ParticipantI don’t know about Apache:AA, but your best bet by far for Oculus action in a helicopter is DCS: Black Shark (or Huey, if you lean that way). It can be dialed down to be pretty game-ish, but it already works with current Oculus headsets. The only downside is the horsepower required to run it, and the res makes it hard to read a HUD or small dials. It’s still pretty excellent.
I imagine EECH will eventually be modded for Oculus, but it’s getting pretty dated.Thilus
ParticipantI performed a full reinstall of Windows 8 (for unrelated reasons) and this actually fixed the hooking problems I was having, in case anyone with similar issues wonders about that.
VorpX actually works quite well with Shadow, combined with the FOV fix. The controls, however, are a bit of a bear. The default mouselook headtracking doesn’t play nice with a gamepad, and using “internal gamepad” causes other problems.
Being able to snipe a group of orks with head-aiming is sweet, but not quite worth the other control issues, especially considering how prompt-heavy this game is. Still, this is much better than Assassin’s Creed with VorpX, and definitely on the Playable side. Thanks Ralf! ^_^Thilus
ParticipantGah, forum lost my reply somehow. Anyway, I found it!
Disabling my Intel HD Graphics 4000 in Device Manager solved the problem. I forgot I even had an integrated chipset in this machine, but apparently it was causing a problem. Disabled, and now I can get to work seeing if i can make DXHR pretty ^_^

ParticipantI have the same problem here. Not sure if it’s actually causing any problems exactly, but every time I run a game I’m at the default settings. Specifically, I’m trying to make gamepad emulation work, and that’s a setting that theoretically could be a problem if it’s not running by the time the game searches for control devices. Running VorpX as Administrator didn’t seem to change anything.

ParticipantAny chance you could send a screenshot of your settings for that, or explain in more detail how you got there? Because getting VorpX to emulate the right analog stick on my Xbox controller is exactly what I’m trying to do, and I’ve had no success so far.
And yes, I restart the game pretty much constasntly =PThilus
ParticipantThat final step is the problem… no game I’ve tried so far has acknowledged a ‘rift-gamepad-axis’ . I don’t see any evidence that the headset is outputting any controller device.
Since many games will also only recognize a gamepad that is plugged in when the game is started, I don’t see how to make this work.Thilus
ParticipantYes, it’s the retail Steam version. I grew up awhile ago, if I steal a game i don’t complain about it ;)
Rift as extended display, Windows 8.1
I’ve gotten quite a few games working on the rift at this point, but nothing has solved DXHR+VorpX yet. I tried setting the Rift as my main display (which fixed Assassin’s Creed and a few other games on the list), no difference.
I should note that I can make the game run in normal mode, forced to the rift’s display, but of course the image is garbled and useless without VorpX.The only similar behavior I have seen is in HL2VR. I can run it (and it runs wonderfully), but if I change the FOV scale in the game it immediately crashes to desktop, and if I attempt to run it again I just get a loading icon for a second and then nothing, just like DXHR. Deleting the config file for HL2VR fixes the problem. I know the engines aren’t related, but that’s the only faint clue I have so far.

ParticipantAm really looking forward to this one, but every time I try to run it with VorpX turned on, it just instantly crashes, don’t even get a game screen =(
Tried different GFX options and DX 9 and 11, no effect. -
