RJK_ParticipantVery strange, yesterday i went to buy a playseat. I tested it in front of a small, flat 22″ monitor. No VR ! and i became motion sick. How ist this possible ? The only reason i can imagine is after beeing a real diver for years the brain expects something totally different sitting behind a stearing. :-(

I ve tried the options you have mentioned. There is a look around option with two keyboard keys i can route to a controller number but couldnt manage the vorpx ingame settings (controller). They are not very self explaining (for me).
I finally (was not perfect, but at least i was able to move my head without moving the whole cokpit with it) by swithing over to cinema mode and pulling the screen a little closer. (i think i used screen offset set to -1.0).
Not close enough, the slider was pulled all to the left, a thick black border was still seen. For such cases a lower value of may be -2.0 would be good. But the slider doesnt go so far down.
If anyone manages to use “Opentrack” please report here.
BTW: Ralf please dont remove any options in futher versions, i cant have enough of them, may be rather explain them extensively ;-)
RJK_Participant300 and up Euros for an I7 at the moment here in germany. I think i wait for a few versions of VorpX futher before spending that ;-)
I think ill first try some “weaker” games which ill do anyway because i have so many of them and keep Fallout 4 for later.
Maybe ill throw my VR glasses in the bin one day when i dont soon get used to that serious motion sicknes i am experiencing. So ill wait a bit in any case.
Anyway, thanks i appreciate your advice.
RJK_ParticipantConcerning “Users Manual”,
I agree most people probably wont read it. But at least a good discription of each option shoul be availiable somewhere. This Button does this, that button is for soemthing else. It is (for me) not clear what some seetings really effect. (i am not english origin). Though, i cant have enough setings to play with ;-)
I myself use a manual only when not understanding what ButtonXY does. But if no explanation is availiable adjustments can easily ruin a day ;-)
RJK_ParticipantIntersting info, thanks Ralf. I i am using a 3,7 ghz dual core with HT. I purchased this one because of serious overclocking abilities. (6 Ghz *lol).
Didnt know last year that i was going to run into VR so soon.I thought HT wasnt so good for a gaming PC, at least thats what some forums say.

…Regarding CPU-affinity: Since vorpX runs inside the games, it’s main work is done within a game’s main render thread, so nothing you could manually assign to a different core here….
I assume when using for example an older game running on one Core + an i3 dual core (Skylake) with 3,7 Ghz against an i5 3,7Ghz (Skylake) would not make any difference because VorpX runs on that single core (thread) only (is this correct?).
So overclocking the i3 would make more sence then buing an i5 with 3,7 Ghz or higher because its cheaper in this case. Am i right here ?

RJK_ParticipantThanks for the infos Ralf, ill try that.
With a a good users manual many questions might become obselete ;-)

RJK_ParticipantI am getting more and more disappointed with vorpx. I have a huge game collection, may be 100 racing games among 1500 others, bought myself today a complete driving set (with chair and everything) and dont get any of the games to work in 3D properly. (ok, havend tried them all yet).
Messed around with some rfactor profiles on BMW M3 Challenge with no success. Nice 3D view, but couldnt get the headtracking to work, the whole cokpit was moving when moving my head like in a shooter.
Does anyone have advice of which settings to manipulate or profiles to try so i can move my head freely from side to side ? This might be a main issue with racing games.
RJK_ParticipantI think i must clear up some misunderstandings.
Almost any DX9/DX10/DX11 game can be played with 3D-Vision, exept those who have a 2D environment like many adventures.
Helixmod does NOT make games playable. Its a modding tool which is able to fix faulty shaders or objects in DX9 games which can already be played with 3D-Vision.
There are other tools like DGVoodoo http://dege.freeweb.hu which wraps older DX versions (DX8 and lower) to DX11. These games usually can then (wrapped) be used with 3D-Vision. There are also tools like http://3dsurroundgaming.com/OGL3DVision.html making OpenGL games playable with 3D Vision.
I think a great feature of VorpX would be allowing wrappers taking effect before itself hooks into the game. See also https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/wish-list-of-games/page/35/#post-166759
RJ
RJK_Participant…t would be amazing if we could somehow use 3D vision in the Vorpx Desktop mode.
Why desktop mode ? Better wrapped to full 360 Degrees ;-)
RJK_ParticipantWhat would really be helpful w/ your search engine would be to be able to search a game and see if it comes up in any of your listings.
Are you talking about the megalist.interkohl.com ? This site is quite new and doenst contain much more but the games names, release date, steam yes or no. – The engine search http://megalist.interkohl.com/engines/vorp_check.php was quickly put together using the games which vorpx officially supports and is not finished yet. It will take a while to complete the database with engines. But youre right, a simple search form could be helpful. BTW: any additional lists of games and engines are highly welcome. send em to: megalist/at/interkohl.com
…. You don’t change or mess w/ the actual .exe itself or rename it.. you just trick vorpx into applying existing working settings for another game to that game….
Please make a shot test: Rename any file into “game.exe”. Then point with your copied profile onto the exe and see if you get an error message.
RJK_ParticipantCan someone tell what FPS has physically has to do with motion sickness ? I have started (ok, not the best game to start off) with HARD RESET. Motion sickness came up only when i started moving fast, especially sideways. When standing tall and stoped running i noticed my body shaking back and forward to compensate the sudden stop of the body. But there was nothing to compansate. That was weird. In my eyes the sickness simply is a matter of movements which the brain cant cope with. I havent noticed any flickering or so during that.
RJK_ParticipantMotion sickness is definately game specific. (in my opinion). In a game where you move fast and/or the position/speed of your head is too low,too high the brain gets easily confused when moving around in the game.
I think you should test a specific game in 3D ( i wonder how you did that ) without vorpx and then with vorpx to see if you run into motion sickness or not.
RJK_ParticipantThanks for answering,
I exactly did that. Btw: I wrote an engine ckecker which anyone can use. ( http://megalist.interkohl.com/engines/vorp_check.php ) .
Vorpx has really a lot of options in its ingame menu which i like, but to be honest without a good manual the user can be easily confused.
Where i come up with a qnother major question: Is it possible at all for a user to make an “unknown” game work or is that only possible through the programmer of vorpx by make any hidden settings ?
Then i found a small bug, because of city interactive games very often name their exicutables “game.exe” vorpx gave an error message like “game.exe cant be used because it is used be xyz. I renamed the exe to soemthing else but then the games asks for “game.exe”. Only a renamed copy made the game work. (dont know if that is good).
RJ
RJK_ParticipantHallo, i have a similar question,
What if the site goes down because of sudden death of the dev. AND my PC crashes 5 weeks after that ?
i guess we would not be able to use the software anymore in such a case. Is a backup somewhow possible ?
