Open the VorpX settings ingame (DEL) and adjust the IPD.
I had to lower mine by about 5.0/6.0 roughly, but that’s dependant on the person.
It’s generally lower in VorpX/Skyrim than in the Oculus settings.

So what can i say….i finaly did it!

It was as simpel as it could be.

On my pc i usualy play as normal user with entering admin pw to execute admin stuff. That was the problem. Even with executing eiter vorpx or skyrim as admin didnt do the trick.
Then i completely logged off as normal user and logged in as admin and “tada”
    Now it works.

For anyone eslse having problems with vorpx….. “log in as admin”

    Have fun…

P.S. @ Ralph: u should also mention “that” u have to log in as admin in ur “how to vorpx” section :)

    Hy man,
I struggled with Skyrim today aswell and figured it out. Btw it was the first “old good” game I managed to launch successfully. There are probably easier ways how to do it, but this worked for me so far.

1.Launch Oculus driver and make sure that all the hardware is working, no special settings.

2.Launch vorpX, choose only to display on DK2, and the rest like in the documentation, no other changes. Make sure that vorpX isnt bugged, for me its like half of the time the vorpX stays “frozen” – doesn’t react to clicking or changing anything, in that case just shut it down and launch again until it responds fine.

    3. Go to your monitor settings and make the Rift the default monitor.

If you have done everything right, you should now see your desktop in the Rift. Now go to your Skyrim’s folder (in Rift already) and launch TESV and that should be it.

Now the tricky little thing I couldnt get through a long time was that my view was zoomed too much and I couldn’t see the Skyrim menu at right corner. This can be fixed by just pressing the Middle Mouse Button ;)

P.S. Maby I’m a pu**y but in the end when I finally made it work it gave me nausea so strong, that I had to quit in few SECONDS. I hope you have stronger stomach then I do ;] glhf

    Hello,

Thx you Ralf for your help but…
I did some tests. But nothing change :-(

    – DK2 as the secondary screen: ok
    – Show only on Rift DK2: ok
    – Skyrim install without any mods: ok
    – No antivirus: ok
    – MSI Afterburner, like Splashtop, video recording and many chat programs like (X-Fire, Skype etc.): ok

I have Geforce Experience drivers but I disable Nvidia tools.
It changes nothing. The display will always start in “normal”.

    Another idea?

    Best regards,
    Numael

    Hello,

I managed to get a copy of skyrim and vorpX, even the dk2 works fine, but when I try to launch Skyrim, it just stays on my monitor and I can’t put in into the rift.
Probably can be fixed with some easy stuff everyone here know, but i don’t, pls help me.

Okay I know no one else seems to care about my precious post, lol. But in case someone from Vorpx out there is reading. I have one more request.

I’d like to be able to set the zoom out value of the edge peak if possible. I find in skyrim that all the large amounts of time spent reading inventory and managing it cause me eye strain after playing for about 3-4 hours. When reading my inventory I feel the text is way too close to my eyes and it starts to cause massive eye headache. If I could zoom out more it’d be appreciated.

Also, I am using a gamepad so I don’t have access to the mouse wheel up or down.

ah yeah i did this already…

not sure what iam doing wrong.

    its like:

    set rift to extended mode
    set rift to main display
start vorpx and make display “show only on dk2
    start skyrim

but that doesnt do the trick
i always get those 2 screens one per eye..

Good that u found a workaround.

I am not even close to get skyrim working.

I still end up with 2 screens (1 per eye) in game.
Why am i not able to get this working?
Is there some kind of trick i dont know yet?

My guess would be thst you inadvertantly exit Skyrim when pressing the space bar. Menu entries in Skyrim can be executed with it.

In regard to not being able to close the pos tracking dialog, please make sure to tip the space bar only briefly. Longer key presses may not get registered correctly. This is almost cetainly the issue here.

Stupid question/suggestion… but is your Oculus properly plugged in and functioning…?

I only ever get the “vorpx … has stopped working” error when I have the Oculus turned off or it doesn’t get detected.

The reason of the message not disappearing is likely due to the previous crash of the software.
I did try Skyrim with VorpX when I got my DK2, it was an okay experience, apart from being either super zoomed in or having super long arms attached to the player’s ears…

“I tried disabling antivirus” — (proper*) Antivirus has never really a problem to me. I did try a firewall other than windows once (ZoneAlarm) — which causes VorpX – or the Oculus in general – to fail.
It works fine with windows firewall. In case you do use a separate firewall it May be a problem.

    * excluding Norton and the other crap, obviously.

    Hello guys.

When I start up vorpX it gives me “vorpX VR Stereo Driver Control has stopped working”.

Yes, I tried disabling antivirus, it does nothing, I get this error on every startup.

After that I went into Skyrim, and it appears to be working, I press “OK” on the first dialog box.

Then it shows me something about pressing SHIFT+ENTER to re-center the tracking. And that’s where the massive problems start.

I cannot get rid of this box. I cannot press DEL it doesn’t show the menu.
And the moment I do actually press SHIFT+ENTER, Skyrim just CLOSES. No error, no crash, it just closes. I even tried loading a game first, when ingame and pressing the combination, the game just closes. Every. Single. Time.

    Please help me?

    Hi guys and girls.

Iam pretty new here and to my dk2.

I managed to get a few things working like elite and half life 2.

Now i bought vorpx but cant get skyrim to work.

I tried out a few things i found here but nothing seems to work like it should.
When iam in game or at the menu i see the game for each eye.
So like 2 displays…when i close one or the other eye i have a good few. Not to mention the head tracking…that wont work either.
I was searching for a complete guide in the www but couldnt find any.
I saw here or somewhere else a link to a guide but that doesnt exist anymore.

    So PLEASE….
if someone has the time, put a complete “how to setup skyrim with vorpx guide” here. For me and everyone else.

    Thx

I’m really grateful you found a solution and posted it so clearly xD

Unfortunately I can’t find settings that work for me. I still have serious VorpX input issues, much like I did with Skyrim and everything feels zoomed in the game which I can’t seem to resolve.

    What settings do you use?

I get random skyrim crashes in the intro too. For me it gets really choppy and then crashes. I’m assuming my 560 ti is not strong enough for skyrim. So I am in the market for a 980 soon. That being said, once I got past the intro I was able to play fine in the one area I’ve been testing in. I haven’t played past that yet so I have yet to see if this is just an intro problem. My recommendation, play past the intro on your monitor or in Z-Buffer, save, then switch back to geo 3d mode if that’s what you’re using. Hope that helps a little, I’ll tell you soon enough if I still have issues as I’m ready to actually play when I have time.
