile and that worked awesome, but people have said it doesnt work anymore with that profile, i dont know, youd have to test it yourself, but if you get it to work, it was awesome with the first person mode in that game.

Dark Souls 3 is great in first person vr if you wanted to try it but you cant use the lock on – you need to basically play a 2 handed rolling character without a shield or magic, the ‘mod’ to get it in first person just doesnt ‘play well’ with the lock on. For Sekiro its much smoother and that isnt really an issue, loved em both in Vorpx. Sekiro does have mods on nexusmods to add ‘invincibility frames’ to your dodge like Bloodborne if you wanted to make it a more ‘palatable’ experiene. It can be difficult if youre getting ganged up on in that game and dont have i frames in first person, i played without it, but i can definitely see how it could be essential for some players.

One last message :P Gonna try out duke nukem 3d next, dunno if its as well translated as hl1 and q1-2 though. I doubt it. Also wanted to put it on the record, I bought skyrim vr and fallout 4 vr(just cause it was so discounted, I hate paying for that shit again) and its amazing, bethesda couldnt make a bugfree game with a gun to their head! I spent more time making those two playable properly than any non vr game I done :P But once I got them stable and a conservative amount of enhancment mods their pretty awsome. Also was wondering of you tried might and magic dark messiah through vorpx? So far its the game that looks and runs best so far, its look to aim ofc but doesnt seem to be a problem in that type of game, also tried kingdom come, it seems worth playing with look to aim aswell, but saw a youtube video of someone using motion controls to punch and maybe swing sword. Didnt find any sources or guides for it though

I think I found a workaround although I think it should still be considered broken because ultimately the Override X-Box Gamepad set to Off isn’t really set to off. It should use default X-box controls but even after setting to off I had to set other settings to off also.

I did these steps:

1. Performed a full factory reset.

2. Opened Skyrim and made the following changes in the VorpX in-game menu:

Headtracking=disabled
Override X-Box Gamepad=Off
VorpX Gamepad Buttons=Off (Why is this necessary when override gamepad is off?)
Changed FullVR Right Stick Y Sensitivity from 0.3 to 1.0 (Why is this necessary when override gamepad is off?)

Before I did these steps, right stick Y sensitivity made no difference but now it does.

I hope this helps someone. I will report if my workaround has further issues.

My settings were great before but a patch has broken them.

I am running normal Skyrim, not Skyrim – SE and it’s been working fine. I haven’t played in many months and last night, VorpX updated to 20.1.0. The profile was updated for Skyrim. The gamepad emulator mode has never worked for me and I’ve always set Override X-Box Gamepad to Off. This time, I do this and everything works fine except the Y-axis on the right thumbstick. I cannot look or move the camera up or down. If I move the right thumstick slightly to the right or left so that it’s mostly Y-axis but just a little bit of X-axis then Y-axis does respond but it responds only very slightly. It’s by no means a workaround but I shows that there is some input happening somewhere. The closer I get to true up/down Y-axis, the up/down motion stops entirely.

This is definitely a bug because if I exit VorpX, right thumbstick works fine.

Somewhere, the Y-axis is being overridden by VorpX even with Override X-Box Gamepad set to Off. Head tracking is disabled and all other settings are from the cloud Skyrim profile (default) for 20.1.0.

I’m not sure which new patch version broke my stuff since it’s been a few months.

Hi all, been using vorpx with my DK2 for a year now and recently picked up a Razer Hydra for not a lot of cash, using the steamvr Hydra driver they work great in steamvr titles (currently skyrimvr).

However I can’t use them with vorpx because Oculus see’s steamvr as a running app so won’t then start anything from the Oculus dash.

Is there a known workaround or am I doing something silly. The hydras are recognised and mapped as Vive wands for what it’s worth.

1) Skyrim does not need any custom resolutions. You can set the resolution as high as you want on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu by choosing a preferred quality. Go for something like 1440p or above for good image quality. Keep an eye on performance though. Higher resolutions cost performance. It’s all about finding the right balance here.

2) If you encounter graphical glitches, try another 3D mode. If currentlly you have sleceted Geometry 3D , try Z3D or vice versa. Make sure to restart the game afterwards, just in case. Z3D doesn’t look as natural, but is a lot faster.

3) Memory scanner: See my reply in your other thread.

4) Do not use supersampling in SteamVR with vorpX! That has (almost) no effect on image quality, but may cost performance. The right way to enhance image quality in vorpX is raising a game’s resolution like you would do when you play a game on your monitor. If vorpX can handle it, you can do that on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu. Whenever that is case, you see an according message in the top left corner of the game window. If vorpX cannot handle it, games usually allow to set the resolution in their options.
