Please try a another save game/location if you didn’t do that already.

Also make sure that the game is updated to the latest version in Steam. Although it should work with most versions, the Fallout 4 FOV scan is one of the cases that is not guaranteed to work with every version of the game.

And last but not least try without any mods and especially without the Fallout Script Extender (F4SE) if you use that. Unlikely, but it may change the memory layout of the game in a way that makes the scanner fail.

I’m getting the first DirectVR to work, but the FOV and the POV are both failing. I reloaded the game and reset the ini files. I’m trying with the Vive now, but also tried it with the rift and had similar results.

I also did the optimize setting vorpx

One weird thing, I’m not seeing the right resolution when I launch. I’m not sure if that’s the issue. Also, I don’t get this in skyrim, but it comes up with a warning “Fallout 4 will launch into an environment in your VR HMD as well as on your desktop… ” I’m not sure if that’s normal.

Anyway, would love to see this working as well as I got skyrim.
    Thanks

    Hey guys,

I don’t like the way the buttons are mapped for Fallout: New Vegas with the Vive wands (used as an Xbox controller, not emulating KB/M). Is there a hidden option I have missed to change the keybindings? E.g. I don’t like how the right stick is on the right wand and rather want to only use the right stick with map shifting and have the face buttons always available to me.

Did you run the Direct VR scanner after entering the actual gameworld to adjust field of view and head tracking?

Direct VR games (incl. Skyrim) are the ones that work best. Current games with Direct VR support are: Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source. More to come shortly.

For further Skyrim hints please check this recent Reddit thread:

First you should always be aware that vorpX applies VR functionality to games that were never meant to be played in VR. So depending on how you define 100%, either only a few may work without issues or most.

If you are searching for the games that work best, the ones with the new Direct VR feature, which provides automatic 1:1 head tracking and FOV adjustment, are clearly closest to a native experience. Others will require more tweaking. Currently this includes (more to come shortly):

Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source.

I am not entirely sure if that title is the most correct, but I have setup Fallout 4 now to the point where I think I may be happy to play most of the game – though I am still testing.

Early on I noticed that when I was talking to the Vault Tec guy, the conversation suddenly became really close to each person talking and it was like I was looking past their waste. This happens anytime it moves into one of those auto conversations.

I figured I could deal with that. I entered my vault chamber and on entry, the camera panned out and moved through half the vault before settling on an area behind my actual vault and I was looking through the walls.

After getting out of the vault, and doing another tour of the vault before getting control of the character again, everything was fine for a while and was actually having fun – until I went to sit down at a console (terminal). Upon attempting to activate the console, the camera moved, panned right then down and sat on the floor and it stays in this position on every terminal I try to use making it impossible to see or interact with them. At this point I have to switch out to Cinema mode so I can see what is happening.

Does anyone know what is causing this camera to go wild and into strange places and whether there is any fix for it, or do I have to live with switching to cinema mode each time this happens?

100% accurate. Been playing RE since the first one on PSX, but I’m not going to play this game because by the time PC VR support arrives, I’ll be balls deep in the Wasteland of Fallout 4 VR. Capcom dropped the ball. As much as I understand platform exclusivity, it is the opposite of what VR as a medium needs right now.

In gamepad mode, it looks like there is no deadzone at all on the triggers. Which means the slightest touch will activate them. Just resting the fingers on them will activate them constantly. In Fallout NV, it means random firing the weapon and zooming in.

In KB/mouse mode, it’s the opposite, you have to pull the trigger about half its full range to activate the binded button.

I have discovered a problem with Vorpx and Fallout New Vegas.

When I view the pipboy, its screen information goes into a small box in the top left corner instead of being centred. My arm and pipboy is shown correctly however.

I have loaded the same save without Vorpx running and everything is fine.

Don’t know whether its because I am supersampling (3840×2160), but it almost seems that the texture used for the pipboy screen hasn’t increased and is still being displayed at 512×512, whereas the pipboy has gone to the correct resolution.

Does anybody know how to fix this issue.

alright thanks a ton for the quick response and keyboard mouse it is than. hope to see it but i understand it not being top priority at it does work with keyboard.

and i was reading another thread the crouch for when im crouching at a normal height it crouching before i get to a comfortable position and for me to push the button and crouch im almost in the floor. It also resets sometimes when going to crouch that cant be fixed thats something with the way engine works unless it has positional fallout 4 bioshock and alien colonial ? no skyrim and no borderlands cause its just rotation?

    Hi,

I recently bought oculus rift and I am very happy with immersion it provides.
Unfortunatley you can not play many real games with it and I thought that it is time to check some old must play games. Then I heard about this program. After reading many posts I have just one question because there are many opinions for and against (and its look like those against are from people that can not set up games properly, correct me if I am wrong). Does direct vr games stated in last patch,, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source” looks like a native vr games like for example assetto corsa or Elite? Or the view is closer to zbuffer method which someone said is similar to 3d tv view?
I don’t mind spending some time on configurations and things like changing to 2d view to check map etc.

The 3D effect in Witcher 3 isn’t as pronounced as in native since it is applied after rendering the game. In contrast to that Life is Strange has full Geometry 3D, which works like native apps by rendering the scene twice.

You can play both games with the default settings, but if you want to make them more immersive, you will need to adjust settings. The one-click games that require no configuration for a fully immersive experience are the ones listed above with the new Direct VR feature: Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source.

In general seated or standing in place, but there also are a few games that allow basic walking around. The requirement for that is that the new Direct VR feature works with the game and that the Direct VR handles positional tracking. Currently this means: Fallout 4, Bioshock 1+2, Bishock Infinite, Aliens Colonial Marines.

vorpX does a lot more. I.e. providing Stereo 3D and head tracking. In case of Witcher 3 it’s a 3D effect that is applied after rendering the game, so it’s not as pronounced as the 3D effect in native apps. Life is Strange has full Geometry 3D, which means the scene is rendered twice like in native apps. You can also move the “screen” very close to you, so that it fully fills the view to enhance immersion.

You can have fun with with these two games and vorpX, but you should be aware that they don’t belong to the games where vorpX really shines.

The best games for vorpX, especially in regard to easy configuration, are the ones with the new Direct VR feature, currently that includes: Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source.

Thank you for your Reply again, Ralf, that’s very useful Information. Unfortunately the only games I find somewhat appealing are Skyrim and Fallout 4. But Fallout 4 will get a native VR-Support anyways (soon) and from what I’ve heard you have to reduce the graphical ‘fidelity’ to a medium Setting in Skyrim for it to become playable via vorpx in VR. And I can only Play the game with a ton of mods loaded so I am afraid it won’t be a pleasent experience playing it in VR (–> due to low fps), I guess.

    Allow me two last questions:

    1) What’s the difference between the 3D effect in Witcher 3 compared to a, say, native 3D effect. Yes, I get it, it’s not as significant as you’d expect but is it still, well, enjoyable enough to settle down with the low Resolution of the game (I know, it’s a very subjective question…)?

    2) I suppose that I will have to work myself through the Settings of vorpx to make Witcher 3 work in VR, yes? So am I right in assuming that it won’t be something like: Load vorpx –> ‘bind’ it with witcher 3 –> push ‘Play in VR’-button in vorpx –> enjoy Witcher 3 in VR?

(note: I read some of your patch notes from the newest update of vorpx and the easy functionality you’ve just untroduced does not apply to Witcher, correct?)
