Props to Ralf for including a bunch of amazing cinema mode / 3rd person games this go around.
    – Dark souls 3
    – Witcher 3
    – Assassins Creed origins
    – Inside
    – Ori
    – Hellblade
    – Elex
    – Mass Effect Andromeda

And even games like Outlast, Far Cry 4, Primal, and Prey are great in cinema mode too.

    Loving it!

The reason I’ve asked here is due to what I originally said in my OP. I’m asking the vorpx community for input on the game running in VR not 2D…if anyone has any input on that.

Dark Souls community will only have input on 2D gameplay.

There are 2 different versions of DS 2…original DX9 and updated DX11. Ralf mentioned about 1 year ago that DX9 does both G3D & z-buffer…Dx11 only does z-buffer. (For strictly VR)…I’m wondering which one gives better performance…like Skyrim vs SE…one is better than the other in vorpx VR.

Isn’t the bundle cheaper than the season pass? I think you’d get a better answer from the Dark Souls community on reddit, than here on the Vorpx forums.

As I haven’t played any of the Dark Souls series yet…I’m wondering what version of Dark Souls 2 I should get…strictly for VR in vorpx. I typically use Z-buffer as I like to have 90fps instead of the 45 G3D gives. Since the they are all on sale presently, I’ll prob just add it to my play list…which is getting quite long…LOL!!!

I know the original DS 2 will do both z-buffer & G3D…and DS 2 sotfs only does z-buffer…but I’m just wondering if one is better than the other in vorpx VR.

    Cheers!!!

Hey all! I’m brand new to VorpX (just got my Rift 5 days ago) and still getting the hang of the in-game settings. But with one game in particular, I can’t even get that far:

Dark Souls 1 (Prepare to Die edition, Steam)

The game launches fine without VorpX, but when I enable the driver, it launches to a black screen. No sound, and no indication of progress. I’ve disabled everything I can think of (AVG, Steam overlay, nVidia overlay, streaming programs, Plex, even my print monitor). Still no luck. And ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I’m wondering if it’s possible to set a keyboard shortcut to toggle or cycle reconstruction modes. I’m playing Dark Souls 2 (DX9, non-SOTFS) and Geometry looks amazing, but doesn’t render summon signs and notes. Being able to quickly jump between Z3D and G3D without opening the overlay would be nice. Cheers

    RESOLVED –

not sure what I changed, Vorpx was not working for me at all . I tried everything – disabling overlays (steam, nvidia), antivirus, etc. as directed in the “READ ME FIRST” section and I couldn’t get Dark Souls or Dragon Age to run anymore in virtual cinema mode at all.

Then last night I fired up Dishonoured and it hooked (and looked better than every before, the tracking seems a lot better). Ever since then Dark Souls has been running fine and messing about with the 3D FOV slider has improved it even more.

    Hurray!

Does Dark Souls work for anyone any more?

I was really enjoying playing through it in virtual cinema mode but after the update on the last day of december it no longer works for me.

The games does not hook, the main monitor shows the game running in a Window whereas before the game appeared in the headset only.

I’ve tried uninstalling fully and reinstalling using the web installer, so not sure what else to try. I’m downloading the cloud profile for Dark Souls.

Windows 10 and HTC vive here.

(btw thanks for keeping the updates coming Ralf!)

Thanks for the update Ralf. But for the next release can you focus on more games with geometry 3D? Things like Deus Ex Mankind Divided, dishonored 2, dark souls 3, watchdogs 2, witcher3 G3D.

Mankind divided and dishonored 2, being my personal choices. Those would be crazy good.

Is there a profile with good geo 3D for Dark souls 3?
I’ ve found different profiles that hook into it but none with working 3D.

Ralf, I’m always singing the praises of VorpX where ever I go. Love it. But there is ONE thing that would really really make it even better. More games support!!
I’ve said it in other threads, but I’ll say it again. Please add more games to the supported list (G3D of course). Great candidates:

    – AC4 Black Flag (or AC Unity)
    – The Forest
    – Dark Souls 3
    – Far Cry 4
    – Mad Max
    – Splinter Cell Blacklist
    – DE Mankind Divided
    – Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain
    – witcher 3

    Keep up the good work!
If you need help, let me know!

    Hey Ralf,
I’m sure you get a million of these, but here is a list of games that would absolutely rock with VorpX support. (In Geometry of course)

    – Stranded Deep
    – Layers of Fear
    – AC4 Black Flag (or AC Unity)
    – The Forest
    – Dark Souls 3
    – Far Cry 4
    – Mad Max
    – SOMA
    – Splinter Cell Blacklist
    – DE Mankind Divided
    – Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain
    – Witcher 3

Let me know what you think, or what is do-able in the future…
    Cheers,
    Dean.

    Hey everyone.

got a problem I was hoping someone might be able to help me with.

Dark Souls 3 on Vorpx is running well overall – but there is a constant studder, noticeable when moving, but VERY noticeable when standing still.

When I have the VorpX panel up, though.. the game runs 100% smooth. Is there anything I can do about this?

I am open to anything – even if it means just finding a way to drag the VorpX menu to a corner each time I play then just play with it off to the side, out of view.

Anyone know what I should do? Really wanting to play Dark Souls 3 but this is really detracting from the experience.

TLDR: Game runs smooth when VorpX in game menu is up, on screen. When I turn the menu off, the game begins to studder.. very strange situation, looking for help.

    Thanks everyone!

IIRC the Scholar of the First Sin version has only Z3D with vorpX. For full Geometry 3D please use the original DX9 based Dark Souls II version.
