Nice! Tried one of my all-time favorites…Simpsons Hit&Run. Some HUD issues, but the 3d representation of Springfield is really, really cool! Now, if only we can upscale the resolution…. :)

    Thanks, Ralf. Yup…did the trick.

Dborosev, funny…you know, we’re quickly approaching 47.2 which, supposedly, is the least happy age of our lives. Hang in there, bro! Once we get past that hump, perhaps we’ll see new games in a not-so-jaded light….

As another aside, tried to get Doom 2016 working with Geometry using existing profiles but, alas, it doesn’t seem to be working. Maybe I should try Doom 3 again with that awesome VR mod….just feel like I need some brainless game with a focus on fun (as opposed to deep lore, deep crafting, deep herb gathering, etc…) to set me straight again!

Yeah, I’ve been really struggling lately to get motivated to play any game (vorpx, native VR, or pancake). I think it relates more to me than the state of games but, regardless, it’s frustrating. I get so excited to try a brand new game in my backlog, but after 30-40 minutes, I’m feeling bored and tired….I worry I’m just getting lazy to learn something new (i.e. new controls, new UI, new lore, etc.). So, this is my own personal rant, and maybe my age of 46 has caught up with me. I’m thinking of maybe switching my comfort genre completely and doing something I haven’t done in years (like going back to an old adrenaline action game like Doom). Anyway, while you wait for your meaty game, perhaps you could try something completely different and out of your current comfort genre.

As an aside, I tried vorpx this morning, but every time I try to launch a game in Steam, it forces me to restart Steam with some “update”. Without vorpx, games launch fine, but with vorpx, every launch attempt is greeted with the forced to restart Steam with some “update”.

I have a Reverb but have not seen the Vive Pro (have an original vive). As much as I love my Reverb, you may be disappointed with the vibrancy of the colors vs the pro (from what I hear). I did get the Reverb for vorpx (and Netflix) because of the resolution bump and increased comfort, but you get halfway there with the pro with the benefit of rich colors. If you go to Reverb, for vr titles, you lose the sbility for wireless and playing in the dark with perfect tracking. I can’t tell you what to do, but I personally would be hesitant because not sure the change will knock your socks off (but from the original vive without the DAS, it was a no-brained for me). Hopefully, someone with a pro and a Reverb can chime in. Sorry if this was useless commentary…

Some recent info on this (it’s a thread on reddit concerning some latest developments)…

Nvidia Control Panel (I see it when right clicking on desktop) ==> In Display/Change Resolution, select Customize ==> Create Custom Resolution ==> *Follow Screen Prompts*

Tried 3200×2880 and does look good. Getting some flicker issues unfortunately (everything off/low except High Textures), so I think that resolution may be beyond my PC’s capabilities.

My big issue is loading time….when not in vorpx, game loads in 20-30 seconds, but in vorpx, man, game takes 3-5 minutes to load. Very weird.

Perhaps it’s just me, but does it seem like RDR2 takes like 2-4 times to load if vorpx is injecting? Not sure it’s related to screen focus issues. Otherwise, no issues at all (playing in 3rd person cinema).

Hi all…is this the right thread to post RDR2 related questions? Someone should tell me to get lost to another forum if this needs to be in some technical support…

On to question…playing RDR2 vorpx with xbox controller. Problem is, holding down the menu button (to get to cinematic camera) opens the damn steam vr overlay. What’s more maddening is that it doesn’t seem like the controller can close the damn steam vr overlay.

One solution is to go into SteamVR settings and, in Developer tab, disable Steam VR overlay, but this overlay is actually quite handy when playing games with VR controllers, and I really don’t want to have to keep toggling this setting between RDR2 (or any vorpx game played with xbox controlloer) and native VR game. Anyone have a thought or solution? Many thanks!

Doubt it’s related to vorpx, but who knows. There is a lot of internet chatter about this stuttering with the theory being that RDR2 is pushing the CPU too hard. No idea if this is the case, but you can read more about it here :https://www.pcgamer.com/red-dead-redemption-2-stuttering-fix/

My problem is trying to get more fps. Despite the “internet” saying textures don’t make a huge difference, I found going from ultra to high really seemed to smooth things out for me in vorpx, but could be my imagination.

dellrifter22, thanks so much for doing this.

Yes, I’m a fellow Reverber. In fact, a huge factor in my getting the Reverb was for its use with vorpx, especially given the dearth of AAA VR titles. In vorpx, there’s enough hours of AAA gaming to last 5 lifetimes. Ralf, HP really should give you a kickback…

Have a 2070 Super and run all my vorpx games at 3840×2160 which thankfully matches my 4k TV resolution. Still fiddling with the RDR2 settings to eke out the highest fps and hoping Rockstar throws out a performance patch in the near future.

    See you in Wild West!

    Congrats, dborosev!!!

Honestly, I think I’m one of the lucky ones as I really didn’t have any trouble getting it to work. Couple of things worth pointing out:

    1) in RDR2, I changed from Vulcan to DX12
    2) I own game through Rockstar itself (not Epic)
    3) There is flickering during loading screens (those old pics that fade), but none in-game
    4) In Reverb at 4k, can get about 30-40 fps running benchmarks at the low-balanced level of settings.
    5) Agree…looks really good in vorpx. Just need to figure out what settings to dial-back to increase fps.

Awesome, Ralf! Thank you, thank you, and thank you.

Just tried it quickly, and I think the 3d effect is really good and performance is still pretty rock solid. Now just have to play with the right graphics settings to get a silky smooth fps (I refuse to play on anything less than 4k since using Reverb…my curse, I suppose).

    Great job!

Not sure how useful this is, but I’ve been trying to get vorpx desktop viewer working in RDR2. This is what I found:

If I launch vorpx viewer and then RDR2, get the “exited unexpectedly” error.

If I launch RDR2, alt-Tab out to launch vorpx viewer, it works. Can play in headset on giant immersive screen (had settings as low as possible and was still a bit laggy).

So, I’m guessing that vorpx trips up the error thought to be caused by anti-virus software or something.

    Hahah!

There’s a few different types of communication… the unrealistically ambitious (i.e. kickstarter’s vaporware), the honest (our Ralf!), the padder (Scotty), and the silence (Valve).

Good stuff! Now back to tapping F5… :)
