Finally i can log-in again, and post my opinion about this. (The forum was broken for a while, and people with deleted cookies couldn’t login again, right?)
Many thanks to Ralf for opening up VorpX for future games with the DX12 implementation. I was sure it will happen at some point when some über-popular game gets released.
No reason to worry about Cyberpunk 2077 anymore, i guess… I’m very excited. For RDR2 as well, but i don’t see finishing The Witcher 3 any time soon in the next two months (after 40 hrs i’m only level 10)… :-D
Jedi Fallen Order
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Cyberpunk 2077
Elder Scrolls 6
(please DX12 mode in the future, for TES sake)
I’m with you dellrifter22, I don’t think I’ve been as excited for a game. Maybe cyberpunk 2077 is tied with this. :)
We’ll have to wait and see. I’m sure whatever can be done will be done, so we can only hope and pray.
Red dead redemption
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 might be the game that gives Ralf the big enough reason he’s been looking for.
Is it in the works at all? From my understanding newer games like Cyberpunk 2077 would be awesome in VR but they might be incompatible with Vorpx due to not being DX11 titles?
Star Citizen and upcomming games Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs 3
Could you post a link to this interview, please?
EDIT: Found it – www hitc com/en-gb/2019/05/24/cd-projekt-red-cyberpunk-2077-vr-support/
You’re right. I just looked up Vulcan compatibility and it turns out that even nVidia 600 series support the API.
Luckily CP2077 will be so crazy popular that in case it doesn’t work out of the box, Ralf will get flooded with requests and will have the justification to invest the time. :)
I’m not opposed to paying for big upgrades either, as long as they’re optional and don’t occur too often (every 3 years is a good compromise IMO).
Ha! I came here to write a new topic with the title “Ralf, are you excited for Cyberpunk 2077?” – but i see, i’m not the first on the hype train. :)
TW3 is my GGOAT (greatest game of all time), and i tried it in Z3D and it works very very well. I figured that since CP2077 uses a new version of the same engine, it should be easy to make it run in vorpX.
Regarding the API: AFAIK the ray-tracing setting is optional, so i doubt that it will be DX12 only. CDPR, like any business, wants to maximize install base and profits, so i’m quite sure they will include a DX11 path as a minimum.
Ofc, DX12 vorpX support would be a nice thing to have, for compatibility with new games.
I’m only about a year too early, but lets get the hype ball rollin. If vorpX supports Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out, I might as well have died and gone to heaven. No pressure.
But seriously, you must keep us notified Ralf if you find out any engine details or such which might point to a “maybe” or a “definitely not” as it get closer. With your usual disclaimer of course. ;)
Havoc is the physics engine those games use.
Wikipedia is a good source for this info if one has a bit previous knowledge of game engines.
The Witcher 2 is 100% RedEngine, so i thought it would be useful to add the entry. It was the very first iteration of this engine, before it was upgraded for The Witcher 3.
A new version of RedEngine is used for Cyberpunk 2077.
If you are new to vorpX, you probably want to hop right into the action instead of learning how to configure vorpX. The list below contains first person games that work with litlle to no configuration in ‘Full VR’ due to vorpX’s DirectVR functionality, which can configure important things like field of view, head tracking or resolution automatically.
For third person games that are usually played best in immersive screen or cinema mode not much configuration is required in general, so this list focuses on first person ‘Full VR’ games that can be a little harder to configure without DirectVR.
If you are stuck, make sure to check the ‘Essential Hints Guide’ and the ‘Quick Reference’ in the help. They help you understand a few basic concepts.
