Hi all. Bought Vorpx yesterday after vireo wouldnt run skyrim at all and I can say that it worked right out of the gate. After messing with my IDP a little (I have glasses but everything was a blur with the glasses and lens B set, while lens A was sharper and setting IDP lower has it almost perfect now) I have the game running well.

But its too big to fit on the Oculus screen. I know I can middle mouse click but then the screen sways oddly and has a black border, and I have the “less intrusive UI” mod and I can move stuff around, but for perspective sake, when I start the game, I can see the Imperial dragon logo but not the start menu. In game, pulling up the item menu leaves half of it hanging off the screen to the left. I can only just see my Health Bar at the bottom and can never see my compass at the top. Its like I am seeing the middle half of the screen.

Anyone know of this issue and how to make skyrim actually fit on the oculus?

I have no troubles working vorpx with Steam:
    Borderlands 2
    Borderlands Pre-Sequel
    Chivalry
    DCS World
    F1 2012 (needs open track)
    F1 2014 (needs open track)
    Far Cry 4
    GTAIV
    Metro 2033
    Mirrors Edge
    Portal 2
    Outlast
    Skyrim
    Wolfenstein

    Alien Isolation (mod game file)
Test Drive Unlimited 2 (have 3D but no head tracking)

I also have the Mass Effect trilogy and Alan Wake but I haven’t tried those games yet. Except for the games marked, all work with vorpx’s head tracking.

When starting vorpControl I get the following error:

Sorry. vorX encountered a critical error and cannot do its magic. :\
Try restarting the application. If the problem persists, reinstalling vorpX might help.
    Error code: 2

Then when I do reinstall, vorpControl will be loaden and most? features seems to function. Then when I need to start vorpControl again (after reboot) I get the same error and need to reinstall again.

Also the games won’t show on the DK2. I have folowed the instructions and tried all variations of setting (direct, extended HMD, primary, secondary display).
    The games I tried are:
Call of Duty Black Ops II, The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and Legue of Legends

When the games start I do see the vorpX 7.5 text in the screen at the bottom left. With the del key I can go to the options. I tried lots of settings.

I have no idea what I can do next.

I’m using windows 8.1, how do you get rid of the mouse cursor loading in Far Cry 3? It happens after I confirm the first vorpx notification in the dk2. It loads endlessly after then. Whereas in Skyrim, after I confirm the vorpx notification, I would simply click ‘ok’ on the rest and the mouse would disappear. Sorry, i’m pretty bad at explaining things.

Please help, I am using a dk2 with laptop now (win7 64, rift runtime 0.4.4,gtx 870m nvidia optimus)
I set the rift runtime to extend mode and got team fortresses2 running under steam correctlly.

now the problem is I run Vorpx 0.75 and then start skyrim @ 1080p, it bounced back and indicating the resolution is not supported, please change the resolution. i tried differet res, including the window mode, only the 800*600 under fullscreen mode works.
however the image is 90 degree flipped. I tried to pre flip the extended screen or set the rift as the main displayer and none of these works.(I used tridef 3d a few weeks ago, is that a possible cause?)

I then try battle field 4, every time I click the “join server”, it indicates “direct 11 dll error”, I can enter the game normally once I turned off vorpx.

    and advice? please.

I’ve tried running Skyrim, Dear Esther, and Portal. In every game, everything seems enlarged, even when the FOV is set correctly. For example, with FOV 120 in Skyrim, my in-game arms and weapons feel like they are massive arms sticking several feet out in front of me. Standing next to an NPC makes them look like giants. Is there a setting I can adjust, or is it simply the result of forcing a non VR game into VR?

In contrast, in Half-life 2, run through Steam VR, everything seem proportional.

vorpX tries to handle that already and it works for a handful of games (Skyrim for example), but Direct HMD causes a direct (pun intended) conflict with the way vorpX works, so there there might be no way to get it working with everything.

I will take another look at this when the Oculus SDK is a bit more mature in this regard. The whole thing is very, very beta ATM on the SDK side.

I will make new video that explains this and setup better :)
But those who uses Rift to “demo” it to friends or keep “rift nights” VRpartys :D know what this means :)

So now we have normally only 2 way to demo stuff first is official and it is Direct HMD access that automatically copy Rift image to main monitor but if used in Extended mode there is no way you to see what is going on in VR player vision without third party soft named Open Broadcaster and that hits badly to performance :/

but even with that you only see copy of Rift image like this:
    http://static4.gamespot.com/uploads/screen_kubrick/mig/6/7/2/6/2126726-169_skyrimocculusrift_gsnews_04222013.jpg

But I managed to get game running normally in main monitor as demonstrated in youtube video ;)

You are right you have to use the injector version. However the Grim and Somber Auzura ENB 264-50501-6-0-3 looks pretty awesome in the Rift.

Unfortunately I have a GTX 970 and even overclocked the game just cant keep up a high enough frame rate in outdoor areas (especially when enemies show up) with an ENB enabled. Some of the lighter ENBs maybe but the DK2’s screen is still too low res for the enhancements of those ENBs too show up in any real noticeable fashion. That and crash to desktop is like 10 times more likely to happen when the ENBs used in the Rift.

I spent 2 weeks tweaking and really trying to sort out the issue. Moral of the story is that Skyrim ENBs in the Rift are not worth the effort. When CV1 comes out and the massive Skyrim modding community gets involved you can bet it will be figured out in a month.

Not only does VorpX not work with d3d9.dll present; it also doesn’t work with dxgi.dll present, so even if you get around the d3d9.dll problem with the injector version of the binary, any ENB preset that actually looks good uses a dxgi.dll. Anybody found a way around the dxgi.dll problem?

    Hello,
I’m new to Rift DK2 and how to drive it

so far I did not encounter any Vorpx problem with these games:

    Mirror’s Edge
    Call Of Prypiat
    Dishonored
    Arma series
    Metro Redux
    Outlast
    Thief2014

while (settings to default and monitor to Dk2):

    – Mass Effect 3 won’t activate the DK2
    – Portal 2 crashes to desktop as soon as it reaches the main interface, – although activating the DK2
    – Skyrim won’t activate the Dk2 and crashes to desktop

I’ve tried to follow the troubleshooting section suggestions, with no results

    any hints?

    thanks

Thanks a lot! I finally got it working after fiddling with settings and restarting my comp like 3 times, lol. One question though, when I’m playing a game like Skyrim or Payday2, I’m not fully immersed in the game because I can still hit the edge of the screen with my view, and that moves the entire view off center. When I want to aim down the sights of my gun or bow, its off to the side or a little to low and I have to constantly be looking around me until the screen is re centered just to be thrown off again, anyone know of a fix?

Ok so after some majure tweaking I got this working :D

So how about getting something like that straight in to VorpX iterface ;)
