When you get the Original Fallout 4 VR Version, you are only able to play it via Motion VR Controllers, when you play it with Vorpx, you have some more features for example, playing with Xbox Controller or Keyboard (of course with Headtracking and Positional Tracking in G3D just like in the Native VR Version)
In Vorpx you can switch to Cinema Mode or Full VR again everytime.
And for me the most important thing is, in Native Fallout 4 VR its recommended to play it standed (which i dont like so much), via Vorpx you can play it with much comfort seated (which is my favorite Way to play almost all Games :)

For me, i dont really need the motion Controllers for Non VR Ego Shooter Games, its alright to just aim with your Head.

Oh and the most important Feature, when you play the normal Version with Vorpx, you can Swtich to Third and First Person everytime, in Fallout 4 Native VR its only First Person.
To Play in Third Person is a really cool way, to play Fallout 4 in VR:)

So i would recommend the normal Version with VORPX :)
Annother feature, you can also just play it without VR, because its made for desktop.
Fallout 4 Native VR forces you to always play with the VR Headset.

I’ve not played Fallout 4 with VorpX but I have played Pancake and I own the VR version. I would just go native VR if I were you. I love it, the game feels excellent. I have a higher end graphics card so I guess I’ve yet to have any problems but I heard from others the lower end cards require alot of tinkering. I’ve almost played through the entire game and its been an excellent ride the whole way through, beats the hell out of the flatscreen version.

Apparently, there is also a way to get the mods working but I haven’t spent too much time on that. If you are looking for a world to get lost in, don’t hesitate, just get it and play.

Pretty much depends on how you want to play the game:

If you want to play roomscale, Fallout 4 VR is what you want you to get despite its visual downgrade compared to the regular version. You can play standing/roomscale with vorpX too, but Bethesda obviously could do much more in that regard than vorpX can do, so the Fallout 4 VR version is superior here.

Fallout 4 with vorpX is the right choice if you prefer to play seated and/or want to use as many mods as possible since the VR version does not support all mods.

Im trying to get the game to look right with a good resolution in the Rift S.

When I run it the game launcher menu comes up and I choose 5:4 windowed and the resolutions are tiny and horrible but the game boots up, but if I choose fullscreen it unlocks 1080p in the drop down, but the game freezes right at launch on the very first screen. Is it freezing because of fullscreen?

What base configuration should i be using here? full/windowed? Which format and which resolution?

And is there a way to make the picture sharper?

I plan to use 2x supersampling with oculus tray tool and should I max AA in game and 15 on anistropic? or is there any known graphic tricks? I feel like i cant find info on this anywhere else.

Unfortunately i only played kingdom come with regular mods and vorpx, i wasnt aware of any motion control stuff going on with that one. If you got info on that, im 100% interested cause that game could be awesome if you were actually prepping the swings.

I really recommend tho – having been messing with VR since DK2.. Walking Dead Saints and Sinners is the best implementation of VR into an actual “GAME” that ive seen yet. I really would recommend you refund skyrim and fallout and get that if youre short on cash. Skyrim and Fallout are great – but they are very much so “vr tacked on” – it works, its fun, just like games in Vorpx are fun even tho they arent 100% VR…

But if youre really looking for the most legitimate “oh shit, this is what you CAN do with VR”… i think Walking Dead makes the strongest argument for VR that ive seen in all these years since DK2 first got out into the wild.

And i did try Dark messiah of Might and Magic and it just didnt hold up for me well enough to get past like the first hour or so.. might be exactly your type of game, so might have a blast with it.

My best vorpx experiences have been Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro with first person mods. Mass Effect andromeda with first person mod… and others but my brain cant think of em all right now, lol. i got evil within 2 running in vorpx at one point, i think i used a dishonored profile and that worked awesome, but people have said it doesnt work anymore with that profile, i dont know, youd have to test it yourself, but if you get it to work, it was awesome with the first person mode in that game.

Dark Souls 3 is great in first person vr if you wanted to try it but you cant use the lock on – you need to basically play a 2 handed rolling character without a shield or magic, the ‘mod’ to get it in first person just doesnt ‘play well’ with the lock on. For Sekiro its much smoother and that isnt really an issue, loved em both in Vorpx. Sekiro does have mods on nexusmods to add ‘invincibility frames’ to your dodge like Bloodborne if you wanted to make it a more ‘palatable’ experiene. It can be difficult if youre getting ganged up on in that game and dont have i frames in first person, i played without it, but i can definitely see how it could be essential for some players.

One last message :P Gonna try out duke nukem 3d next, dunno if its as well translated as hl1 and q1-2 though. I doubt it. Also wanted to put it on the record, I bought skyrim vr and fallout 4 vr(just cause it was so discounted, I hate paying for that shit again) and its amazing, bethesda couldnt make a bugfree game with a gun to their head! I spent more time making those two playable properly than any non vr game I done :P But once I got them stable and a conservative amount of enhancment mods their pretty awsome. Also was wondering of you tried might and magic dark messiah through vorpx? So far its the game that looks and runs best so far, its look to aim ofc but doesnt seem to be a problem in that type of game, also tried kingdom come, it seems worth playing with look to aim aswell, but saw a youtube video of someone using motion controls to punch and maybe swing sword. Didnt find any sources or guides for it though

Hello,
I have a problem with Fallout 3 GOTY the GOG Version.
When I launch the game there is only a black screen on startup, sometimes there is a big flashing grey triangle. The sound is ok. I can’t even bring up the vorpx-menu in the game. I tried different resolutions and settings but it always looks like this.

When I pause the watcher the game starts normal and everything is fine.
When I first start the game and then select ‘resume watcher’ it tries to attach to fallout 3.exe but after some time I get an error message.

My system:
AMD Ryzen 7 2700
AMD Radeon R380 (drivers up to date)
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
16GB RAM
Oculus Rift with touch controllers
vorpx version 20.1.1

I hope someone can help me because Fallout 3 was one of the most important reasons for me to buy vorpx.

Hope you dont mind me criticizing this. I used this quite a lot, in Fallout 4 for example. Sometimes it was better to scale the HUD down, sometimes it was better to almost move it out of the way (for better sight). I would say at least this function is a step back in comfort. Has ever someone complained about those two functions ? I understand your point but i was using the image zoom as well sometimes eg. for that little more FOV on the fly.

How about SHIFT+Y+Mousewheel or ALT+Y+Mousewheel instead or something similar to prevent from mistakely changing values ?

If you have a gamepad connected to your PC, please disable it in the Fallout 3 options menu. The game only allows either mouse/keyboard or gamepad input. Not both at the same time.

vorpX overrides the gamepad before running the DirectVR scan since in that case it emulates a mouse for head tracking. After the scan that isn’t necessary anymore, so the gamepad override the gets disabled. When that happens while you have the gampad enabled in the Fallout 3 options, the game disables the mouse like it would without vorpX.

TLDR: After running the DirectVR scan Fallout 3 behaves like it would without vorpX, so you have to disable the gamepad in the game options if you want to play with mouse and keyboard.

Hi, i use steam version of fallout 3 with mouse&keyboard
Before the scan i was able to use my mouse&keyboard normally

When i use the direct vr scan it corrects everything as it should,
But with one side effect… i cannot Move Up or Down with my mouse (locked)
well i sort of can move but it forces to the center of the screen.
when i disable head tracking or direct vr memory i was able to use my mouse again.
Witch is bad with the Fov…

Fallout Shelter (G3D)

Nice 3D on the environment but characters are drawn 2D (by the engine), which doesnt look bad at all, it pretty much suits to the game. I recommend using higher custom resolutions like described below because zooming into rooms looks better this way.

It should switch to native after a successful DirectVR scan.

Background: some games (including Fallout 76) do not allow mouse and gamepad to be used at the same time. Since prior to a successful DirectVR scan vorpX emulates a mouse for head tracking the gamepad cannot be used natively while that is the case, so vorpX overrides it with its built in gamepad to mouse/keyboard mapper.

After a succesful DirectVR scan vorpX does not have to emulate a mouse for head tracking anymore and turns off the override. You can then use your gamepad natively.

Can somone walk me through how i can get my Xbox controller to act like it does native when i play Fallout 76 on PC, vorpx overrides it and remapping it will never get you the same results as “Native”

I have read i need to do a directVr scan, but how should the controller the be set in vorpx after the scan ?

i know i can get banned in fallout 76, but have bought a burner account just to do this lol.

I guess after it is done and the profile is exported, i should be able to use it on until the change something in the game ?
