Here’s what you can expect when Lord Titan rules your PC ;)
Titan Pascal Vs VorpX Skyrim
You won’t regret it. however with one 1080 now, I’d first buy another and SLI them, then sell them and go TXP if you had any issues. Sky loves SLI so it’s likely you’d be fine. I’m currently saving for a second TXP for that reason. Once you see/play Sky with a Titan, the power corrupts you quickly ;)
Awesome, Ralf! Will this update also include the vive-mote controls? Will I be able to finally play Skyrim the way it was meant to be played?! Even if you have to lie to me, just say yes.
So Ralf did send me the solution and it worked flawlessly :)
I am so happy right now!
It would be good for people who use MO to check if they too have the same issue.I am sure that a lot of people may have that bug but just think the issue is because of mods lowering frame rate!
Thank for you hard work on a Sunday man.You are amazing.I thought all hope was lost because as soon as I mention Skyrim and mod organizer in the same sentence people assumed I was an idiot who couldn’t manage ini’s and just didn’t know how to mod properly :(
So, here’s the deal – be aware that I spent two hours of a Sunday for this. :)
If the Mod Organizer is used to start Skyrim, a Windows function to obtain the version of a vital – one could say THE vital Windows system DLL, which is used by each and every Windows program – fails with a “file not found” error. That is obviously nonsense, as the DLL can be loaded just fine, otherwise Skyrim wouldn’t even launch. Due to this vorpX operates in the wrong mode, which in the end causes your FPS loss with Mod Oganizer. My guess would be that the program messes with DLL search paths, but that’s just speculation.
I have now implemented a fallback method if something like that happens for whatever reason. For me it fixes the Mod Organizer problem, so there’s a good chance that it will work for you too. Will be in the next vorpX version.
IMPORTANT: The fallback may cause other problems, not work at all on your PC or kill your cat, so please consider it totally unofficial and absolutely not guaranteed work!
Having done a fair bit of Oblivion modding myself back in the day, I totally get that you love Skyrim the most with dozens of mods installed, but honestly: just get rid of the organizer you are using if it causes issues. No mod(s) can be important enough to not play Skyrim in VR just because some mod organizer program does odd things.
I´d really like to have another solution for you, but if the mod organizer is causing your problem, the easist way to solve it is not using the mod manager. As said above, I will look into it, but since the manager seems to cause a – absolutely unnecessary for Skyrim – modification to Windows in regard to the version it reports, I can´t promise whether there will be another solution than simply not using it.
With the right settings and right mods it is possible to mod Skyrim even for VR.
When I didn’t have the issue in june, I had 45 mods running flawlessly on 1280/1440p with Vorpx, with a 55 to 60 fps outside in Whiterun for example and 75 to 90 in interiors.
Not being into Skyrim modding myself, I can´t really judge the importance of the mod organizer for you, but for a host of reasons I would strongly suggest to play Skyrim without any mods at all – or only those that seem really essential to you.
The game is quite a resource hog already without stereo rendering. If you use so many mods that you can´t handle them without an extra organizer program, you almost certainly have too many mods installed for vorpX to run at a decent frame rate anyway.
As difficult as it may seem to you if you modded Skyrim for years, try to follow this rule: choose the 5-10 mods that you positively can´t live without. Check each one of them for it´s impact on performance. Sort out the ones that reduce FPS. Enjoy Skyrim in VR.
This is weird, because in May it was working still (at least before I started Skyrim again in September) and I guess I am one of the very few that has an issue launching MO with vorpx since there is absolutely nobody else making topics with that same issue.
The only change that may have happened was the anniversary update from windows in august.
This is devastating news to be honest, because any mod manager that isn’t MO, is, to my frank opinion, pure garbage and should never be considered. From what I’ve read in their forum Nexus Mod Manager is barely working if at all since the new version…
I’m baby fresh new to all of this.
My Hardware (Laptop)
MSI GT80S 6QF
Intel Core i7-6920HQ
GTX 980 Desktop Class (Dual SLI) 8GB DDR5 (each)
1TB 7200RPM + 512G SSD (Super Raid)
32G Ram DDR4
I’m searching for a guide on here, can’t find anything in the search bar. All I run into is some good stories about it working, some bad about it not working.
Where are the actual guides for getting started? what to do, what to avoid? some rule of thumb basics? A straight up beginner guide setup? (sort of like Gopher youtube channel with the mods) of course doesn’t have to be youtube, written is fine – though I’ll take youtube if available.
Any help appreciated thank you.
Thank you for your reply.Actually I made a mistake in the title, it is Mod Organizer of course that I am using, not NMM.Shadows seem to work fine with Mod Organizer though?
As I said, I am killing myself since now 10 days to try and fix it.I have reinstalled everything many times (including Vorpx). So now, it is a completely vanilla game and vanilla Mod Organizer.
Without the rift, the benchmarks I do give the exact same fps and gpu/cpu usage between vanilla launcher/skse and vanilla skse/launcher through Mod Organizer. And absolutely no ctd (I could play for 10 hours straight and have 0 ctd).
But when I use Vorpx, skse/launcher will give me 50 to 60 fps, and then when I launch skse/launcher through MO I get 30 to 40.
I have tried so many things, and can’t find out why Mod Organizer is conflicting with Vorpx.Plus it seems that the more I launch through Mod Organizer, the more likely I am to get CTD’s inside Vorpx, while I will never get CTD’s playing on my monitor. And to fix the CTD’s I have to reinstall Vorpx every-time.This and strangely, my settings for in game skyrim never save after I close the program even though I did the vps save and reload trick.
I want to fix it so bad, Skyrim without Mod Organizer isn’t an option sadly.
Hello.I have a very, very strange issue with Skyrim Mod Manager and VORPX.
I suddenly lost 15 fps in average with the game.
To try and keep it short, after a lot of troubleshooting and benchmarks (and reinstalling, etc…) I have come to the conclusion that Launching even just a vanilla (yes vanilla) session through Mod Manager has the game run 15 fps slower in average than just skse (or tesv only) with Vorpx.
I know someone will tell me to look the INI’s but they are the same, trust me.
My last benchmarks, without Vorpx, has shown to me that a vanilla skyrim launched normally or through mod organizer gives the same FPS.
So ya, the issue is between Vorpx and Mod Organizer.
Any help would really be grateful!!
I vote for a top priority with this profile game,at the time of their arrival time of launch (October).
Every day, count time remaining and I wonder if we will be able to make better use of hardware with the new version of Skyrim (remastered),with some improvements, including 64bit version.
My main goal with Vorpx, fully well above any other existing games, are definitely Bethesda games (full vr and 3D geometry),with the help of some mods and tweaks. (Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3 / NV / 4)
I recently got a new GTX 1080. I still I have doubts whether this unit and return to jump or not,Titan x pascal and i7 6700k cpu …
I have lately noticed a small bug, related to rendering and positional tracking.
I’ve been noticing this for some time.
Encountered this problem with Cv1 headset, but do not know at this time if this also happens or not with Vive headset.
When active tracking positional in some games,or reset this function (with keys Alt-Space)the image appears is instantly resized automatically.
From this moment I feel a “black band” at the bottom of the image, even with the zoom in the maximum value.(example Skyrim)
I remember in old versions, reset positional tracking, did not perform this action.
Is there any solution for this? Could set this in the new update?
You really need to be one of those people who don’t get motionsick to enjoy it right now I think. I wouldn’t buy a Vive expecting Skyrim to be the sell. I think it’s amazing to walk around in, but I’m not sure I’d be able to enjoy it as it is right now. It requires a lot of tinkering to get working well and you really notice how weird the proportions in the world are.
