    Howdy,

I can play Space Engineer’s without Vorpx with no problems. However, when Vorpx is running SE crashes on launch with the following error:

“The current version of the game requires a Dx11 card. If you would like to play the game without it, please select the Dx-32bit BETA tab from properties.”

I have a GTX 1070 and I’m fairly sure that card supports DX11.

Any guesses as to what I can do? Obviously, I can run it in DX9 as the error message suggests, but that sounds like a defeat, not a solution.

    Thanks in advance.

So far, I’ve loved this tool. Nicely done Ralf.

Given that this is still way in beta (so no complaints here), any idea how often you expect to work on Vive support? I’m curious if it’s the primary hardware your focusing on, or secondary.

I wanna try Space Engineers, but doesn’t quite look like it’s ready yet haha

    Space Engineers only uses DX11.

Error message in DK2 headset: Sorry, SpaceEngineers.exe is taking a while to load. If this issue persists, please take off your headset and check this app on your computer.

Several games seem to work ok but Space Engineers gives me the above error message. The game loads and shows up on the monitor but the mouse cursor isn’t visable. If I stop VorpX and start the game then the cursor comes back so I know the VOrpX is affecting the game just not showing in the DK2.

I’ve let it sit for several minutes but it just sits there displaying that error message. I’ve run through the basic trouble shooting but was wondering if there is something else I could try.

I know i probably sound stupid, but how on earth can do you set a custom resolution in space engineers, also there is no optimiser options in the vorpx control application

I’ve had Space Engineers and ETS2 run on the Rift before, Space Engineers wasn’t hard to get working before, ETS2 was a bit of a run around, but they both worked.

Everything works fine without the Rift, I play F4 and GTA V daily and I have no problems with any other game aside from when I have VorpX open.

I’ll download the Dinosaur Island demo and give that a shot. I like Life is Strange so I’ll probably download it and try it.

I haven’t found how to open the Desktop Viewer, so if you can point me in the right direction for that that’d be great.

but will try dinosaur island now.

OK. ‘Euro Truck Simulator 2’ (and apparently ‘Space Engineers’) is a pain to set up even on a working system, so I’m not worried about that.

I’d like to confirm an application working in the Rift without vorpX… you seem to have ‘Steam’, so could you download and play the free ‘Back to Dinosaur Island’ demo and see if there’s any issue there?

If so, we can start introducing vorpX… ‘Life is Strange Episode 1’ is only a few dollars and would be a great testing application. It runs fine with the Oculus 0.8.0.0-beta Runtime and vorpX 0.9.1. Can I persuade you to purchase it in the name of troubleshooting?

BTW, ‘Project Cars’ runs natively with the Oculus 0.8.0.0-beta Runtime, ‘Assetto Corsa’ does not, so please don’t try Assetto Corsa.

So… (1) Can you use the vorpX Desktop Viewer, (2) Can you run the ‘Back to Dinosaur Island’ demo, and (3) Can you run ‘Life is Strange Episode 1’?

Space Engineers seems to make problems since a patch some time ago. For some it still works, for others apparently it doesn’t. Will be looked into, but it might just end up being removed from the supported games list. The game always performed bad, and recent versions even made things worse in this regard.

The others should work fine though. If both show the same symptoms, it’s not unlikely that something on your machine conflicts with vorpX. Since you already checked for the more obvious options in this regard, the easiest way to deal with this might be to go back to a Windows system restore point from before the issue started to occur and go from there. With a bit of luck one is still present.

This has been a bit frustrating.

I’ve only recently gotten VorpX to update and I’ve updated to 0.8 Runtime (the lack of extended desktop mode annoys me), but to the point. No games work.

The one’s I have tried specifically are GTA V and Fallout 4. But even games like Space Engineers doesn’t work, I get a black screen, headtracking light and the sounds of the menu in the background. GTA V and Fallout 4 crash immediately upon opening.

I verified my GTA V game files to have all of my OpenIV mods removed and still to no avail.

    Here are things I’ve tried:

    Reinstalling Oculus Runtime
    Reinstalling VorpX
    Verifying game cache
    Removing ALL mods/ENB/ReShade/SweetFX files
    Disabling AV/Uninstalling AV
    Restarting PC after every update
Making sure Windows Update is up to date
Running the bare minimum processes – no media player, Chrome etc. basically just background tasks, the game, oculusconfig and VorpX

Sometimes game’s do start up and I’ll get to the intro, where it’ll be sound for about 3 seconds, then it crashes and says it’s stopped responding. That’s it.

If anyone has had similar problems and knows the workaround I would love to hear it, because I’m sitting on a $600 paperweight at this point.

Space Engineers seems to have some probelems since a patch some time ago. Someone just yesterday reported success with disabling the Steam overlay, so that may be worth a try. Steam itself is not an issue, of course.

Please do not run vorpX as admin unless you also run games as admin. Normally that should not be required and can cause more harm than good.

If more games fail in a similar manner, there almost certainly is something on your machine conflicting with vorpX. Not all such case are obvious. Please double check for any chat/messanger program for example. Many of them hook into games.

When VorpX is running, every game i try to start crashes. No exceptions.
As far as i can tell the crash happens always when the game initializes the graphics.

Here’s an example of the eventlog entry. All refer to the same faulting module.

    VorpX 0.9

I have no virusscanners, DX-hooks of any sort or other programs running as described in the “Basic Trouble Shooting – Please Read This First!” post.
Unless you count steam, but that’s a mandatory program.

I’ve tried uninstall and reinstall of VorpX and running as an admin.

I’m open for any serious suggestions.

    hello,

i am running windows 7 x64 with oculus runtime 0.5.0.1
    hd radeon R9 270x
    16 gigs ram
    amd 6100 6 core processor 3.3 GHz

i am trying to run space engineers and i know my oculus works, the test worked just fine and i ran a few games with it just fine. i tried the troubleshooting steps as well as advice from the forums, but when i run it this is what happens

    1. the screen flickers back and forth on my oculus and monitor then it pauses
    2. the game displays on my oculus with the message “vorpx init failed. vorpx will not start correctly, check the cables.. etc etc”
3 i press “ok” then the game works on the oculus as far as the vorpx message letting me know about the FOV and the shortcuts work as well, i can press the middle mouse button to show the full screen for menu use but the headtracking does not work.

i am not sure what to do, i have tried all different ways from the first setting my oculus to main display, to setting it as the secondary and changing the setting in vorpx config, unplugging and plugging everything back in, different ports, restarted multiple times, reinstalled, and still get the same thing no matter what i do. any help would be great

Bad news my friend. I was very much looking forward to 0.9 with DK2 runtime 0.7 for SE but no joy. It crashes on start-up…

    Hello Gentlemen,

Was really looking forward to Space Engineers with 0.9. Unfortunately, it crashes on start-up. No way to play it with VorpX and the DK2.

I just tried vorpx out with Space Engineers, and while it did create a certain amount of immersion, it’s essentially unplayable since you cannot see any of the HUD/controls and the graphics seem a bit messed up (I found elsewhere someone posted that shadows weren’t displaying correctly and that seems to be what I am experiencing as well).

Moving on to portal, vorpx doesn’t seem to do anything. Portal is listed as a supported game, what do I have to do to realize this support?
