Just in case you didn’t see my reply in the release thread:
Your issues sound as if you are using Virtual Desktop together with vorpX. Don’t. Really, just don’t!
Exit the VD Streamer on your PC. Set your headset type to ‘Meta Quest Link’ in the vorpX config app and enjoy vorpX like intended. Will feel like upgrading a 10 year old PC to something recent. Prefer wired Link for the best exprience. VD might work well in other cases, but with vorpX it produces performance issues, micro stutter and lag/latency even on fast WiFi that are beyond bad.

Is the game running at the same resolution in both cases?
I’m asking because a recent Windows 11 update seems to have broken vorpX’s fast capture method for (rare) 64-bit DX9 games (only Outlast and Crysis as far as supported games are concerned). At high resolutions that leads to a severe FPS drop. Might be the actual cause of your problem if you run the game with higher resolutions on the virtual monitor than on your actual monitor.
Unless MS changed something fundamental, I should be able to address that for the next maintenance update.
With OpenXR API mode, when I using VorpX Desktop Viewer with Immersive / Cinema modes, and Tracking prediction is ON – then virtual display has some weird wobbling / shaking effect when I move my head (it’s not related with Headtracking), like micro-lag in-between my head move and actual screen position adjusting.
If I set Tracking prediction OFF – all looks fine.
With SteamVR API I have no such issue.
No matter Tracking prediction ON/OFF – all looks fine in any way.
And another two bugs:
1) If I using OpenXR API, then my Quest 3 controllers appears upside down virtually in VorpX.
The only correct position for controllers is when I use SteamVR API with VorpX.
2) But SteamVR with VorpX breaks and stop responding.
For example, if I start VorpX desktop viewer in SteamVR mode, it starts, but SteamVR window itself may become invisible (it appears only on taskbar and stop respondng if I try to open it).
If, sometimes, SteamVR starts correctly when I launching VorpX Desktop Viewer, then if I start any game with Vorpx injection – SteamVR window itself is often breaks, it becomes black and also stop responding.
Yes, I tested it again, and it’s definitely related with VorpX Virtual Monitor status before the game launch.
If I first start VorpX Desktop Viewer and enable VorpX Virtual Monitor, and then launch a game with VorpX injection, the game suffers from severe FPS drops every few seconds (from a stable 80fps down to 70fps, and sometimes even to 35–45fps), along with flickering in the right eye, making it stuttery and unplayable — despite my PC having plenty of performance headroom.
However, if I launch the game with VorpX Desktop Viewer but with VorpX Virtual Monitor disabled, and let VorpX inject on game startup in the same way, performance is smooth and stable (e.g., ~80fps in Outlast).
Visually, the injection and startup look the same, but if VorpX Virtual Monitor was active before starting the game, the game will stutter.
If VorpX Virtual Monitor was disabled before game start, the game will run smoothly.
Hi, I encountered a strange behavior with VorpX Desktop Viewer + VorpX Virtual Monitor.
If I first start VorpX Desktop Viewer and enable VorpX Virtual Monitor, and then launch a game with VorpX injection (Outlast as an example), the game suffers from severe FPS drops every few seconds (from a stable 80fps down to 70fps, and sometimes even to 35–45fps), along with flickering in the right eye, making it stuttery and unplayable — despite my PC having plenty of performance headroom.

Bug Report: Severe FPS drops when using VorpX Desktop Viewer
My biggest problem with that is it completely deactivates my keyboard and gamepad. I’m not sure if there’s something I’m doing wrong, but even if I try to click on the window looking at my computer monitor rather than looking at the VR, keyboard presses don’t do anything. And it says RT or right trigger to cycle through the tabs and none of the buttons on my vr, gamepad, or keyboard actually cycle through anything. Then I tried desktop viewer last night and I got desktop viewer to do the full VR mode that I wanted and was excited I might have figured it out but it completely disabled my desktop monitor and I wasn’t able to use task manager to shut anything down nor was able to use the Windows key to shut anything down so I had to physically shut my computer down to exit desktop viewer. Again, it could just be something I’m doing wrong, but I might just have to wait until the next update to see if it’ll work then. Because aside from being able to press delete to get the menu to pop up, I can’t use Edge peak, and I can’t use any other device to bring up the menu. I do appreciate all of the assistance with this, and thank you guys for telling me that is the new home room and is the default place I will be going from now on.
The “vr man” with question mark is the ‘new’ start room — there to display necessary hints pertaining to the profile you are launching. If it’s the first time launching that particular profile, it asks you to arrow through a page or two of brief instruction, followed by an E press to confirm. Subsequent launches only ask for an E press to confirm and continue.
So try pressing the right arrow key a few times (bottom of keyboard), followed by E key to progress past the start room.
An option to turn off the start room for subsequent launches might be appreciated by daily users, but I do understand how it is helpful and necessary for new users and new profiles.
I used to be able to play Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 in full VR mode using a meta Quest 2, virtual desktop, and running it as open XR. Now for whatever reason anytime I try to run a game it says open XR creation instance failed. So I’ve tried other methods like steamvr or running the meta Quest link runtime and what that does is brings me into a space like when loading into steamvr. Then it shows a man with a VR headset on and a question mark and the game window is very small on the bottom left. I’ve tried disabling a bunch of different overlays, turning off and on Hags, checking antivirus and everything. I’ve been having this issue for about a month or two now. But I had vorpex for almost a year prior to this issue and was able to play all of my games with no problems. If I could get any insight as to what’s causing this or what I’m doing wrong I would appreciate it!
Setup:
Headset: Meta Quest 3
PC: i5-11400f, rtx4070ti S, 16gb ram, Win11 24H2
Streaming: Virtual Desktop VDXR
Game Example: Outlast
VorpX v25.1.2
Issue:
When connected to my PC via VD and launching a game with VorpX injecting on startup, performance is smooth and stable (e.g., ~80fps in Outlast).
However, if I first start VorpX Desktop Viewer and then launch the game with VorpX injection, the game suffers from severe FPS drops every few seconds (down to 35–45fps), making it stuttery and unplayable.
Expected:
Performance should remain the same regardless of whether VorpX Desktop Viewer is launched before the game or not.
Hi!
I am running the original Pimax Crystal headset and I’ve noticed that only the PimaxPlay version 1.40.1 or earlier works like it should with Vorpx. I tried the latest update, nothing shows up on the HMD, no Virtual Desktop, no game, just the Pimax star background image, so I rolled back to 1.40.1 (you can find the installer for 1.40.1 if you google it).
Hello dear Ralf and VorpX Team.
I have a core issue with vorpx:
virtual monitor is not enabled by default when i put on headset and i cannot enable it manually. Just nothing happens. That means desktop viewer is not working also.
I was able to see virtual monitor only once after installation of fresh Vorpx. (i did try 24 and 25 latest versions). After fresh installation the screen was flickering, but i was able to see extra monitor in steam VR, so i successfully turn off my real screen. After reboot, however, no virtual monitor and i cannot enable it. (when i click on button enable virtual monitor – nothing happens).
I have next specs: RTX4080, Pimax Crystal Light, Samsung Odyssey G8 (120Hz mode, 10bit, HDR on), latest Nvidia drivers, Windows 11 Pro, no AV installed.
Can you please help to troubleshoot issue? Can it be Nvidia drivers or settings? (i also sent troubleshooting info from vorpx to your support email)
Sorry to revive this old thread but This was my favorite game to play with Vorpx in VR. I hadn’t played it for a few months until a few days ago. Played a few rounds and it worked perfect. Next day started computer and Vorpx did an update and now it doesn’t work anymore. I’ve tried every option, I tried re-moving and re-installing Vorpx and FH2 and still the same. updated video drivers (radeon 580) Tried every 3d setting. Always the same. The game starts and the menu system works and looks great. When you load a mission it crashes to desktop before it starts. no error messages.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
The reason for wanting custom resolutions for the virtual monitor is, that you cannot always configure the resolution through the games .ini \ .cfg files or whatever, so you are left with what ever resolution you can create through the Vorpx configuration tool. Sometimes with different games I need strange resolutions like 3000×2880 or something like that to have the best image. Sometimes 4:3 or 1:1 resolutions introduce warping or something like that to the perspective, sometimes the image is too zoomed in (and if one cannot configure the FOV, fiddling with the resolution is the only way) and sometimes you get other problems (black bars on top and bottom of the image with 1:1 resolution, 4:3 is too zoomed in and the perspective does the warping thingy). My problem is mostly that I can create some strange resolutions through Nvidia Control Panel, but probably because of my monitor (and I’d rather use the virtual desktop and virtual monitor always anyway) I can’t go higher that certain resolution (the aforementioned 3000×2880). So, I think there are good uses for this functionality, maybe it is just me with my Pimax setup, but I tend to need those finely tuned resolutions from time to time depending on the game I am trying to run through Vorpx.
