Tony SpanielsParticipant
Thanks for that Ralf, I’ll check it out :)
Tony SpanielsParticipantYeah fair enough, I agree with you about Fallout 4 being better in z adaptive. Its a better trade off in the end.
Skyrim has taken a noticeable jump in quality now to my eye. The scale never seemed quite right before but now everything sits very well together. Much smoother also.
Tony SpanielsParticipantWorks way better now!
Works better than Fallout 4 now in my opinion.

Thanks!

I have set the graphic settings down to low (when I used Ultra before using 0.8 and it worked fine, certainly the tracking didnt move as it does now) and I still get this. I also of course adjusted the headtracking sensitivity in game using the vorpx config but Its still adding extra headtracking so that my fov moves off center so if I look fully to one side for example, I eventually see the edge of the screen like its in cinema mode. Im also getting issues with GTA V which ran fine before too.
I’ll see if I can get a video uploaded maybe then you’ll understand what Im talking about.
Apr 10, 2016 at 2:59pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100570Tony SpanielsParticipantOk I had a look at the FPS and it was about 29fps with Geometry and 36fps with z adaptive with settings on Ultra, which is the graphics preset that I used with 0.8 before using z adaptive and I was getting a smooth 60-70 fps.
I tried presetting it down to low and I got a slight increase in performance up to 35 fps using G3D and 45fps using adaptive. So something is definitely up for me with 16.1.1.
By the way its not just in pipboy that I get the odd inverted movement. I get that in the loading screen and in the games main menu also. And there is still the problem of the doubled head tracking in normal view mode.I’ll see can I get a video uploaded although Ive not done that before.
Fyi I havean i7-4790K cpu @ 4.000ghz, 32 gigs of RAM and 780ti gpu.
Apr 10, 2016 at 2:39pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100566Tony SpanielsParticipantHey Ralf. Ok but then the screen shouldnt move if there’s no headtracking correct? It definitely moves now and in the opposite direction to where I am looking. Normally pre 16.1.1 I also used edgepeek when I used the pipboy as there was no headtracking then either and it was too close to camera. So I can assure you I know the difference between how it was before and how it is now, trust me :)
Apr 10, 2016 at 2:24pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100563Tony SpanielsParticipantNo I didnt change any settings in vorpx config since the update to 16.1.1, except to use the game optimizer. The weird thing is the headtracking works fine if I go into edge peek mode, its only when I go back out of edge peek that I get issues. And more confusingly if it was a setting then why would it be inverted one way (pip boy view) and correct orientation but doubled values the other way (normal view) ? Doesnt add up.
Also there wasnt this head tracking issue with 0.8. I was using the runtime switcher up until yesterday night, at which point once 16.1.1 dropped I uninstalled it and all the oculus runtimes in a clean wipe, and reinstalled runtime 1.3 so its a fresh install.
Apr 10, 2016 at 2:13pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100560Tony SpanielsParticipantThat’s also taken care of by the optimizer. Sounds like for some reason the settings aren’t applied correctly for whatever reason.
I would highly recomment to use EdgePeek (click mousewheel) mode for the PipBoy BTW. This also solves a glitches with using the PipBoy with the mouse.
The according values in the Fallout4.ini should look like below after applying the Optimizer.
fMouseHeadingXScale=.021
fMouseHeadingYScale=.042Yep,just checked and that’s what the settings are at.
Apr 10, 2016 at 2:11pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100559Tony SpanielsParticipantAh no it cant be, GTA V has the same issue still, after using the game optimizer. Bugger :/
Apr 10, 2016 at 2:01pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100555Tony SpanielsParticipantYes Ive applied the game optimizer and its still the same. Pip boy mode head tracking is reversed, normal view head tracking is doubled.
A thought has just occurred to me ..I remember when I originally set up fallout 4 with vorpx the head tracking in the up and down axis was 50% what it needed to be and I changed some settings in the .ini file iirc. Could this be causing this?
Apr 10, 2016 at 1:54pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100551Tony SpanielsParticipantAnd the head tracking? How is it for you?
Tony SpanielsParticipant…
Now I can get GTA5 to launch on home 1.3, but my look in full vr mode is inverted. It felt like I was emulating xbox stick with my head (inverted and less responsive). I tried to override xbox fully in vorpx menu, but my settings never save through the next restart. Settings restored to default when I start back in.
I also noticed a severe performance hit to my frame rate compared to how i was playing last night using vorpx 0.9 and oculus 0.7.
…
Im getting this inverted head tracking as well in Fallout 4, but oddly its only in the pip boy menu screen. In normal view its not inverted but instead the sensitivity is doubled so if I move my head it tracks it twice as far.
Im getting a performance hit as well but I thought that might be just cos G3D is especially demanding in F4.
Apr 10, 2016 at 12:45pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100544Tony SpanielsParticipantHmm…just checked GTA V and getting the exact same thing. Uh oh..
Apr 10, 2016 at 12:41pm in reply to: [SOLVED] Fallout 4 – Head tracking problem with Vorpx 16.1.1 #100541Tony SpanielsParticipantThanks for the reply Ralf.
Ah I could have been a little more informative in my OP (it was late last night when the update dropped and didnt have a clear head) as the head tracking is on but isnt working in the sense that when I have the pip boy up the head tracking is reversed (I look left camera pans right, I look up and the camera rolls down) and when Im in game in normal view the head tracking isnt reversed its going to right way, but it looks like there’s a doubling of the input and when I look the camera goes twice as far as Im looking.
Ive hada a play around with the settings but I havent found any solution as yet. The cinema view works fine with no head tracking issues whatsoever. The above is also true if I pick z adaptive or adaptive (which were wroking fine when I was using 0.8 before)
