Hi since updating to the latest version I can’t get Halo CE to work with G3D only Reach seems to work with G3D now.
Has anyone else came across this and found a fix.
Upscaling/sharpening is done at the final stage before the images are sent to the headset, which is the best point in time to do this.
This is a bit counter-intuitive to me. I assumed applying sharpening after the depth effect would worsen the inherent artifacts (for example making edges more visible on the “halo effect” for third person games).
If applying FSR right at the end is better it would mean vorpX should yield better results compared to enabling it in-game. At least for quality since the game would process one image instead of two.
So I just bought vorpx over this last week and have been struggling to get any games to work. Mainly any of the halo games. Whenever I boot them up using the profile it all looks fine except for the fake every 2-3 seconds it drops to 0 frames in the headset for about 5 seconds. This frame drop is not shown on the monitor view where it continues to run very smoothly though.
try halo masterchief collection profile, Z3D works great.
create a profile based on this one. and tweak to your liking.
and dont forget to use unreal engine unlocker tool to get higher fov.
edit : i just shared my profile on the cloud.
Thanks Ralph, I appreciate you taking time to respond. That makes perfect sense.
Possibly I will be able to play the game in full VR with my Index motion controllers when they arrive, or just be happy with Cinema mode. TBH the one thing really going for CP77 is the graphics engine with RT; it makes little sense to sacrifice that in the name of forcing it into a VR experience.
Now, when the NEXT gen cards come along, I think I’ll actually be able to push enough pixels, even through vorpX, to play a game like this at the clarity I want in full VR mode.
For now, older games that I can push at 4K using a G3D profile (F03, etc.) look absolutely amazing in full VR, but modern games, ironically, with their newer-but-much-softer AA in the first place, and needing to use Z3D to push the frame rate I need: Even at 4K they often end up too soft.
Not a complaint, just an observation of the limits of technology. TriDef was always much softer in Z3D than G3D mode as well.
One thing that might help: Is there any way you could try to make ReShade work more consistently with vorpX? Right now it’s hit-and-miss. The error pops up, but with some titles it works just fine (Greedfall). With others it will cause an instant CTD (CP77 is one of these). I have LONG used AA, sharpening, and very importantly the Film Grain ReShade filters to manage games that otherwise look poor with various 3D techniques. A small amount of Film Grain, for example, can help to mask Z3D halos and will trick the eye & brain into perceiving a scene as being more detailed than it actually is (the brain interprets a certain amount of grain as added sharpness/detail for some reason, a trick photographers have used for ages to ‘fix’ photos that are too soft.)
If you can’t work to allow ReShade to work the normal way, is there any way you could set it up so that vorpX can handle ReShade itself and apply it to games that way?
Email sent, I tried a few more games.
Audiosurf 2 works perfectly
age of mythology
DOOM
Halo: MCC
all do nothing at all
Please could you let me know which profile you used to get Audiosurf 2 working?
Thanks.
I’ve tried to get Halo mcc to hook, but every time I launch it it says “this game is unsupported”. That’s when I noticed that the vorpx profile is looking for “mcc-win64-shipping-winstore.exe” and “mcc-win64-shipping.exe” but the game’s exe must have changed, because now it’s called “MCCWinStore-Win64-Shipping.exe”. this is probably why it’s not hooking, right?
I started playing Rocket League recently since the take over by Epic games. Steroscopic 3D on geometric mode still works, but the lens flare halos are at the wrong depth. Is it possible for this issue to be looked into?
I am using VorpX version 21.2.1
Tested with an Index and 3440x1440p monitor. I changed a couple of unnecessary things in the graphic settings and messed with the vorpX settings. I ended up fixing the graphical glitches and I was able to get smooth gameplay with ultra graphics. Head tracking is way smoother than how it was in F1 2020. I’m able to read the mfd clearly and didn’t encounter any shading glitches other than some billboards. The only downside is that I have to disable the halo column. I can’t see beyond it like how it was in the previous F1 game.
Just got the MC collection and things seem to be working fine, except my game controller. The right stick is showing as “c”, which should be crouch? When I push the right stick it’s invoking edge peek. How do I stop that behavior, and crouch with the right stick press? I’ve never tried changing anything related to a controller in the vorpx menu.
Sadly, I am unable to get Vorpx to hook to Halo: MCC using OpenXR.
That’s the thing, it’s like all reflection effects were disabled with G3D which made playing the game like that quite dull, with Z3D it was like actually being in there (i just can’t used to the halo effect it brings). Gonna replay it to see if something’s changed as i haven’t tested it after the OpenXR update, if the same thing happen’s i’ll record a video of it.
There is a G3D (geometry 3D) list on here somewhere.
There are a ton of games that support it. The upside is that it’s ‘real 3D’ (which is I assume what you mean?). So everything has proper depth and scale. The downside is it takes over 2x the power of your GPU to render everything twice. Also, depending on the engine, some graphical effects may need to be turned down or even off (eg. shadows are frequently a problem)
Z3D is still 3D… but it cheats and creates 3D from the games zmap. So there’s depth, but things tend to look a little like 2D popups in situations. And there’s usually a halo effect around certain objects as a result of how Z3D works. As well as other oddities eg. in Wreckfest, the road looks like it’s going ‘down’ in front of you. Some Z3D can work well. And some people can barely tell the difference between the two.
For me, nothing beats games like Rocket League, Titanfall 2, Metro etc in G3D. No issues with shadows and perfect depth and scale. Brilliant.
And yes… they should just work. No hours of setting up. You can, of course, play with settings to your heart’s content.
Halo MCC – Anti Cheat Disabled won’t hook using OpenXR on my Samsung O+ WMR Headset. When I switch to SteamVR it hooks just fine. I’ve tried both hooking methods.
