Okay I know no one else seems to care about my precious post, lol. But in case someone from Vorpx out there is reading. I have one more request.

I’d like to be able to set the zoom out value of the edge peak if possible. I find in skyrim that all the large amounts of time spent reading inventory and managing it cause me eye strain after playing for about 3-4 hours. When reading my inventory I feel the text is way too close to my eyes and it starts to cause massive eye headache. If I could zoom out more it’d be appreciated.

Also, I am using a gamepad so I don’t have access to the mouse wheel up or down.

I get random skyrim crashes in the intro too. For me it gets really choppy and then crashes. I’m assuming my 560 ti is not strong enough for skyrim. So I am in the market for a 980 soon. That being said, once I got past the intro I was able to play fine in the one area I’ve been testing in. I haven’t played past that yet so I have yet to see if this is just an intro problem. My recommendation, play past the intro on your monitor or in Z-Buffer, save, then switch back to geo 3d mode if that’s what you’re using. Hope that helps a little, I’ll tell you soon enough if I still have issues as I’m ready to actually play when I have time.

I am also getting both of these issues. First off, for me the vorpx settings menu randomly goes into this inaccessible state where when I press the del key, the screen slightly begins to edge peak (just before the menu would normal pop up) and then resets back to gameplay. I press it again and it subtle edge peaks and goes back to the gameplay. I can’t seem to figure out what causes this as it just randomly starts. Mainly after a scene change or as soon as I load my game. Any ideas on how I can fix this other than rebooting VorpX every time it happens?

Secondly, Portal 2 loads, plays the valve portal ominous intro music and then crashes. It gets stuck on the load after the above mentioned intro. Which is weird because it was working decent, I quit out to set up my mouse, and when I came back it wouldn’t load anymore. Like it broke lol. Any ideas of that also? Thanks for everything. :)

I dunno man. Skyrim in geometry 3d looks pretty eye popping awesome to me! In the opening scene when you first encounter the dragon and it is attacking you, when it snaps its teeth at you it definitely comes at my face seemingly. That and the depth far is still good. I use FOV 120 and have adjuster the IPD to match my eyes. Maybe that is also a setting you should try out. Your eyes might be closer together or further apart from the “average” that oculus defaults to. Try playing around with that setting a little and with FOV it might help greatly. :)

Thank you both for the in depth answers, that certainly helped me a bunch! :) My goal is to be able to play VorpX injected games in geometry mode as it is mind blowingly awesome! I think Z-Buffer 3d looks good too, but once you see geometry mode pop, it’s hard to settle for less if you can afford the hardware upgrade costs.

That being said. Ralph, one of the things I found in Z-Buffer 3D mode is that the depth could not be set higher than 2.0 and it wasn’t high enough for me, personally. I was wondering if it will allow a higher setting in future updates? Also perhaps some convergence settings? (Unless the IPD is the same thing) I come from the world of Nvidia 3D tv play and I am one to always fine tune the depth and convergence of my 3d. That might help me more with the Z-Buffer enjoyment. If it’s even possible to do with the way Z-Buffer works. :)

Anyway, I am either going to get a 780 Ti when the price drops or perhaps one of the new series Nvidia cards depending on the Price. Much love to VorpX, keep on amazing. . . :)

I understand. I will only report bugs with a completely Vanilla install of any game I play while following all of your recommendations. Which is why I mentioned this one as I wanted to turn off Nvidia 3d vision but it made Skyrim unplayable lol. So now I can follow the guide properly. Thank you for your help. I will disable Ambient Occlusion and turn of Nvidia 3d vision before I attempt to post any concerns. :)

Okay so I just tried this and it is true that it was caused by ambient occlusion. That being said, would it then make sense to enable Nvidia 3d vision the way I said above if someone wanted to have ambient occlusion while playing? The frame rates didn’t change much for me as that’s the only other issue I’m having with skyrim in geometry 3d for now. Is there any other glitches happening related to having Nvidia 3d vision on?

IMPORTANT. The shadow issue I was referring to in my reply was the one the continues regardless of ANY bDeferredShadows edits. I tried 1 and 0 and neither fixed the shadow flicker. It was nvidia 3d enable that did it for me. I forgot to clarify that lol

    Ralph,

First of all. Just bought Vorpx. Awesome work! I’m looking forward to everything coming from you guys in the future! I’m blown away so far and expect this will continue. :)

This all being said, I also had this shadow flicker issue in Skyrim and what fixed it for me was to actually ENABLE nvidia 3d vision in their control panel and just make sure it’s off in the game (but still enabled). It stops the flicker immediately and once it’s no longer enabled in the control panel, the shadows start flickering again. This also happened with Vireo Perception. So whatever is causing this is universal it seems. There are those out there who are trying everything with no avail. The solution I found is to turn on nvidia 3d vision and make sure to hit “apply”. Once the game starts if you need to, turn off the 3d with the Nvidia shortcut “ctr + T”.

Ralph, again this is MILES ahead of Perception and well worth the money. I’m very happy with your teams work and am looking forward to much more from you guys in the future! Thanks for helping us all enjoy our oculus substantially more than expected!! :)

Note : I have a DK2 so perhaps this specific shadow flicker issue is DK2 specific. Never had the DK1 so can’t say it happens with it.
