I’m sure OP is talking about the fact that you see the left half of the screen in your left eye and the right half of the screen in your right eye. It is also distorted due to the lenses. This makes it very difficult to actually start a game when you have to select the rift as the primary display. To open Skyrim in Steam, I first set my screen to make the rift the primary, then I have to navigate through the startup screen by closing one eye and trying to click on the play button. Very cumbersome….

It is very very limited in WOW when I tried it a while ago, In my opinion pretty much unplayable sorry to say.
However Vorpx has an amazing way of being able to read and view the screen when needed called “Edge Peek, this allows you to zoom out and look around the screen to read, interact and view the menu etc.

Skyrim is fantastic along with quiet a few other games that make Vorpx a must for any Oculus owner but WOW was not one of these.

I bought VorpX 0.7.5 a few days ago. Ran it with Skyrim… impressive.
However, yesterday, my Norton Antivirus reported the Vorpconfig.exe file as a Trojan and removed it/quarantined the file.

Is anyone else having this issue? Is there any real cause for concern on this file’s security?

Oh I see, thank you hadn’t tried that.

Well then maybe this will address most of it, will try tonight. Having the option to lock the Skyrim cursor to the middle cross might help even better if it’s not too hard to implement.

    Hello,

I bought vorpX to play Skyrim and got it working without too much difficulty.

What I realized makes my experience most difficult is the fact that the UI was obviously not designed for that use in mind. The problem is I have to focus on various UI elements instead of looking to infinity which hurts my eyes and makes this unplayable for more than a few minutes, none of the options below really addresses the problem.

1- UI Downscale: This might work if it was allowed to go below 50% which is still not possible with the latest version + if it did, the quality of the UI would be reduced substantially to make things too small to read/to low quality to read.
2- Modify the skyrim ini file to add a safezone and bring the UI to the center: This actually works somewhat better than the vorpX UI downscale in that it can place stuff in the middle of the screen but unfortunately makes UI elements stack unto each other making the UI hard to use.
3- EdgePeek I think is the direction towards an actual solution but there are two problems: My eyes still automatically track various UI elements and I can’t seem to rely on my head for looking at stuff. And the biggest caveat is I just can’t click on things while EdgePeek is activated, not sure if that’s by design?

I’m thinking EdgePeek could be fixed if it could:
1- Be setup as a toggle as opposed to having to hold down the button.
2- Allow to click on in-game stuff while in EdgePeek mode by allowing clicks triggered from the center of the screen cross (perhaps locking the Skyrim mouse to the middle of the screen would do the trick).

Then I’d be truly forced to move my head to look at the UI and I could click on UI elements while in Edge Peek mode.

Until then I simply resolve to playing without the Oculus.

Firstly Ralf I want to say how simply amazing your driver is, Skyrim is just fantastic along with quiet a few other games only made playable thanks to you.

What I am inquiring is, do you take requests for games to be possibly be made to work with the dk2 with 3d?
I would be willing to not only buy this game for you ( it’s cheap though lol) but I would buy another licence just to pay for the privilege of being able to play my all time favourite game in 3d with the dk2.
I did have it working with the dk1 very well with 3d by using the Tridef driver before they stopped working on it
    It’s
    “Starship Troopers” by Strangelite

here on ebay to show the game:

It it limited though to (1600×1200 or 1600×900) Not sure if this is a problem for vorpx?
    Kind Regards

Whenever i start up a game i start it up through the oculus being the main screen and is
    A) really hard to see the desktop icons
    B) almost impossible to read anything
but when i set it up as a seperate second screen it doestn let me put my games in that window for some reason.
but the main problem ive been having is that whenever i start up a game it splits into a screen that doesnt line up (like i cant see the center of the screen even on the desktop) and the motion tracking doesnt work.
If someone could tell me how to fix this that would be awesome
the games ive tried so far
Skyrim (drums sound once then dont go off anymore)
portal( cant see the center of the screen)
dishonored(cant see the center of the screen and pops up in windowed mode
crysis (screens arent facing each other)

Skyrim should work without much problems normally. It’s heavily tested. If you use mods, especially ENB-mods or mods that rely on a script extender, please try a fresh Skyrim install without any mods. Most mods should cause no problems, but it’s impossible to test every single one unfortunately.

How good Z3D works is indeed game dependant. vorpX does a lot to make Z3D look as good as possible, but games with wide open spaces generally work best. In the distance sometimes better then Geometry 3D. ArmA III is such a case (Skyrim another one).

You can adjust the FOV in ArmA III and many other games automatically with the Game Settings Optimizer in the vorpX config app BTW. No manual ini-editing needed in this case.

Sounds like you have a gamepad activated in Skyrim. Skyrim disables mouse input while a gamepad is active, which also disables vorpX’s head tracking.

Please disable the gamepad in Skyrim’s option menu. You will still be able to play with a gamapad since vorpX has a fully configurable gamepad emulation built in.

When I did that as well, I found that exiting out of Skyrim and going into the Vorpx control panel and enabling head tracking there, and then closed and restarted Vorpx, I had head tracking back, with full controller support that didn’t mess with Vorpx. Hope that helps you.

At first, the head tracking was working well, however the gamepad mapping in vorpx was causing issues with the game’s native controller support. So, using the menu that is accessible by hitting the delete key, I turned of the internal control of gamepads. Now the head tracking will not work. No matter where I look, the game still looks straight ahead, but even if I turn the internal control back on, it will still not work now.

Anybody that could explain this or tell me how to fix this?

Just bought Vorpx and about to give up. Could really use some help.

The game lanches and i hear the skyrim logo music and menu music, but everything is black. Moving the rift does nto change what i see, i.e i am looking at a static black screen with no head tracking. Both the rift and main display is black. I can navigate the menu and exit the game fine (without seeing it ofc, meaning the game is running fine, but displays are not)

    This is my setup :

    1) Clean install of Skyrim
    2) AMD 7970 GPU, and i set the rift to duplicate in the catalyst control sentre. Main benq display is set to preffered/primary.
    3) I have gone true the DK1 setup guide, DK1 is choosen, i dont use a oculus profile, and display/monitors is set to “use system settings”.

    Please help
