Congo1986Participant
Can’t you just press del key and switch it in game? I do it all the time.
Congo1986ParticipantIf you find out Laza, please let us know!!!
Congo1986ParticipantI’ve heard from Ralf that the CV1 is a little smoother. To add to that though, I have the Vive and it seems great to me.
Congo1986ParticipantSo far the game I have thought worked really great, with a good 3D effect and acceptable framerate and usability:
Skyrim
Morrowind
STALKER games
Farcry 3
Fallout 4Ive found that I am most comfortable in the virtual cinema, with the screen as close as possible, with headtracking enabled. It still feels like Im in VR, and I can always look down and check the HUD easily. I usually completely forget that I am in the cinema, and it works great for keyboard and mouse use. All of my experience is basically directed at this type of use. Here are some other games I have tried that Ive enjoyed, but have some minor drawbacks from my testing:
Outlast: This game works great, but I find that Geometry mode creates weird shadow issues, and on other 3D settings there are some minor graphical issues. Its not bad, and totally playable. on z3D modes, it seems like there could be a little more depth with the 3D slider.
Oblivion: Slow on G3D, Z3D modes dont seem to give quite enough depth that I would like. Game still looks great, and is very playable.
Portal 2: Something just does not look right in this game. Im not sure what it is, but it looked very very wrong when I tried it. I might try it again, but the first experience really put me off.I may have forgotten some games that I have tried. So far I have been very impressed with VorpX!
Congo1986ParticipantSo it’s 2D only right now?
Congo1986ParticipantNo. I really really want to play Rust in VR, even if it’s just in the Cinema with head tracking and 3D. I wish I could find a profile that works. Usually every profile I try makes the game start on the monitor instead of the headset, and then instantly crash. If I launch it without a profile using the VR Desktop icon, I can play Rust in the virtual cinema, but there is no 3D, and it stutters badly, even with the absolute lowest graphical settings and resolution. Even if I get a GTX 1080 when it comes out, I imagine it will still run like this. For reference I have a gtx970, i76700k, and 16gb of ram. I fear this game may not be playable for some time in VR, if at all :(. Rust has been pretty much my favorite game for almost 2 years now, I really really wish I could experience it in VR and in 3D.
Oh, and by the way, When I got it running in the cinema, I was able to press del and enter into full VR mode with head tracking. It was just 2D, and just a little bit too much stuttering (combined with 800×600 resolution and every option set to zero or turned off.)
Congo1986ParticipantGot STALKER working on the Vive, for anyone else having Issues. Once again, a fairly simple fix, though maybe not super obvious. All you have to do is run VorpX in administrator mode. Works a charm.
Congo1986ParticipantFrom EAC in regard to an email I sent them asking this very question:
“EAC only blocks certain applications from working. Bans are places only from cheating meaning that there needs to be a definite cheat program (aimbot, wallhack etc.) loaded into game memory.”
Congo1986ParticipantFor games that use Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) for cheating support, it looks like VorpX should be okay. Just got an email back from them, as follows:
“EAC only blocks certain applications from working. Bans are places only from cheating meaning that there needs to be a definite cheat program (aimbot, wallhack etc.) loaded into game memory.”
Congo1986ParticipantThats pretty much the reply I expect to hear from EAC. I may set up another Steam account just for Rust if I can get it working, to protect my main account from a ban.
Congo1986ParticipantYea, its the Steam Version of both games. When I start them, whether I start them from Steam or their executable, they just launch on the flat screen and not the HMD. This is using the HTC Vive. If you have any other advice for me to get them to work besides changing to DX9 in the options, please let me know. STALKER games are some of my absolute most favorite games. I would love to experience them in VR.
Congo1986ParticipantIve been wondering this myself. I am scared to death to try and use it with Rust. I have a bunch of skins on my account, and hundreds of hours of playtime. I actually emailed EAC, who handles cheat detection, just to ask. So far no response, but it is the weekend. I hope I get an answer of some sort, instead of a vague “it might”.
Congo1986ParticipantNo dice so far on the Stalker games. Went into setting, changed to DX 9, and also messed around with a lot of other settings. The games start on the monitor and never in the headset. SteamVR is on as well, and I have also tried with it off. Also tried starting straight from the exe. Also imported a cloud version of the profile. I’ve tried both call of Pripyat, and Lost Alpha. Let me know if there is something else I’m missing!
Congo1986ParticipantThanks Ralf! Once again, so simple that I feel stupid for asking afterwards. Will be playing around with this quite a bit to see if I can get Rust working.
Congo1986ParticipantThanks Ralf! I will also give this a shot again tonight, along with your tips on STALKER
