In reply to: Need for Speed Most Wanted: Vorpx error
RalfKeymasterHi Paul,
This error indicates that the game tries to run in DirectX 11 mode, but your graphics card does not support the DirectX 11 ‘feature level’ that is required by vorpX. Many games can be forced to use pure DX9 instead to circumvent something like this, a short Google search revealed no such option for NFS:MW though, so unfortunately you might be out of luck unless you have access to a fully DX11 compatible graphics card.

mheParticipantSo DCS, being a pure 64bit application as of the latest update, will simply not work with VorpX, no matter how hard I try?

RalfKeymastervorpX already uses the calibration data from the Oculus config tool.
And if no calibration data is found it starts the automatic calibration that tries to calibrate silently in the background.
The right click – functionality you suggest is by pure coincidence already in vorpX’s gamepad emulation, there is just no GUI-Button to activate it. I’m not sure whther I’d like to expose it, since vorpX’s original design pilosophy was to have as less switches and buttons as possible. On the other not much of this philosophy is left anyway due do people constanty requesting arcane stuff like you do… :)

RalfKeymasterCurrently this isn’t possible, but I have an idea how this might be possible for quite some time. It’s pure theory ATM though, so it might or might not get implemented in future versions. Depending on if and how the theory turns out to work in practice. :)

museumsteveParticipantI think the Oculus creators are going to have to get into the software business for this thing to take off. Relying on game makers is a losing proposition. Just look at 3d technology. After a promising start 3d has been all but abondoned on the consoles because studios are refusing to invest extra money to satisfy a niche market. If it werent for Helix Mod cleaning up Nvidias laziness most 3d games on the pc would be unplayable today. Vorpx isnt looking to be the white knight anymore to springboard this technology and the game studios may not feel the profit incebtive to give us what we want. I’ll be keeping a close eye on what sort of partnerships the Oculus team can arrange but it looks like this is going to take quite soe time now.
Why are people so worried. Anything the mainstream developers are doing now is purely at dev level. That’s like saying, OMG there’s no PS4 games in the shops…but that’s because it’s not out yet so it doesn’t matter.
The consumer Rift is probably a good 18 months away. Anyone that has a devkit bought it knowing there were no commercially available games and that we’d either be making stuff ourselves or living on tech demos and apps form the community. -
