Did you try OpenXR? If in doubt, I’d prefer OpenXR over SteamVR for Oculus headsets. Closer to the metal.
@ mrbrock
Yeah scale being off is probably the biggest downside of Z3D vs. the DirectVR 3D. One other thing you could try is switching to EdgePeek mode while driving, which will be less immersive but more comfortable. Depending on your preferred input method: mouse wheel click, gamepad: right thumbstick click, motion controllers: right grip button click. Or you could even switch the ‘Play Style’ option to ‘Immersive Screen’ or ‘Cinema’. Although I’d do that only as a last resort.

KeymasterJudging from the usual benchmark comparison sites that card appears to be closer to the minimum I checked here (GTX1080/5700XT) than to current highend, so you’ll definetely have to be a bit careful with graphics details. Resolution one notch higher (‘Nicer’) in the vorpX menu than the default and graphics details in the game options at ‘Medium’ sounds it could work out well enough on your GPU.

KeymasterMerry Christmas to you too!
And to everyone else. Have a few relaxed days in these troubled times!
Ralf
KeymasterWhy that? You just have a to be go a bit easy on the graphics settings and it even runs fairly well on mid tier-hardware. With the recommended minimum settings from the start message (game graphics settings at ‘Low’, and resolution in vorpX at ‘Nice’) you’ll largely get 60fps on a GTX1080/5700XT and it doesn’t look too shabby.
And with a newer high end card, you can even make it look really good. If you have an RTX card, I’d recommend to trade raytracing for a higher resolution, although that’s a bit subjective, of course.

KeymasterI uploaded a little update that adds a hood cam for driving. You can change between the normal in-car view and the hood cam with the game’s usual vehicle camera switch button/key. Hopefully without any unwanted side effects. Didn’t test it too long. Anyone annoyed by the overbright colors in cars when driving in bright daylight should definitely grab this.
Also the hood cam is a cool way to drive around anyway.

KeymasterPlease reinstall. The controllers are supposed to function as gamepad, which is also the default setting. Do not change that. There isn’t really any need to tinker with settings aside from finding the right balance between performance and fidelity for your PC.

KeymasterNot really sure about the FPS issue. Stable 60 should feel smooth normally, at least if the second number in the FPS counter also is stable and shows the refresh rate of your headset, usually 90.
Gamepad pitch is reduced to 1/3 of the normal stick sensitivity as a compromise between locking it entirely and having full y-axis movement. Some like it entirely locked, others hate that since occasionally you may need y-axis movement in some games. Here for example when aiming down sights. So it’s always difficult to choose a good default that fits everyone. The reduction to 1/3 is a decent compromise since it makes it hard to inadvertantly change the pitch.

For a Reverb using SteamVR as OpenXR runtime doesn’t really make sense. That will just translate OpenXR to SteamVR calls, better use SteamVR directly in that case, avoids the unnecessary extra translation.
SteamVR as OpenXR runtime only really makes sense for native SteamVr headsets like Vive or Index. For Oculus or WMR headsets it’s always better to use the native OpenXR runtime and skip SteamVR altogehther.
I’ll take a look at the cinema mode mouse glitch, although that probably just stems from the fact that the game runs at a lower frame rate than the headset, but not an at an even fraction. In FullVR mode that gets all factored into the frame interpolation, but in cinema immersive/mode you might want to ensure an even game to headset FPS ratio by capping the FPS to 50% of the headset refreshrate.
@ kia
Awesome, glad you got it sorted.
Ralf
KeymasterUnfortunately I don’t really have an answer to that question. I answer what I can, but sometimes I just don’t have an answer. Try to reinstall the mod and for Oculus headsets make sure Oculus is selected as the headset type. Nothing more specific I can recommend, sorry.
Ralf
KeymasterOK, I had a weird issue one time (and only one time) earlier today where all of sudden a config file for Cyber Engine Tweaks was missing and the game refused to start at all afterwards. Was a bit different than what you described above though, it didn’t even open its window, just crashed without anything happening. Might still be worth to check that. The file in question was ‘[Cyberpunk Folder]\bin\x64\global.ini’. If that file is missing, reinstall the mod.
Ralf
KeymasterNot sure if it was you who had other mods installed, but if so, please try entirely without any other mods. If that helps, add your other mods back one by one to find the offending one.

KeymasterFor your 3080Ti what I wrote above: ‘Resolution Quality’ in the vorpX menu to ‘Great’ (or *maybe* even ‘Phenomenal’), and graphics details in the game options to ‘High’. Should largely suffice for 60fps.
Ralf
KeymasterI don’t really know what to tell you: your GPU barely meets what the start message recommends for ‘Nice’ with ‘Low’ graphics settings in the game’s options menu. Try that and then check whether you get anything better working sufficiently well or not. Keep in mind that you are trying to force the most demanding game available into VR with a mid-tier GPU.
No problem if your friend can’t get OpenXR to work. In earlier vorpX versions SteamVR was significantly worse for WMR headsets, but that’s not really the case anymore.
Ralf
KeymasterIt’s abit difficult to give universally applicable suggestions since I don’t know how important raytracing is for you.
My personal suggestion for 3080Ti would be to set the ‘Resolution Quality’ to the second highest setting in the vorpX menu, and graphics details in the game options to ‘High’, no raytracing, no DLSS. That will get you a super crisp image.
However if you consider raytracing more important than the best possible image crispness, that might not be what you prefer.
Ralf
KeymasterSounds odd. At the same settings/resolutions there shouldn’t actually be any difference performance wise.
Did you maybe change the FPS cap in the mod settings? Leave that at 66%, which would cap at 60fps. Also please leave the the sync option at default for maximum FPS. ‘Favor Latency’ will reduce the framerate.
